Just over three million video games were sold in the UK during November, which is a drop of 33% over the year before (GSD data).

It seems like a big fall, but there are two pretty significant caveats. First, Call of Duty launched in November last year, whereas it released in October this year, which means we don't have a major game release this time around. Second, Black Friday doesn't sit within this year's November data period, whereas it did last year. As a result, December's figures are likely to be significantly higher.

Black Friday data is available, however. And we can see that 1.53 million games were sold during Black Friday week, which is a fall of over 8% compared with Black Friday 2023.

Unfortunately, the absence of Black Friday does skew all the statistics somewhat. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is No.1 once again, followed by EA Sports FC 25. EA's football game's sales are 22% lower in November this year compared to last year. Black Friday data is missing, but if we skip ahead and look purely at that sales week, EA Sports FC's Black Friday performance in 2024 is 20% behind that it did in 2023.

The highest charting new release of the month is Dragon Age: The Veilguard at No.3. EA's title has had a slow start to life. After four weeks on sale, it is the 12th fastest-selling game of the year, ahead of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (+1.5%), but behind the likes of Astro Bot (-9.6%), Star Wars Outlaws (-15%), Dragon's Dogma 2 (-21%) and Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (-28%).

Another new release is Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which just misses out on the Top Ten at No.11. After three weeks on sale, it is the slowest selling of the Mario RPGs released these past 12 months, with sales 16% lower than Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (released in May) and 19% behind Super Mario RPG (released in November last year). Both of thosegames are remakes of previously popular releases.

It's worth noting we are only comparing physical sales here with the Mario titles, as Nintendo does not share digital data with the charts supplier.

Over in hardware, nearly 270,000 games consoles were sold in November, a spike of 85% over October but a big drop of 45% over the same period in 2023 (Nielsen GfK data).

The decline may appear steep, but again, this is due to the absence of Black Friday data. According to GfK, Black Friday sales were strong for consoles, with more PS5s sold this Black Friday than the previous one.

November did see the release of the new PS5 Pro console. The premium device represented 26% of all PS5 consoles sold last month.

Elsewhere, 1.05 million accessories were sold in the UK during November (Nielsen GfK data). This is 58% up over October, but down 18% over the same time last year (again, Black Friday being later this year has impacted that).

The DualSense controllers remain the top selling accessories (the White one is No.1, while the Midnight Black edition sits at No.2). A new DualSense, the 30th Anniversary Limited Edition variant, debuts at No.4.

Hardware sales estimates from Installbase:

BF UK 2023:
PS5 - 83K
XBS - 58K
NSW - 54K

BF UK 2022:
PS5 - 26K
XBS - 58K
NSW - 61K

BF UK 2024:
PS5 is up YoY

Nov 2023 estimates:
PS5 : 242K
XBS : 132K
NSW : 112K

Assuming similar marketshare of prior months that PS5 had in the UK, I estimate something like:
PS5 : 150K
XBS : 55-65K
NSW : 55-65K

That would put PS5 Nov 2024 with BF as 233K+

Another rare incel victory?
No, it's just that the English market has always been a bit sick in the head in terms of game sales. That's why the planet made the only right decision, isolating them from the rest of Europe with water, otherwise the infection would have spread there too. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

To me it shows either we gonna get some decent discounts on the pr0 soon or its sales gonna drop off a clif in next few months.
I think they've already dropped, especially with all the negative press coverage from DF. There were some decent discounts during BF so we might see those come back later next year to boost sales once more.

Uh, why would we get discounts soon? It's doing slightly better than PS4 Pro which didn't get a discount.

That's a fair point but I think in December things might change.

My reasoning behind that conclusion is- november ps5pr0 demand was pent up demand from last few months, so once disc drives are finally avaiable, and i think it will happen max in next 3-4 months, after that to get new ps5pr0 customers sony will need to give some incentives, could be a discount, could be a bundle with high profile game(like gta6) or something among those lines, lets wait next few months and see what they figure out :)

Dragon Age seems like will not last on this list at all, and the game is already on discount.

Yeah, it's been on heavy discount, a third off, for weeks now, at least for all major US retailers. I'm assuming something similar happened in the UK. So these debut figures need to take that into account - it's been "on sale," heavily marked down, for a good portion of that time.

Rebirth was selling badly for a new AAA Final Fantasy game, and DA Veilguards was barely outselling it and is currently trailing behind another flop of the year, Starwars Outlaws.

My estimation for DA Veilguards and other games worldwide numbers based on the sales data

DD2 - 3.3m
FF7 Rebirth ~2.7m
Starwars Outlaws ~2.2m
AstroBot ~2m
DA Veilguards ~1.8m

Bodes well for PS5 and the Pro. And Veilguard seems to have had worse legs than DD2.

Interesting that there's so many Switch bundle games in the top 10 when Switch hardware sakes don't seem to be that good.

Sony dead yet? Heard Concord broke them.
Yeah, I still crack up at the the posts that did their best to tell me how that was going to be some show stopping event. Meanwhile, the Pro has had a good start, Astrobot is GOTY, profits are up, and they’re selling more PS5s than last year…

There’s the internet and then there’s reality. Poison picked.

Sony is doing much better than expected with yoy growth.
It's not like they had a weak holiday season last year with the Slim and Spiderman2, they shipped over 8m units ww.
They seem to be doing better (tomorrow we'll get US data and I expect the same) and the PS5 Pro is contributing very positively.

Let's also note that the Horizon Remaster is at n.7, only Sony game in the top ten and it gives a clear idea of why people online are detached from reality.

And notice, there's another game they've latched onto that only has a 4 minute Introductory trailer. Add it to the list with "the PS Portal will flop because it has no use" category too.

Do we have estimates of the final numbers?

I see this.

Assuming similar marketshare of prior months that PS5 had in the UK, I estimate something like:
PS5 : 150K
XBS : 55-65K
NSW : 55-65K

That would put PS5 Nov 2024 with BF as 233K+

But nothing solid?

Gross UK, gross.

The UK is a mess when it comes to games. I don't know many people who play games much anymore, I know plenty who have a PS5 or an XSX but they never use them or all they play is COD and FIFA/Sport games, Big 1st party games like Spiderman and GOW will sell well but that's it.

Games like FF and any rpg for that matter are alien in the UK, We brits have awful taste in games sadly.

Are they really selling more than last year. Most Pros go to PS5 owners so unless most sell their base models, they don't really increase the sales of the overall platform. Seems like an overall weak start for the Pro to me.
Playstation up vs last BF is huge! 5Pro selling better than 4Pro in most markets is a pleasant surprise too.
How do you get 5pro is selling better than 4Pro from one month of data?

You take that back!

By looking at the month it's been out? I mean, how else are you going to do it?
