Greninja Amiibo is a Toys R Us exclusive, sold out in 30 minutes.

Any of you still hunting with the hope of getting a full collection should just stop honestly. Seems pretty stressful for no reason and it just fuels the race towards using the figures for scalping, trading, and prizes used for competitions.

Here is a serious answer from me. There is no way that I would give up at half way for Smash Amiibo Collection. I gotta to finish it before I get off the train.

There is hidden message behind the GIF but I'm sure that people would get it.

Die hard Nintendo fans are like a wife who gets beaten daily but refuses to leave her husband. Everything they do to you is so wrong but the couple times a year they are nice (1-2 games in this case) you stay because you love the abuse.

How they have just mass produced these out the ass is insane. It's popular and priced where anyone can afford it and possibly excite kids about our product? CAN NOT HAVE!

Yeah I don't see the point of hunting for amiibos

You ain't getting anything rare/good except mega man and that's the best amiibo B^)

And he gets you his helmet in MK8 soon

No more excuses, NoA is doing this on purpose

I don't think its anything like that.

Because one is domestic abuse.

The other is toys.

So is that the new record or is RosaLuma still the fastest an amiibo line has sold out?

They are going full air jordan with these amiibo

Thanks for reminding me that I missed the third release of the cleanest Jordans ever in the Chicago Xs double nickel.

Guess I'm waiting another ten years for the remaster reretro'd editions
featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series
.

While I'm on this tangent, they need to re-release the team colors.

Amiibo situation is awful. I blame Nintendo for not keeping up with demand/ limited runs/ retail exclusive.

They should sell them on their website as well. Or have a dedicated website for them. I would've jumped at the chance but knowing how difficult they are to get I've not bothered joining the band wagon.

All I wanted was rosalina

Just did another once over of the list, the only ones I want are Marth and Shulk. It looks like I may have a shot at both later but right now fuck that noise.

I'm glad I stopped collecting these back in December and sold off my collection. I just wish Nintendo offered the game content as a purchaseable item outside of Amiibo. It's garbage that they are locking it behind these impossible to find figures.

Thanks for shitting on an entire fanbase with a genuinely offensive analogy.

Oh for fuck's sake. This is a terrible analogy.

It's okay Nintendo. Keep on making us cry. We'll keep on coming and coming and coming until it's too much and we collectively bail on you at the worst possible moment.

How far in advance are these plans made anyway? I heard that they planned amiibo shipments 8 months in advance, which I guess is plausible and would explain why they still are so rare. I don't know how these work though, so I don't know how true that is.

I sound like a broken record but....

Threads like this make me so glad I got out when I did.

I tracked down all of wave one and wave two.

Recently sold them pretty much all off except a few.

Fuck this hunt. They're very cool figures but I'm not revolving my life around toys.

I'm leaving the amiibo train simply I can't stand how bad Nintendo is distributing this toys, most of them end in scalper's hands, so I'm done. Good luck for those who are still trying to hunt the New ones.

yep. i did far more than i ever expected to do to hunt down wave 2 and 3. im not having that shit at this point. id still like to collect them all, but i wont stress over missing out on these fucking ridiculous pre orders.

Riiiight. And yeah, theres no better way to send them that message than to keep on scooping those little toys up within minutes of availability.

It's true. I've given up on Amiibo hunting. If I happen to find one at a store that I don't have, great, but I refuse to do shit like take time off of work to go wait in line somewhere, or click a website constantly only to get totally burned when the site goes down and takes forever to come back up, by which time I will have gone to sleep or gotten bored.

I also refuse to pay triple or quadruple retail price for them.

They are average-looking figures whose in-game purpose hasn't really done much in the way of excitement for me. The super limited supply has really killed my desire to collect even the ones I actually want, and they're priced too high to possibly want to collect them all.

Making a product like this that's only available to those who want to hammer the internet constantly until they go on sale, and even then only to have 60% of the ones you sell end up on eBay for triple the price is not a good way to keep me as one of your customers.

Call it sour grapes, call it whatever you want, but there is some truth in the statement that this poster made - this crap has already driven me away from amiibo, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Still gonna try and get those yarn yoshis though....

Bummer, I actually wanted to grab a Greninja for the heck of it, but it seems amiibos are still in high demand/low supply.

Package the most rare Amiibo bundle ever in history with WIIU ...Booom $$$$$

Bundling exclusive amiibo with new WiiU consoles would almost certainly boost new hardware sales-- even if they were redundant for many. Amiibo hunters are so thirsty and driven for new figures that they would easily buy a new console just to get that one figure needed to complete their collections.

It'd be a devious idea, but it would work. Oh, boy, would it work.

I don't buy Amiibo's or anything, but I'm a collector of other figures. For those of you who are OCD about these things, you really only have two options: bite the bullet and just overpay scalpers in order to satisfy your ocdness (which I'm prone to do) or just tell Nintendo "Fuck you!"

As others have said, it seems as though this is manufactured supply constraint. Why would Nintendo do that? To keep interest up. Right now, they're probably in a board meeting somewhere plotting how they'll do this again for some other "exclusive" figure. If you're not ok with that, then just give up now. trust me, you'll help yourself in the long run. If you are ok with it, then just prepare to take it up the butt from scalpers when you miss a pre-order.

Nintendo leaving millions on the table with their poor production of these things.

I have to disagree. I am no econ major (although I do work in finance) and I imagine that Nintendo has worked out the economics of this.

If they had oversaturated the market in the beginning, while taking these "millions" you refer to then, its not guaranteed that hte popularity among colectors would have been sustained at all. So they would be potentially be giving up millions in the long run.

It basically comes down to - Would you rather sell 10 items in 1 week or 20 items spread out over 4 weeks. Which do you choose? Nintendo has chose the later.

WTF????
You need a new hobby. What you said is very offensive.

What the fuck does domestic violence have to do with this? Do you have any idea how much more serious that is than these? These are toys for god's sake and some people collecting it.

Lolol seriously people fretting over not getting Greninja are so dumb, hey guys how about not being so damn addic--all Yoshi Woolly World special edition already sold out??!! I'M NUCLEAAAAR I'M WIIILLDDD

Why are Pokemon exclusive anyway? The likes of Shulk, Meta Knight, and Ness I can understand, seeing how they're pretty niche. But Pokemon? Those are some of the biggest and most mass appeal characters Nintendo has. Even someone like Jigglypuff should be comparable to the likes of Zelda and Diddy Kong.

All I ever hear about Amiibos these days is how sold-out they are. Has Nintendo just messed up and underestimated the popularity of their product or are they purposefully making them in small batches or something?

If it wasn't obvious before, I think we all know now that this is on purpose.

Just a Nintendo thing to do I guess.

Jesus.

Is this still a Los Angeles port problem?

I really, really hope Nintendo re-prints a lot of these.

It was never a port problem, just a NoA sucks problem.

These are only getting worse with each wave, and should be expected to be like this going forward.

I've only stuck with ones I actually want and most of my favorites have been common like Bowser and DK, or easy to get at the time like Dedede and Fox.

Nintendo aren't idiots for supply and demand. As long as rhe demand exceeds supply more people will be hungrier for any Nintendo product. They're pulling a Disney in marketing, like when Disney re-releases a Classic movie, rhey do it in limited qty's and put it back in the Disney vault, so demand stays high for the next 5-10 years. Nintendo knows people will buy amiibos, for collecting, scalping, etc that now wvery large box atore will want there own "custom" amiibo. I'm sure Nintendo can use the amiibo as a bargaining chip to sell more Wii U's or NX Consoles down the road. They're in a better position than Sony as rhey have a new revenue stream to cater to there fans.

I feel like anyone who hasn't already figured out by now that Nintendo is fleecing you with this stealth-limited-edition bullshit deserves whatever pain and suffering they get. I mean, how many times do you have to see an amiibo release sell out within seconds of pre-orders going online at 4am to learn?

I'm not going to go out my way to race people to check out because Nintendo can't produce more than 20 figures at a time. I decided to totally ignore the entire product line the moment it became apparent that I was going to have to jump through hoops to buy one.

Fucking Nintendo, I actually wanted that one. They need to get their shit together and also stop doing retailer exclusives outside of alternate colors.

Are you fucking joking me? Do you have any idea how wrong this statement is, in a way that has nothing to do with your opinion of Nintendo?

Unbelievable.

Why are people repeatedly making an identical rebuttal to the same post? Yes, it's a bad analogy but five or six of these posts on the same page across hours isn't really necessary.

That is all can I think of when I see these threads, the Beanie Baby bubble in the 90s.
Thing is, the Beanie Baby stuff was inherently just a kinda random collectable. But plenty of people have an attachment to Link, Mario, Samus, etc. Even people that don't buy Nintendo's consoles anymore.

There is no doubt a crazy and exploitative reseller element affecting the market on these things, but some of them I can easily still see selling well even without that element. Not as well as they are now, but the limited runs probably would still sell out fine even without that.

The Beanie Baby craze was driven far more by the 'reseller' element.

Nintendo is controlling supply and demand well, just like Activision with rare Skylanders figures. They're keeping their core market engaged and on the hunt. Flood the market and theres a lot less incentive to collect day one and eventually at all. Its different from say Wii shortages because you need to manage the same customers over a long time instead of rely on new customers.

Its not like the factories couldn't pump out as many as they need. They're just doing smart business.

At the expense of pissing on their customers. Nintendo is a company I've always respected because they create quality products but the way they're treating this whole amiibo thing is disrespectful to their fans.
