Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

This thread is usually wrong so I hope so.
I think it's just that some here consider cel-shaded and anime-style games to have already peaked or they are simply not indicative enough of huge graphical leaps, even though fans of both would probably be able to explain the subtle improvements from generation to generation.

That Marvel game looked flawless at nearly every angle.

A second place for me would be Felt That Boxing.

I thought I was watching a real life muppet skit (because Keighley likes his muppets) until the camera panned to gameplay. I had to rewind again to be absolutely sure.

Capcom clearly upgraded RE engine as we've seen with Progmata that looks super clean, but with RE9 they're clearly just reusing old assets from previous games to save money and time. It's the old cross gen looking Frankenstein game.

Mafia in game doesn't look like a big step up from last gen (characters and animations at least), only the cutscenes are impressive.

Indie and AA games have really stopped it up graphically, can't say the same for AAA side of things.

Microsoft showcase should be where we see AAA pushing visuals hard. Expecting Fable (that ugly dog face aside), Gears and few others to really impress.

This part made me say wow. This looks almost real or CGI. Unreal engine 5 is the only engine that is giving me "next gen" vibes over and over again. This is how games are supposed to look on current gen systems. The Order 1886 has these same "next gen" vibes even today and is what I envisioned most games to look like on PS5, Xbox Series X etc just with bigger worlds, better textures, resolution, character models etc.

The only "next gen" looking games came from small studios. Crazy. RE9 looks great but not
necessarily "next gen". I think the industry is stuck on old engines and tech except a few like UE5, Rage engine, Avilnext and Snowdrop.

8 person studio

The part where the man in the hazmat suit comes out looks CGI!

Exactly

Bro this felt game is blowing my mind that's not in game right?

ILL and Felt that look full on next gen

Yes, I already stateted this thread is usually wrong, no need to repeat :messenger_winking: .
Most just go "this gives me those next gen butterflies" I'm not suprised they just go "Yep that's a cartoon alright, NEXT"
While pretending to have a grip on what we should be getting fidelity wise.

I cant believe Sony is spending resources on a 2D GOW game. I just cant.
I dont care if it took like 20 people to make that game. Put those 20 people towards a real game.

I think RE 9 is them taking a second go at a larger environment, especially based on the description they gave:

They haven't really tried large/open world environments since Dragon's Dogma 2, so I'm hoping that if they are trying it again, that they have figured something out with their engine.

Why I agree or why this thread might disagree?

Wishmaster92 Wishmaster92 Also I have a request if you don't mind, if you could gif some moments from 'Felt That Boxing' that really show off it's graphics please. No worries if you don't feel like it.
why you agree it's the best looking game? It looks basically on the level of many cel-shaded games before it, possibly a hair better. Is it just the art style? The felt boxing thing is much more impressive in my view if that's real gameplay

So superior lol. Just say you really like things that look like cartoons and be done with it - I doubt the game is moving the needle technology wise at all

Just want to express some more disappointment. Got the Switch 2 and my most played game is Wind Waker. Not happy with the screen- not having an Oled was a huge mistake. Mario Kart in handheld mode, where I play 95% of the time, might be impressive if the IQ was better .. Well, the game itself is good with great level design and lots of fun stuff happening on screen. Fast fashion doesn't look good in handheld its too muddy looking.

Games need an update to look great in handheld and in true games company fashion there are only 10 games Nintendo was gracious enough to "bless us" with. So Zelda, Bowsers Fury, and Mario Odyssey do look really good but Metroid Prime Remaster and many more exclusives feel gimped without a patch.

I continue to be disappointed with Doom on Pro....trying to mess with the settings and no matter what can't get it to look sharp. How is the RTGi so utterly ineffective? Even Indiana Jones rtgi puts this games to shame.

Nioh 3 .....lolz

I went from extremely optimistic this week with Witcher 4 and thinking e3 season will give us a bunch of stuff to look forward to, to utterly deflated with MGS3 delta, CD Project devs comments etc. Now im thinking after all this ...at least Sony will give us DS2 and Ghost of Yotei ...yay
Cdpr comments? What they say?

So superior lol.

YEP.

I guess you think they've not inovated since they changed the game 10 years ago

I like the felt game, but it feels pretty rough animation and art wise in many areas.
The engine allows them to have their models look very real but the devs dont got mean to go beyond that.

I'm not watching that whole thing - but no I think cel-shaded graphics have improved. Hi-fi rush I thought looked awesome - this just doesn't seem that far beyond that level, I can still see that it's a game and not a cartoon/3d tv show - which I feel like if they did cell shades flawless that illusion would be better. And the art style itself while cool is not very unique

It's the fidelity mixed with high quality animations and physics that makes this good.

Some people just love to be contrarians so they pick stuff they know 99% of people don't agree with.

It's the only option i can think of when a game like ill is showed and you pick a cell shading game...in a graphic fidelity topic...and then tell other people they are always wrong because they disagree, you can't make this shit up :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Yes but I think Ill is fake. The felt that: boxing looks nearly photo real as well
Yeah it looks too good to be true but i still have more faith in this being true than the npcs bullshit in the w4 trailer tbh.

Small devs with ue5 showed they can do as good if not better than AAA studios.

The game is published by mundfish, the same people behind atomic heart so i have some trust.

Yeah I mean based on trailers alone. ILL is one of the best looking games I've ever seen - hilarious to take a slightly better looking marvel vs capcom over that

True I was surprised to see that mundfish is publishing, the animation in conjunction with how good it looked just seems too good to be true to me. If a tiny developer can like that is capable of making one of the best looking games I've ever seen idk what to say

Ok re9 looks better than expected coming from trash like dogma 2 and mhwilds, their human models are still super meh, especially the women but the rest looked decent.

Not sure if i can muster any interest in playing another first person re game with terrible shooting and the daughter of the dogshit previous protagonist...

You are wrong and you should feel bad about it.
Yeah we must feel bad about it, even the game tells us somebody is ill ! Who let the simpleton out of the asylum? Mihoyo, Nintendo or Square Enix ? The devs are speaking yo!
Sounds like they almost happen to be another bunch of brainless bastards who came across anime cringy shit in this thread back in someday and they don't like it that much? :lollipop_crying:

You know my love of stylized art has been too consistent for this pick to be anything but an attempt to be contrarian, what else would you imagine me picking? Realistic shooter 99999999?.

I'd imagine it goes without saying that this game has things i'm personally interested in seeing pushed, not that it's the overall most technically advanced thing out there, Or do I need to call you out every time you post a neat gore system in an otherwise mediocre looking game?

Anyway people here aren't wrong BECAUSE they disagree with me, was just a joke about this being the last thread where i'd be bothered by people not liking my pick of nice looking game, one cause I know it sways to loving realism or slightly stylized things but because the actual nonsense claims that get made here.

The thing is, when i post a neat gore system i only praise that, not the rest of the graphic so i'm not really going against the topic.

There's nothing that I can see in that description that would indicate it'll take place in large environments....RE games have never been in big, open environments and with the Fidelity they showed that indicates something in line with relaxed village ...probably a bit bigger but nothing crazy

It's highly unlikely this is anything more than a tech demo, if it's even that.
Many games in the oast 5 years were considered vaporware/tech demos and they actually came out/are coming out.

The devs are working on this thing for like short of a decade, i want to believe eveni if it look too good to be true, and the game is still far from ready, this has ps6 written all over it.

So any indie\aa title they showed shit on sony titles graphically uh??

looked great, I think the voiceover was Tom Hardy. definitely sounded like him

I have been following the game and posting about it eversince its very early stages,
and they have remained consistent in the vision and presentation, and they have been successfully upgrading the graphics with each showing.
I was already really hyped about this game now my excitement is through the roof. amazing work

there's nothing about it that is not technically feasible. it's just the way they they have designed the camera work and the minor details in the animations of hands that makes it so special looking
