GT4 not working!

GT4 was released in australia today, so I go down and pickup my preorder.

Come back, put it in the PS2, try to boot it up... doesn't work. Ok, that's fine, My PS2 is a bit old anyway, plus the laser is a bit weak; other games often require 1+ reboots to get them working.

7 reboots later, well that's not good.

Put it into my PC DVD ROM, shows me that it's 3.2 gigs large. I thought this game was 9gigs? Well, I guess there's alot of hidden data that my PC can't see.

Retry it again, a few more times. Still not working.

Anyway, the deal is I've modded my PS2 from a while back, original games that I have still work (upto Soul Calibur 2). And so do recent games that I've downloaded.

Is it the laser? does it have problems reading dual layer DVDs? It can play DVDs fine...

does GT4 not like mod-chips?

I guess I'll just return my copy and get another copy... if that doesn't work, I'll save up for a PSTwo I guess.

1. Older PS2 units have trouble reading DVD9 disks, the fact that you say your laser is weak just addon's on to the problem of the PS2 not being able to read it.

2. You're only seeing 3.2GB because that's the first layer, not many DVD-rom drives can read both layers at the same time (I don't think any of them can) you'll need something to explore the disk there are utilities like. The game is burned on a DVD9 disk which is about 8.7GB of space but the game itself is only about 6GB.

3.Admitting that you've downloaded games and are talking abotu using them is a bannable offence! (IIRC)

Better Edit your post.

That is the problem. No doubt about it.
