Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

The graphics are looking very rough. What the heck
there is no fucking detail, the trees in the background are so sparse, eveeything looks straight from the ps4- lighting, animation, texture quality, environments

There are still people on Reddit and Youtube talking about how "amazing" this will look and "thank god for Sucker Punch" lulz ...i just read that comment on Reddit from someone in a thread about how disappointing MGS Delta looks using UE5

We're so screwed and Yotei is that screwing finally happening thanks to 5 years of moron playstation fans being happy with every game sony has put out this gen.
 
Yup, that builds hella immersion combined with this lvl of graphic fidelity, i think what GTA6 will provide us with will be roughly on the lvl next gen only AAA blockbusters on avg will look like, so assuming both next gen consoles will be out by holidays 2027 (according to the leaks)and till 2030 we gonna get crossgen period(yuck), games from 2030 onwards from more "normal" dev studios with AAA but not crazy budgets will be able to achieve that :)

Another thing we gotta remember about is- gta5 had tons of scalability, gta6 will likely have that too.

Damn these grass models and whole shading looks so out of place, taking me back to 2017 era for a second , especially when the whole gi and art direction looks pretty medicore as hell. And what is this crap supposed to be anyway, looks like typical low effort Final Fantasy knock off ? No wonder Chinese been saying dev process of this one is a total mess

Why does NBA 2k26 look like shit? There was a time sports games were some of the most advanced looking games on the market
As a sports gamer myself this shit has been hella depressing. But I'd say sports games in general have stagnated late last gen but continued to do so this gen which is inexcusable as the reason we thought they stagnated was because they hit the limit as to what they could do with those consoles. But nah lack of competition for the likes of NBA2K and Fifa/FC is making devs rest on their laurels and not even bother which is infuriating to say the least!

The limit in sports game is called gambling. Ever since the introductions of loot boxes everything went to shit. Gameplay first, and tech together.
 
There is no excuse to not have some RT options. 2042 had RT options.
They actually have a decent excuse. The game is very CPU heavy and as we know, RT has a significant hit on the CPU as well. All this destruction comes at a cost.

They basically coded this around current gen console CPU specs, and im ok with that.

Chinese devs are fire when using UE5, both Wukong and Wuchang look very good. Here they are using UE4...

Still not a great looking game but yeah, huge difference on PC as has become the trend.

Shadows are the worst offender on consoles, they flicker like motherfucker. The best thing is, "the most powerful console" is using less than high setting for them - even in fucking 30fps mode.

Max shadows on PC are some of the most expensive if not the most expensive setting when set to ultra.

The flickering is very annoying which is why i always take the hit on shadows nowadays.

It can also easily be solved by using RT shadows which is very cheap (only a 3-5 hit on cyberpunk) as long as RT is already enabled. So if you are using RT reflections or RTGI, the shadows would only cost 3-5% and look perfect. Compared to 25-30% when using screenspace shadows ultra quality.

VSMs are also cheaper than ultra quality screenspace shadows.
 
If you play MGS DELTA, definitely play it with DLSS4. Looks so much better. Insane how sharp and detailed everything looks. You can zoom in during cutscenes with left trigger and everything remains sharp and detailed af
Do i need the fucking nvidia app to force it in?

You need to play professional baseball spirits. UE5. Incredible animations. Almost braodcast quality production values. It's a gorgeous looking game.

Its worth it... Dlss swapper is so easy to use and the nvidia app is even more easier, but sadly its not working with this game. Didnt try it with the latest drivers that came out yesterday tho

Yet they provide no options in game and force preset C (dlss3).

That said guerrilla games have the strongest programming Team on all of sony studios with many having very high profile in the industry but I don't know what's wrong with them in ds2 considering last year their vice Head stepped down from his postion to return to his former position as tech director to focus on developing decima

This one screams "amazing PC release". 4K/DLAA w/ DLSS4 and disabling chromatic aberration/motion blur/etc.. will hugely clean up this game I think.
Solving puzzles before shooting enemies sound almost as boring as walking around constantly pressing r2+l2 to not fall down for every slight change of direction or what kojima nut gobblers called pinnacle of gameplay or some shit, so i don't really care for the game at all tbh.

Re4r remake was a great pc port, but it was still re4r underneath, you can polish all you want but a game has to look nextgen to begin with.

They could have John Carmack leading the team, and it would still look cross gen like virtually every sony game this gen.

They dont want to invest in RT. They really dont want to invest in realtime GI. They have all made it perfectly clear that they are targeting 1440p 60 fps. Next gen graphics are not going to happen.

I know we all want to believe, but its time to move on. They will try to fool us like kojima and most recently Sucker Punch did with their carefully crafted cutscene heavy trailers, but once the gameplay videos come out, the true scale of these shitty last gen graphics will become clear.

This is all due to cutting costs which is a mandate from the top. They have the tech and they are not sharing it. You would think ND wouldve shared their motion matching tech with Sucker Punch. Nope. You would think the water tech in HFW would be shared with other devs not using Decima. Nope. You would think Insomniac would teach others the lessons they've learned from implementing RT in 3 games this gen. Nope.

They will fake some fancy looking areas where the devs spend 5 years lighting it real nice then leave 90% of the game looking like last gen garbage. Kinda like what Kojima did with that fireworks level with incredible lighting, reflections and assets.... all missing from the rest of the game.

For people with powerful PC's give them the option of RT, at least RTAO, reflections or pathtracing for campaign. If it was for destructions sake then I can understand...

When you look at the technical features of DS2, it's basically the same as Horizon Forbidden West.

It wouldn't be surprising if both games used the same version of the Decima engine and it would also explain why DS2 doesn't use the new antialiasing that Guerrilla recently developed and used on the Pro version of HFW.

I also believe Kojima said that DS2 should have come out earlier, so it would fit with the fact that the version of the Decima engine they forked was the same one used for HFW.

Yeah this sounds likely. I feel like they have barely improved graphically in a decade - sometimes I think they might've looked even better back then

Gears Reloaded inspired me to play Gears 4 again last night to see if it looked as good as I remember and my goodness that game looks amazing to this day. This game looks better than Gears 5 imo (even the SX Optomized vereion of Gears 5), though unfortunately it's at 30 fps and has some weird fps issues on SX that I don't remember it having on the One X.

I played the area in Act 2 where Marcus gets snatched up by one of the locust snatchers, I believe it was the same area shown in the E3 gameplay reveal trailer. When I say this game looks better than most games now Im not exaggerating, and the image quality and textures are pristine and amazing...demons souls remake came to mind in terms of fidelity

2017... on the previous consoles ....i think this was the xbox ones best looking game. The lighting, hdr, image quality, assets, texture quality ...gears 5 always felt off in comparison due to the hit from going from 30 to 60 fps

Damn ...anyone else agree?

The carrot here is definitely the graphic, plot and cutscene.

People comparing this to mgs5 gameplay or even a decent modern stealth action game like a tomb raider trilogy or days gone are kinda nuts, the fluidity is on a whole other level.
 
This game, man, this game...

Almost every scene has top-quality assets, character models and lighting.
Also, I haven't seen a generational difference between consoles and PC in a long time like this. The PS5 Pro version was a blurry mess, I immediately switched to the PC version.

It a much slower and heavier version of MGSV, but it has the same animations and you can do basically the same things. The problem is that the environments are very tight and small so it's more difficult to have that freedom that MGSV open world provides. I actually don't see nothing wrong with this. MGS3 linear levels are fun to play as well
