replaying Control after alan wake 2 and it still looks great for a 5 year old title. gameplay is amazing and physics are top notch
on the negative side, textures are outdated and the game is too grainy with ray tracing even at native 1440p rendering. I wish they added ray reconstruction to this game retroactively. would help a lot
still surprisingly heavy on the 3070 at native 1440p with all ray traced effects enabled.
1440p dlss quality helps a lot but game becomes even more grainy. I think I will keep playing this one at native 1440p. I even updated the DLL but it didn't help much

nah come on, it wouldn't run at 500 fps, 120/150 fps, sure. 500 fps is a bit of reach. this game is also demanding in its baked form but probably does a lot of dynamic lighting stuff too. this game's lighting is mostly baked anyways but ray tracing effects suit it well if you have surplus performance to spareWay too demanding for what it is.
It all couldve been baked and run at 500fps. the game is fully static and indoors.
Thats good tech but used in wrong game I would say

The game is static. I am not talking about destructible objects.Static? Game is indoors for sure but level of possible destruction and object manipulation is way above most games.

It looks sensibly worse than a crossgen game from 2 years ago and can't maintain 30 fps with chaos on screen...I don't understand the DD2 hate. Other than the uncapped framerate, it looks like a solid current gen game in the visuals department.
But it doesn’t. It looks like this gen. Don’t mix the art styleIt looks sensibly worse than a crossgen game from 2 years ago and can't maintain 30 fps with chaos on screen...
I know that we are lowering our standards but i would not call that "solid".
There is no hate, i have the game in preorder, we are just discussing graphic here, i don't even have the problem of the framerate because i play on pc.

WTF!? It looks dated as hell. But then again you were drooling over SM2 so I'm not that surprised.
Ok, great. At least you now admit sp2 and ff16 were doing next gen things. i will take it.I can give you control, but not dogma 2, we already had big enemies destroying shit in story missions between sp2 and ff16, burning shores final boss (and probably something else) and they all look better than dogma2 while having 60 fps mode, and if you look at the video of dogma i posted, the city interactions and general npcs ia are dogshit.
with great art style tooI don't understand the DD2 hate. Other than the uncapped framerate, it looks like a solid current gen game in the visuals department.
with great art style too
They start from the bottom, i hardly think they can get on pair with nvidia...
2-4x times better than now, but now rtx is kinda dogshit on console...
Like, you think cyberpunk on pro is gonna run with full pathtracing?

I have a 4080\13600k\32gb ddr5 6000mhz\ps5 tier ssd.I'm not lowering any standards. I think it looks great.
What are your PC specs?
I wouldnt be too sure lmao.I have a 4080\13600k\32gb ddr5 6000mhz\ps5 tier ssd.
And the game support framegen so i'm pretty sure that i can do 4k dlss quality60fps if i lower some settings here and there.
Not saying much, even if it was true. And I don't think anyone would claim Suicide Squad has a better story than Arkham Knight, which sucked narratively. Suicide Squad is an even dumber premise, for sure.Cutscenes look amazing and the storytelling is rocksteady at their best.
Better games have gotten shit on or haven't reached their full sales potential for much much worse reasons. I feel no sympathy for WB or Rocksteady here. Its a shame we decided to take a collective shit all over this game because there is a lot to like here despite all the gaas trash.
Standards have changed to what they were when Ryse came out, and I even think they'll noticeably change from what they are now by the end of 2025.If this was a traditional game with the same exact combat, world design and story, it wouldve been very well received. the gaas mission design almost ruins it but im enjoying it by sticking to the main story missions. I have no idea how this is a 60 on metacritic. Thats worse than ryse and the order.
i meant storytelling not the actual story. The cutscene direction is way ahead of Arkham knight and they do some pretty cool things with the evil Justice League encounters. Not saying much, even if it was true. Boilerplate mission design has been a sticking point for critics for the last couple of years at least, though.

You overestimate how much i care about about some settings or my will to put them on low to get more frames.I wouldnt be too sure lmao.
Here is the spec page on steam. they say 2160p 30 FPS. 30 lol
RECOMMENDED:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)/Windows 11 (64 bit)
Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / AMD Radeon RX 6700
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Additional Notes: Estimated performance: 2160i/30fps. Framerate might drop in graphics-intensive scenes. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6800 required to support ray tracing.
That recommended CPU is no slouch either. I wonder if their engine is just broken at this point.
As rare as this steak
Rare slimysnake L
I think Dragon's Dogma 2 is the first real open-world made with the RE Engine. I wouldn't be surprised if the RE Engine just isn't optimized for these types of games.I wouldnt be too sure lmao.

But I pretty much said the same thing you did.Suicide squad has some things going on like the cutscenes but it was rather unimpressive as a whole.
Im playing maxed out on PC with no ray tracing at 4k dlss quality, and while its a not next gen stunner,
It's a shame the lighting is so last gen because it feels flat and dull like most last gen games as soon as you go into shadows or night time.
The amount of assets that have full physics is very surprising but like FF7 they are so last gen in quality that they dont exactly feel next gen in anyway.
Overall, id say that it a fairly decent upgrade visually over Arkham Knight..... Cutscenes look amazing
They say 2160i, not p so probably using i as interlaced or half of 2160p.You overestimate how much i care about about some settings or my will to put them on low to get more frames.
But yeah, the game has showed that dogma2 devs are inepts in terms of optimization so i expect the worse, framegen should be the saving grace.
If this ps4 looking piece of...game doesn't run at least at 1800p60, i'm gonna riot, imaginary underlying systems or not.
Also, if a 2080 is enough for 4k30, why in the world you think my 4080 is not enough for 4kdlss quality 60?
I was joking. But I pretty much said the same thing you did.
It's a great looking last gen game. A decent upgrade over Arkham Knight. Thats all. I just think we go too far towards trashing games and dont look at what they do right. Just look at arkhamguy. He probably didnt even play the game despite being a rocksteady fan. The game has a lot of that rocksteady magic even if its let down by the gaas level design. Especially in cutscenes and storytelling. I like this way more than the two hollywood Suicide Squad movies. They actually do a rather good job of giving you reasons to kill the justice league. But people would rather get outraged over out of context youtube videos showing executions of your beloved characters.
Doesn't framegen and dlss4k help with cpu bound games? They say 2160i, not p so probably using i as interlaced or half of 2160p.
The problem isnt the GPU, its the CPU. Look at the 10700k. Its way better than console CPUs and its targeting 30 fps? The 14700k is roughly 50% more powerful but thats not going to get you 2x more frames in a CPU bound game.
maybe this is a misprint and the game runs well on modern PC CPUs as long as its paired with a powerful GPU like yours.
Nope. Something like Star Wars is CPU bound in the koboh town and no amount of dlss scaling would fix that. i went down to 1080p then used ultra performance which is like 540p and it was still 45 fps in the koboh town with RT on. With RT off, it was 75 fps but still CPU bound. I wonder if the same thing is happening here but worse.Doesn't framegen and dlss4k help with cpu bound games?
I had less problem than most with star wars tbh, maybe i'm gonna be lucky again.Nope. i guess we will find out soon with reviews set to go live today. up until i saw the steam page i was convinced i would be able to run the game at 60 fps on my pc but now im not so sure. like kaiser said above, this is the first open world RE engine game. its probably a mess like star wars.

Bad screenshots.Did they forgot the hero light on aloy in the pc version? something looks off.
But those are official screenshotBad screenshots.
i see hero lighting in the last screenshots.
they must be at low settings on a 1050ti or something /sBut those are official screenshot
DF working on a lot of embargoed content maybe/hopefully some of it related to GDC?? This thread is on life support right now.
Hellblade 2…Its gonna be a shit year for gaming graphics.
No shade but its the year of the Japanese games, and they simply suck at graphics now aside from Kojima.
We'll be in heaven next year though with GTA 6, Death Stranding 2, and undoubtedly some other Sony First Party heavy hitters will release.
Did they forgot the hero light on aloy in the pc version? something looks off.
And I hope for an option to make it as intense as it was in the first trailerI hope there is an option to disable the hero light.
It makes characters seem to not be grounded in the same scene. As if pasted on a greenscreen.
It was impressive Just because devs don't put destruction on top of their priorities, the destruction in control is not that impressive when you consider that this was running on a ps3
As a very old gaffer I just need to leave this gif here and move on...No offense to red faction but it looked like shit in comparison to the best looking games of that gen, and you cant look at that and say control isnt impressive.
