Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Wolverine looks good, but I don't feels much the cartoony style. Btw I like the gore and I hope for a good destruction, so I'm positive about it. Overall, I'm not as impressed as some about how it looks, but maybe because I've watched it on my smartphone, later I'll watch it again on my 4k screen.

I am replaying a bit of Ghost of Tsushima before Yotei. I still don't think there is a prettier game in motion from last generation. I am obviously bummed that Yotei appears to improve so little on it, but this generation I can only think of a few games that are more pleasing on the eyes

Holy shit....

I just gave Ghost of Tsushima another shot to see how it looks graphically to remind myself before playing Yotei, and oh man, it looks so outdated, I was shocked!

It has its moments though…

Horizon 6 is meaningless if there are no big, detailed city streets. I'm tired of empty fields and wet forests.

Tokyo was confirmed in the press release they posted on xbox.com.

"While we're not announcing too much in terms of detail right now, we're excited to show fans the true breadth of beauty – both natural and urban environments – that Japan has to offer," explains Arceta. "From the neon lights and towering buildings of Tokyo City – one of our most detailed and layered environments to date – to the serenity and natural beauty of Japan's rural and mountain areas, we think players will be blown away by the open world of Japan that we have built.

"The beauty of Horizon games is that each one gives us learnings and ways to make the next even bigger and better," says Arceta. "As well as taking player feedback into account, we've also been able to lean into more practical things – for instance, the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC has helped us develop the elevated roads of Tokyo City in FH6."

After the DF video

eating-crow.jpg

Its still has rough spots, snowy area still looks dogshit, secondary npc talking "cutscenes" still looks awkward and bad but overall it looks really nice

I'll happily eat crow about yotei just because they made a worthy PS5 pro version

There are a few really impressive shots in the DF video, how could the trailers look so bad ??

Yeaaah it feels like DF is a little too over positive on this one. The RTGI mode is nice but still a lot of assets looks very dated

John's 'review' videos are always positive, he's basically stopped doing technical analysis's and nitpicks and just does these reviews and Retro videos.

Yotei looks decent, but even with RT it's still the art style that shines, just like the 1st.
The video shows a lot of last gen stuff in there. Just a few minutes in it's this scene that, yeah, it's a bit rough.

Guys, Ghost of Yotei looks absolutely incredible here lol I don't care what anyone says, the amount of assets & draw distance on screen is absolutely breathtaking!

Edit: Oh my God this GIF looks bad with so much noise, but you get the point...

So it's just like I thought it'd be, a game that looks great in motion with all the assets flowing at once, and one that loses that wow factor in still shots.

Lighting also looks fantastic with RT!

Rt pro mode 40 minutes gamersyde review

Yeah, looks mediocre still on PS5.

Honestly though, particularly with RTGI, this one might end up shining on PC.

Yotei can look incredible at times under the right conditions but overall, it looks like a PS4 game with a ps5 patch.

Wolverine looks okay, nothing crazy. I hate Insomniac cartoony style with passion.

Saros looks decent but some low res textures and it's a rogue like so it goes straight to the trash anyway.

Great scores so far. To Sony this might not even be good enough to warrant a 3rd entry:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Honestly every Sony 1st party sequel gets great scores whether it's great or not. Look at Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, etc.. etc.. where the sequel gets a higher review average from critics but is considered a disappointment by most fans.

We'll see if Yotei is different, but I can't say I'm holding my breath.

So few games have a great distinct art style. I am fine with lesser fidelity in games as long as the art style makes up for. This franchise will be timeless because of it

I think I've been too harsh on Yōtei. It certainly has its moments and the art style is undeniable. Really cool cinematography in some of the cutscenes I've seen. The draw distance is obviously much better and that alone makes a big difference. It's not as big of a jump as I wanted but it's hard to deny how great it can look at times.

Yup, you want cold hard negativity, watch Alex's videos. Tbh most of it is justified
Pretty sure the whole crew is always gentle with almost everything, alex is just more vocal when a game lack good raytracing.

You are never gonna hear one of these muppets calling out a game like we do, they have too much to lose.

I didn't even watched their video and i bet they are comparing the game with sushima and not shadows or wukong.

They are not comparing it to anything, that's the most hilarious thing. They only showed Tsushima few times when comparing invert kinematics (still sucks) and "leaf particles". And the best thing was - I had to pause the video to confirm that it wasn't GoY after seeing Jin...

Honestly speaking the marketing team at sony should be fired even the game is is last gen looking they could capture most of trailers on polished areas on the game with pro raytracing mode on instead they use ps5 regular 60 fps mode on bullshit areas
