GT5:Prologue - Official Thread of Lap Times, Leaderboards & Pride

Edit: I've just given the wheel to my dad and exposed him to manual gears for the first time. He keeps changing up far to early and when asked why, he said "I'm trying to conserve the engine". He used to own the same car and always had pistons blowing up.

:lol :lol my dad did the same thing. i wanted to hear he engine of the new skyline, to show him, but he kept changing at 3.000/4000 rpms. just too much real life for our dads i think...

anyway, i did had a go at the london challenge with the elise. so far i have a 54'1xx. before the end of the chalenge i want to dedicate an hour or two to get to 53's and then post the time.

i'm still mourning about the online time trials. i improved my time, got almost a perfect lap, only to be beaten by a guy that deliberately cut the chicane to save 0'5/0'6 in his lap. ugly. i don't know if i can catch the dirty bastard. (stupid 0'042)

anyway, traveling tomorrow, but i should be back tuesday for some runs in the new challenges as well as the elise one.

Updated the main post, managed a 1:11.336 on London, might be able to get under the :11 barrier with a little more work (I'm still running a fever, wouldn't believe how hot I feel after that bit of driving lol)

See? I knew my lap was crap!

Also, remind your dad that despite the graphics, it's still just a game. :D

Suzuka TVR: 2:23.665

Coul never hook up a lap in the Tuscan (ridiculous at Dunlop exit), took 5 attempts to complete a lap and that was it. A clear 1.5seconds worth of laptime remaining I think.

Touched the wall at T1 i think, but only slightly. Marvelharvey, your lap had the obvious mistake at T2 which you probably managed not to make in all other laps (but tends to happen in the better ones, that's why there's never a perfect one :)), so there's an obvious spot to improve, but right after that, at T3, you (and I in this lap) brake a little. In one attempt I managed to make T3 without braking and it was quite faster, you just have to find the correct line, and avoid bumping the corner on the right side. :) The rest of the lap I think it's pretty similar, but I think you still have a better last corner. Most of the advantage I have came from the first four corners I believe.

Oh, and I didn''t have a fever. Go! :D

I'm not doing more thna 10lap run at any time at the moment, playing with the controller is destroying my hands ( i press too hard). Would love to do your crazy 1hr maximum attack style sessions but can't at the moment.

Lol 1 hr! The other day I did 2+ hours at london to get the top time but overall it must have been about 7 or 8 throughout the night. With small pauses to check GAF and such, of course. :lol

My dad managed 104 laps of London nonstop last night, he has a highly addictive personality! At lap 30, a message popped up to say 'no more space to save replay' and I was expecting some sort of Xbox 360 achievement to pop up when he hit 100 laps, but alas, it didn't.

Wow, seriously good laptime. I wonder if I really should invest in 2 hours of driving to beat you? The answer will probably be: yes. Actually, I have a feeling that our weekly TTing might be a better indication of who had the most free time to waste more than anything else :lol

Judging from your previous lap, which had that bump in T2 and was pretty much the same as mine everywhere else (and better than mine in the last corner), I think you can beat it in less time than that. :)
I beat your time in 20 laps (by 0.2 or something lol), got to 1'10:xx in about 25 and from then on almost all my laps were in the 10's. If it wasn't for T2 you'd have probably got to 1:10 too... and after you know how to do it, it's just a matter of not screwing up. :)

I just tried the TVR, S3 challenge at Suzuka.

Note to self: Never buy a TVR

:lol Glad I'm not the only one. It's the first time Suzuka felt horrible for me. It is epic lulz with N tyres.

I might change that challenge because it's the opposite of fun. Nah, to hell with it, masochists rejoice!

So, I was trying to get Gold in the S-6 event with the GTR in Professional mode. Is it possible? o:)

Edit: Just did it in Standard... easy. Would have gotten to 1st position at the beginning of lap 8 but crashed into the leader in T1 coz the bastard braked like hell, and got 7 secs penalization. Ended up passing him at the end of the same lap and won the race with about 10 secs lead.
In Professional I made two (major) mistakes, one slide and a late braking that together cost me 13/14 secs, and ended in 2nd about 27 secs from the leader. Even doing 2:08's in the laps where I don't overtake I don't see myself getting near him. And I end up overtaking most of the cars in the slow corners and not in the long straights where I'd gain some time. I could try to always have one car ahead of me in the straights but would have to lose some time to do so and it would be the same result.

I remember that when I began doing the events I was doing all of them in Pro mode, and I got gold in all but one of C-class, and all but two in B I think. I then realized Standard was much faster and started using it. Are the events done for Standard mode or am I just not good enough? *cries*

Suzuka right? In professional is nigh on impossible unless you can 2:07 consistently, which most people can't. In standard I can get to the leader by lap 7 at the latest, lapping 2:03 to 2:04.5 in clear air consistently. You need an average gain of 3.5s/lap, since the leader laps in 2:11 whatever the case maybe.

Timetrials are not desinged for pro from a-mode and up, maybe even b.

Hell, consistent 2:07 is practically impossible (at least for me). My best is 2:08.2x and i'm 7th in the online ranking, the top position is 2:07.7x :S

The challenge is impossible then

Or else I suck... and the top guys in that ranking suck too. :lol

Doubt it. Fastest guy in the world is trek450 or YAM23 both Japanese, normally 0.5s/lap faster then the rest. I recall your name on GTHD rankings. trek450 is on average ~0.5s/lap faster. The guys at Suzuka aren't shabby at all.

The challenge isn't designed for pro-mode. You need 2:07 average, which includes traffic. So you need to put in a 2:05 or 2:06 in clear air.

:D

I'm not playing it too much my WE2008 arrived in the same day I bought it on PSN JAP! (and I have R&C here, doesn't playint it too, the same reason :lol )

When I play online, I usually don't play in a race with all opponents :(

And the online system could be better, can't make private rooms, or invite friends just sucks!

I just got my G25 wheel yesterday, and ran a 1.04.000 with my 350Z, pro settings, clutch enabled, gate-shifter enabled, R3 tires, all assists and managements off. Yep, right on the dot with that time.

"Clutch enabled"

I only pretend to use the clutch. Are you telling me that the game supports the clutch? Show me where in the options?

OK, OP updated with new times, looks like FirewalkR is leading this one, is anyone even playing? lol. I've done 13 laps of London, 4 of Suzuka and 7 of Daytona... and not a single Daytona lap counted as I gained a penalty for something each lap, oops. I'll have about 3 hours free on Sunday to try some more laps though.

I feel like I'm getting RSI from the DS3 when I play this. It is extremely painful for me. Last thing I did was 2 laps at Suzuka with the GT-R. 2 laps!! :lol

I need to get a new wheel soon!

Will try and have a proper go on Saturday.

Can any one of you with a 100% or near 100% save file (or hell even just with few high-end cars unlocked) post the save file. I'd need a save file for downloadable version of GT5P.

London: G25 wheel, ran a 59.720 with my 350Z, pro settings, clutch enabled, gate-shifter enabled, R3 tires, all assists and managements off. And there's room for improvement, but I just kept getting sloppier and sloppier with every lap. Grrr.

Oof, I'm an asshat. It was London. But as you can see, I demolished that. =)

Had to improve coz some dude had stolen my 1st place in the ranking. It must belong to GAF! :D
(I wouldn't be surprised if someone really good shaved this by more than 1 second)

Hmm, considering only FirewalkR seems to be the only one who's put any serious effort in this week, it looks like he's going to clinch is with ease.

Next weeks challenges will be a little bit mixed up, enjoy!

Finally, remember that there's still a few hours to go to win Nofi's special GT memorabilia, so don't forget to put in a hot lap... remembering that my lap doesn't count, so there's still a chance to win!

I certainly hope so. I'm surprised that PD didn't just copy the net/lobby code across from Warhawk and tweak it for themselves.

Wooo!! New record. Ran this one after only 3 laps - didn't even need to warm up. And my setup is rather uncomfortable. Somebody else do a run with a Z and G25 wheel.

London: G25 wheel, ran a 59.263 with my 350Z, pro settings, clutch enabled, gate-shifter enabled, R3 tires, all assists and managements off.

59.227 same stats as above. Dunno' how much more I can squeeze out. My shifting is practically flawless, I feel like. And my lines are superb. Can someone go buy a 350Z and use their G25 wheel? I'd like to see how decent I am.

Why is my stupid time from back in December on the online chart? And my other times aren't? How the hell do I get my best time up there? I should be in 23rd place. Although I'd probably be in the top 5 somewhere since I am playing with a wheel, and I doubt many others are.
