"Grand Theft Auto V has stopped working" x1000 today
Why.. It worked perfectly yesterday.
This is happening to me today. I can't even play GTA Online...it's crashing within 5 minutes each time.

That's what I'm starting to think. I'm tempted to upgrade to 16GB - if I bought my old sticks it'd be another $60 which isn't bad.
The blur from FXAA in this game is *seriously* minor. That's the assumption I made when seeing how Rockstar had implemented it here, seems like a watered down form of FXAA. I do hate the blurring it presents normally but when no other AA option is there (that does not kill the framerate) I would take it.
It's just I honestly see only a very small benefit from using it here which is a shame because even on a 980 any other form of AA is a no go unless you want to sacrifice visual fidelity over jaggies.
Is there no way to inject SMAA currently?
Post FX set to the lowest, no AA apart from FXAA, long shadows off and now grass too? :/ I think I'll wait for a patch instead. I really can't justify lowering down too many stuff on a GTX 980. It seems like a different team did the countryside, it's horrible even with a Gsync monitor it goes under 30 like half the time.

And you can inject SMAA through SweetFX. But it doesn't work as well as FXAA here.
FXAA is a no brainer solution for those who cant justify doing MSAA.
I believe so, I was also experiencing a strange stutter when I had RAW input. Direct did work better, but sensitivity was a bit too low for me. I ended up with windows mouse and cranked up the sensitivity to get to where it felt just right. Personal preference.
Just tried it out and wow, I'm impressed how well it runs on my system. Especially compared to GTA IV, which looks worse and still runs like shit on my PC to this date.
Left all graphics settings at default (everything at high to very high), only increased MSAAx2 and the gameplay is absolutely smooth. From watching the Fraps FPS counter, I get about 40 FPS average and min FPS are around 33, but never below 30 FPS. Furthermore there is no stuttering at all when I spin around the camera very fast (unlike IV where the stuttering is unbearable).
My specs:
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.8 Ghz (stock, but I guess I'll overclock it now)
AMD Radeon HD 7970 Ghz Edit (3 GB VRAM) (14.5 beta drivers)
6 GB DDR3-RAM
no SSD
1080p monitor
Apparently, you can solve the FPS drops caused from using Self Radio by only having shortcuts to music files in the folder. Miiiight not actually be true.
Boop.
To make lots of shortcut, click 'n drag the files to the folder you want the shortcuts to be while holding alt.
I'm pretty sure FXAA quality is tied to the quality of post processing in this game. On the higher levels of post processing it definitely seems to have less jaggies, and it makes sense on a technical level at FXAA is post processed AA.
I've run into s strange issue today with the controller. I'm using the ds4 with ds4 tool (scopServer) which emulates a x360 controller and the LT / l2 button is somehow stuck, so my character will be always be aiming a gun when equipped and the I can see the break light on when entering vehicles although the car isn't reversing.
I've used the ds4 controller native without the ds4 tool and everything works fine, so it can't be the controller - the down side here is there's no vibration.
I've reset all control options to defaut and I've also tried my PS3 controller using another ds3 tool and I have the same issue.
I can use alternate controls, aim with L1 and shoot with R1 and there doesn't seem to be any issues doing this on foot but the vehicles still have the brake light on.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Just ran the benchmark and it seems the FPS drop to low 20s in some areas on my system. But I guess I can overcome this by tweaking the graphics settings and by overclocking my CPU. Nonetheless it runs much smoother than IV which had this awful stutering although the actual FPS are sufficiently high.Nice I was about to ask what to expect with my specs, but we're about par. I have a 7950 3gb, and a i7 920 but mine is OC'd to 3.6 Ghz. Also have 16 gb ram and an SSD. So hopefully I'll get similar performance and even better after I tweak some stuff. Don't care much about MSAA and I also don't care for certain effects like motion blur and DOF which can improve things a good deal.

So, in the countryside I have 62-75fps at 1080p. Only had to put the Grass Detail on Very High instead of Ultra, still looked decent. Modest i7 930, gtx 970, 6gb ddr3, Spinpoint F3 HDD with same win 7 install from around 2009/10.
I don't think the game has bad FXAA usage
it may be minor but it's better than throwing vaseline on your screen which is what most games do
Thanks for posting those shots, the difference is clear. Shame that postfx also include massive amounts of bloom on very high and ultra settings, otherwise I'd have used that. This is correct. Just tested it. First picture is no FXAA, second is FXAA with normal post FX, third is FXAA with ultra post FX.
Okay, I got paid so I'm putting some money into upgrading motherboard and Processor, this is what I'm going to have:
AMD FX-8320E 3.2GHz 8 Core
MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+
TX 560 SE
4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3
My processor was the bottleneck but now I'm guessing my card will become the new bottleneck, but I'm hoping this will improve a lot of the issues i've been facing. Will I be able to pull like medium settings in GTA with this?
Anyone else getting a lot of 5-10 second hangs every so often?
A Core i5 would be much better for that set up, even the low end @3.0 mhz would do better.
If you can't afford to upgrade de mobo to intel, maybe 8gb ram, 4gb is the very minimun these days.
My autosave corrupted. The game crashed so I reloaded it and the game just sat on the loading screen (seemingly) indefinitely (10 mins as a test).
The thing is is that the game wasn't saving when it crashed. It was a good 10 minutes after the last autosave so I have no idea what has happened.
Thankfully I have a manual save but I lost around a hour and 30 mins.
Ah, okay, I gotcha, thank you. I'm actually going to get 8 gigs with next check but I'll look into the i5.
I spent a lot of time helping a friend with a similar issue today. The indefinite load was caused by having the Grass setting on anything higher than normal. Not sure what caused it maybe saving at a certain place on the map.
Good investment especially if you get one on sale. Someone should also say to get a good cooler air or water so you can oc and get even more value.

Don't buy AMD processors.
I echo this. Even the Haswell i3s match or exceed AMDs best processors.
Alt+tab.
Or using multigpu.
Don't buy AMD processors.
And for the love of god, buy at least 8GB of RAM.
