GTA V PC Performance Thread

What the hell is with AMD and Crossfire profile all the time? They never have fixes for single card setups or optimizations for the same.

I'm assuming they're included with the updated profiles for the games -- I'd hope so at any rate because since Omega back in '14 I haven't updated and I probably should :/ I'd hope these help single cards too for GTA V.

Not OT but I also just noticed that AMDmatt at Guru3D accidentally noted down the Dirt 4 profiles and they're not listed anywhere else on the official release -- whoops.

Really looking forward to getting this when my new machine arrives next week. An OCed 5960X, 32GB of RAM, 2 970s in SLI, and a 1TB Samsung EVO 950. (Yes, I know some of those are overkill for gaming, but I'm going to be doing a lot of video work on my new rig).

Only going to be running at 1200p @ 60FPS for now, and I'll look into getting a GSync display when the prices come down and the tech matures, but it should still look phenomenal when running at the highest settings.

Do you think 4k is the biggest resolution there can ever be?

No.

It unlocks at around 9AM here in Australia, which is right when work starts :(

How quick were Rockstar to patch Max Payne 3 when that was new? If (lol) there are bugs and other broken things hopefully we won't get left hanging for a week before a fix comes out.

Got a i5 2500k (stock) and GTX 560Ti (overclocked) with 8GB Ram. GTA 4 ran like shit on my PC (had to reduce some effects). Anyone have similar setup on GTA 5? What are your performance numbers like?

I had the same setup before I upgraded to 970. Curious to know how I would have faired.

12 pages already and practically only one impression (and from reddit, at that)? :-P

Anyway, I'll be at work when this unlock, so I will just be watching this thread with a keen interest.

Isn't it just crazy to think 1080p compared to 8k UHD is a bigger overall difference than 480p compared to 1080p?

That stuff just boggles my mind when I think about it. I already can't stand watching 480p content on a 1080p display.
Couple of years ago we were watching YouTube videos at 360 and weren't complaining. Kinda crazy how we're all reaching for 4k now and then 8k in the years to come.

Sweet, primary and secondary key bindings. Let's hope they fully support 5+ button mice.

If it doesn't use X-button mouse control one of the greatest programs for remapping mouse buttons.

The game has raw support and a german video showed tons of options for customization including mouse stuff.

Oh yeah, that is a helpful program. I just rebound a bunch of my buttons to keyboard binds since I have a G502 mouse, that way I don't have to worry about an extra program.

I just hate when games don't support even the most standard of gaming mice. I mean, 5-button mice were common on the PC even before the 360 released.

Reversed course. Hooked up my 4k monitor to give that a go first before ROG Swfit/Gsync. Always amazes me how much more real space there is at 4k when I switch back and forth between the two.

I'll be able to test it on a few rigs.

5820k OC 4.5ghz, DDR4 @ 3000mhz, 2 980s in SLI

4770k OC 4.4ghz, DDR3 @ 2400mhz, 2 780s in SLI

A10-5800k APU, DDR3 @ 2133mhz

I have a 660, 750ti, and a 7850 around here somewhere too.

Hoping to run at 1440p 144hz but if the game doesn't support high refresh rates I'll settle for 4k 60fps.

One of these things is not like the other.

I have that exact CPU as part of a rig-in-pieces in my garage right now, for testing stuff. Neat chip.

I have it in my HTPC right now. I'm consistently surprised by how well it performs. Fun chip to play around with.

I remember reading a quote from someone who saw an 8k huge monitor for the first time. On screen was a woman looking out a window and they said it was unnerving because they couldn't discern a difference between the monitor and real life. They felt like she was staring right at them.

Um. This nvidia driver update now has my PC black screened with a cursor popping up and disappearing every couple seconds. Been sitting for 5 minutes. What the fuck. :(

Welcome to PC gaming, updating drivers everytime you want to play a game, wasting half of your free time to troubleshoot stuff. No wonder Rockstar takes 2 years to release the PC version of the game.

edit: I'm just kidding while waiting for the unlock.

Lol. I wouldn't go that far. I only mentioned it because I've never had anything like this happen and the timing is impeccable.
