GRAVITY Trailer

I'm kinda afraid the ending will be either a crappy "Murica saves them in the end" ending or a "let's die together in space while opening our visors to kiss one final time" ending.

Hollywood destroyed all my expectations :/

Iain Banks had a cool 'lost in a space suit' twist in one of his short stories
the story winds along with the person trying to make his way somewhere, but then it turns out the person in the suit has been dead all along, and the suit - which in banks' world, is a sentient AI - has had a nervous breakdown and was the whole time carrying along this dead guy in the suit, pretending/imagining he was still alive, talking to him etc.

Of course something like that wouldn't work in a modern, 'realistic' setting...

Not really feeling it. Feels like it's going to be a 2 hour abandoned person/buried person tension drama.

Open water in space or something. Hope I'm wrong.

Awesome story.

The more I think of it, the more plausible the "One last kiss" ending gets for me. If it happens, I totally called it.

Reception from the test screening a year ago -

Briana Hernandez - Worst movie ever! #gravity

David Vendrell - Went to a test-screening for “Gravity” last night…it was far from being done, but it will be a visual feast when it is…and nothing more.

Can't wait for the walk outs.

Are we classing with as sci fi? People in space isn't exactly fiction any more.

How often do you guys watch a trailer or clip from a film and just know that you're going to dislike an actors performance? It's disappointing, because I actually really like both Clooney and Bullock and wasn't alarmed by their casting at all, but they kinda killed a lot of my excitement for this. Really hope i'm wrong, this was my most anticipated film of the year.

GAF was so excited for this and it just seems like two astronauts in jeopardy in space? Trailer did virtually nothing for me.

I'm definitely going to consider the opinion of someone who calls a Cuaron movie 'the worst movie ever'.

Oh wait, no I'm not.

I think the excitement is because of the director and the promise and potential he has shown already with his other projects.

Obviously you can't judge from the trailer alone and while I enjoyed it but I would go just based on the talent involved in making it.

What plans do NASA or whoever have to rescue people in this situation on the ISS? How quickly can they get a ship up there?

If you look at her Twitter, lol nothing to worry about. Whoever says "worst movie ever" should be immediately dismissed. I hope it's not just a visual feast though but more like Solaris where I can come back to it because of the characters and themes.

That David guy did a follow-up post on Screen Rant:
Woohoo! My tweet made this article! Btw, “Children of Men” is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. “Gravity” was immsersive, breathtaking, and truly ahead of its time visually. The Cuaron famous roaming shots are spectacular, and his direction and blocking was pretty brilliant. I cannot wait to see it once it is done! But, I came in expecting something as deep, intricately-plotted, and and thematically-rich as “Children of Men”; and that is where the film is sorely lacking. Also, in typical Cuaron fashion, there is hardly any backstory, which doesn’t make you very emotionally involved with Sandra’s character. IMHO at least. It’s a roller-coaster of a movie that I’m sure everyone will enjoy (i did), but I think that is all anyone will be really mentioning when talking about this film. Cannot wait to see what Cuaron does next!

They would be dead.

Truly the exact movie we needed, another empty and vapid visual rollercoaster from Hollywood. We really don't have enough of those.

Film looks great and Children of Men was one of my favourite ever, but goddamn, Sandra Fucking Bullock? What was he thinking?

Reminds me of the film where a couplr were left behind after a diving trip because someonr can't count and the whole film was them floating in the middle of the ocean.

But i guess this one doesn't have sharks.

Open Water was REALLY good. That's about as horror-y as it gets for me.

There's a Soyuz capsule docked to the ISS for use in emergency. It can land safely back on Earth.

Since the Space Shuttle was retired 2 years ago, NASA doesn't have any craft that can take people to and from space. They're relying on the Russians for now. Only China and Russia have manned space capability.

My friend saw the 3D trailer with The Great Gatsby last night and said the 3D effects are amazing. I kind of want to see Gatsby again (I really liked it, too) just to see it.

Looks like it could be good. Great visuals.

Hey, Expendable, what is the website you manage or write for? I completely forgot. =/

This one.

I guess I don't have a deep seated hatred for Bullock like some other posters do simply because I stay away from her films. Looking at her filmography I seem to not bother with most of her work as it does not interest me. Wait, maybe I do hate her?

So this is basically Open Water in space and with explosions?

Yep.
