GTA V PC Performance Thread

Just hopped out of work... Which I went to after class. Which I went to after the gym.

Needless to say, this time until the unlock will fly by because I'm having myself a nice nap.

I'll post back later tonight with performance/settings on my hardware

GTX 980 4GB SC'ed
i7 3770k OC'ed
Win. 7 Ultimate
8GB Ram

Awesome day.

Got a i5 2500k (stock) and GTX 560Ti (overclocked) with 8GB Ram. GTA 4 ran like shit on my PC (had to reduce some effects). Anyone have similar setup on GTA 5? What are your performance numbers like?

GTA5 isn't out yet, so, no one has any numbers yet.

My plan is to see what I can do at 1080p for a mostly consistent 60fps, and then maybe see if I can dial things back a bit to hit 1440p/60fps with still reasonable settings.

Same. I'll take downsampling over ever so slightly better shadows any day. If DoF is a hog, then even better. I hate that shit anyway.

Don't know if it's just me, but ever since i installed the new nvidia drivers, i've had weird audio glitches (audio has weird volume spikes when i'm watching a video or listening to music).
I'll look into it more, but i didn't have this problem prior to the (yes, clean) installation of the new drivers.

Hmm installed the new GTA-approved Geforce drivers and now RGB colormode won't keep on 'full', might have to rely on that old Durante app for the time being.

Also had to reformat one of my hdd's and merge the partitions to be able to decrypt the preload.

Had to delete my Linux partitions from my SSD and extend the volume to create space.

i7 4790k OC'ed to 4.7ghz

So jelly. I can't even get mine to hit the stock 4.4 on all cores.

Hi King :D Welcome to the thread! That's some mighty fine specs you got there, should have no issue maxing this bad boy out :)

lol
PC games can't be maxed out. (unless there are hard resolution limits)

As someone who put a lot of hours into the PS4/PS3 version, seeing this first video from the PC editor...... O_O

New AMD drivers released with CFX profiles for this and... Dirt 4. Guess that's announced now? lol.
EDIT: Aww too late :(

I am wondering how the game will work on default clocked FX8350, 8gb ram and minimally factory clocked R9 270X [2gb vram]...

I don't expect to be able to crank the settings in 1440p on a single 780ti, but it will be interesting to see how far I can go in 1080 vs 1440. (stable 60)

I'm with ya bro. Let me 1440p/60fps on my 780 Ti and I'll be the happiest dude for days.

Fuck, is there any way to move a pre-load's HDD? I accidentally downloaded it on my HDD and want to move it to my SSD
Just drag and drop the directory in the "common" folder to another destination. Just make sure the new directory is known as a destination by steam.

My computer powered off and rebooted while I was at work, now it's going to take another 3 hours to finish downloading.

Shit.
Shit shit shit.

Got the same setup as you man hope it works!

I'm curious to see what my 2600k oced to 4.4ghz and 780 Ti can do @ 1080p. It's been a while since I've played games. Hope they still serve me well for GTA 5. I'm also running this with a Samsung 830 SSD and 16GB of RAM.

At this point its probably better to wait till the game is released, decrypt the game then transfer the game over.

I just did mine from win 7 hdd to win 8 on SSD. Mine was a RSC preload. I started the installer and let it dl like 500mb then copied my backup over on top. Installer verified n happy, am good to go :)

We have basically the same setup. I reckon 1080p/60 is going to be extremely easy. The only issues might be Vram based for max draw distance and AA.

So I just built my new pc over the weekend and it's my first "gaming" rig. 4790k, ssd, 16gb ram, and a gtx 970. Is there a consensus of what I might expect to achieve in this game?

A good experience, based off previews. As for what specific settings and performance, we haven't had specifics.

If you preloaded on Steam, then move the 'depotcache' folder to the other drive, restart Steam and start the preload again, specifying your new drive (and steam library location), Steam will detect the preloaded files and you'll be good.

I originally preloaded it into a HDD but moved it to my SSD, all seemed to go fine for me.

Will benchmark it in the next few hours. 5930k, 16gb ddr4 3000, titan x sli. Curious to see how well it handles 4k 60

What you said confuses me a bit, maxing out a game meaning turning all graphics options to the highest possible option. Resolution cap would be at 4K, no?

Resolution cap would be at 4K, no?

There isn't a resolution cap on this game from what Rockstar said, or at least it isn't capped at 4K. Most games that support arbitrary resolutions don't have a hard resolution cap, at least not one that can be reasonably reached even with downsampling.

Most decent 3D engines can support whatever resolution you throw at it, that could be 4x 4K for all it matters.

Depends on resolution.

If the recommended specs are to believed, and the 660ti can get 1080p60 at med, you can probably achieve 720p60 med, or 1080p60 low.

:(

Won't be picking it up then sadly, if I can't run it looking as good as on PS4 in 60fps then I don't see the point.

What the hell is with AMD and Crossfire profile all the time? They never have fixes for single card setups or optimizations for the same.

I sure hope not.

Do you think 4k is the biggest resolution there can ever be?

Nope, it's already been surpassed. There are 8K (FUHD / 7680×4320 resolution) TV's and cameras out there already!
