GRAVITY Trailer

This will be great, no doubt.

I'll sound like an asshole but a few years ago I had this lingering idea to write a screenplay about an astronaut who becomes separated from his/her shuttle. I envisioned a trailer with someone floating away into the blackness of space.

So ... it is Space Open Water ?

Afraid ... but in Cuaron we trust !
Loved all his movies, from your mama to harry potter

I do remember the reports that Bullock has been asked not to wear any makeup in this film. Cuaron trying to make this ultra-realistic.

Trying ultra realistic and starting with sound is a bad move =P

I don't care for sound in space ... but don't try to be all ultra realistic with this

There's not many chances you get to see Lubezki's work on a screen that big...or Cuaron for that matter. I'll see it both ways though, just to compare.

I'll probably see it both ways as well. I've just never seen a good post-converted 3D film with the exception of Piranha 3D. The only reason that worked is because the cheap conversion added to the b-movie feel it was going for.

Part of the reason is simply trusting Cuaron and considering the heavy VFX, they could perfect the 3D effects. I've heard from some inside sources that Cuaron said he could literally spend a few more years doing VFX for this one to keep making it better and better...so at least the year delay helped a great deal.

I still remember dat cast of Robert Downey Jr and Angelina Jolie.

I'm disappointed in who they went with. IIRC, there were a lot of people this was being kicked around to...Clooney/Bullock seems like a kinda boring pair imo.

Having said that, I'm glad that it's not fantastical. We have enough of that. I'd be completely okay with ~40 minutes of "life of an astronaut" and then the rest of the film being a thriller or whatever he's going for.

So is this really about the audience being stuck alone with Bullock for two hours? Well, that's money saved.

I cant help but think this trailer showed me everything that will be in the movie because if the ISS is done for then the only thing is what happens to the couple who are up there with the only unknown will be survival or not of the characters. No surprises it seems hopefully the execution is masterful

'Wanna go to a movie hon?'

'Yeah whatcha in the mood for?'

'Oh something stressful as fuck and sickeningly vertiginous.'

I wonder what will happen when she needs to pee or take a shit?

I imagine she did both in the first couple of seconds.

Looks like it could be good. Great visuals.

Hey, Expendable, what is the website you manage or write for? I completely forgot. =/

It's a space movie by Alfonso Cuaron and Emmanuel Lubezki. Could have anybody in the leading roles and I'd still see it.

Pauly Shore and Kirstey Alley.
I'd probably be pretty damn curious to see how that would work out, so that's so bad it has the opposite effect. Makes me want to see it more. You have to pick two totally average uninteresting actors.

Like Idris Elba and Jessica Chastain.

jkjk

Why in the blue hell has it taken so long for this film to be released? I remember reading about it over three years ago.

It's 90% CG. Cuaron and WB decided they wanted a lot more time to polish the effects. Also because after test screenings, WB wanted to move it into Oscar season.

Straight up, I can't think of any film where I've made a conscious observation that Sandra Bullock is an awful actress and annoying me. I haven't seen a lot of her more recent films, so maybe that's where she falters, but I really don't get the hate. In fact, I didn't really learn of the hate until Gravity started being discussed on GAF.

She won an Oscar she didn't deserve a few years ago. Thus = worst actress ever.

She's not great, but she's not terrible either. I think she'll be fine, if not pull out something really good under the direction of Cuaron.

My prediction:

Sandra Bullock will not ruin this movie.

Call me crazy.

She's not terrible, but in a movie like this, you need some good fucking actor to keep you going throughout.
I guess that's where most of us are coming from.

If she nails the part, more power to her, of course.
