I hear you, but I'm not sure that you can have better showing off than what we've got. I mean you literally had devs multiple times going to their editor to prove their visuals aren't fake. There dying on that hill with those statements, which would be suicide for new studio if this game isn't already running on target hardware.

I'm not surprised that you're so sceptical given the fact that you think what we've gotten so far was "a strong start". The overwhelming majority will say this has been the worst gen ever in terms of tech advancement thus far.
There were gameplay snippets in that trailer if you look closely and it looks more or less same quality as the rest of the trailer.I'm really not that skeptical, This is exactly what I expected from this Gen to reach based on how it started, based on spec and the new tools and I feel weve been progressing towards it steadily, Just pointing out that this is cutscene rather than gameplay, People are usually more aware of that, but seeing an editor seems like it's making em ignore it

Realtime in Ps5 or PC. Ive seen presentations like this before.watch the Epic presentation. They show you realtime footage of a level and play around with the editor. it looks absolutely marvelous.
And its realtime. not inengine like those fake trailers. They show you the editor at the very end to prove there is no smoke and mirrors.

My guess is that Nanite rendering of the enviroment is so optimized to allow alot more polys left over for traditional rendering techniques. Remember the 1st nanite reveal was still rendering 5 polys per pixel which is a waste of 4 polys. It still had plenty of room for optimzation.I hate when you're right.
Sony First Party Studios need virtualized geometry.
I'm still preoccupied with the character models though. That what makes 1943 look like a movie to me. And Nanite doesn't support skeletal meshes yet.
So again -- is it Lumen that's making that character model look so real? It's not a special 0 LOD powered by Nanite. So what is it?
To be fair this is still so far has been cutscenes only.Can we say this was our first truly WOW moment of this gen? It is for me. I mean UE5 demos were very impressive, but they were demos and not final games. The character models, the effects, the post processing, the detail is way ahead of anything out there.

Not expecting much of a difference this gen until the tail point of the generation. And PS5 Pro is coming, everyone seems to be forgetting it's launching soon....because we have only seen Cross-Gen looking games so far (exclusive or not) a true next gen game might look alot better on PC for all we know.

That's a bad example since it was a game that should have never launched on last gen consoles and uses forward looking tech like path tracing that no other curent game uses. Some will say Alan Wake 2 uses path tracing, but it really uses fragments of path tracing and is barely any different from raster. Cyberpunk is the Crysis of our time, it's highly unfair to compare other games to it.There is a whole world of difference between console Cyberpunk and PC Cyberpunk

Avatar uses real time RT GI and you have to put PC version side by side with console one to notice difference. This ain't any different to what we got last gen when console games ran at medium settings and PC could run on Ultra. Was there difference?
