Any consensus on whether ultra grass is worth the performance hit? I'm trying to decide between locked 60 fps with very high grass (no grass shadows) or drops as low as 42 fps with ultra grass (but it looks so beautiful!!)...
Reposting to see if there's any info on older cards, like GTX 560Ti, yet
Ugh, those Kepler benchmarks. 780 ti comparable to the 290... 780 to the 280x :S.
All that vram the Titan wont even come close to touching...
I7 3770k @ 4.2ghz
SLI GTX 780ti @ 1242mhz with boost
32gigs of DDR3
Windows 8.1 64bit
50-60FPS 99% of the time at 2560x1440, with all settings at max and x2 MSAA.
Some people are saying this might be due to the custom music radio station?
What's your view distance setting at? I'm fairly certain you're having a streaming issue. I had the same problem and I had to set mine lower.Thanks. Unfortunately this was happening before I set up my custom station.
More CPU benchmark. i7 5960x takes the top spot despite of running at a measly 3.0ghz, which indicates some great multi-core scaling.

Including ultra grass? Have you tried going into the countryside?
Why does the physical copies of the game require a patch?
Yup.
Haven't gotten that far yet.
I have a GTX 860M, i7 4810, 8GB RAM, installed to SSD and getting a pretty solid 1080p, 30FPS.
I know it's not as cool as 60FPS with maxed out settings, but you have to make some concessions with a year old mid-range gaming laptop. Got textures to very high (even though the settings is giving a warning that I'm out of memory) and the rest of the settings on a mix of high to very high (and a couple to normal). I'm already pretty impressed with how it looks, though I am curious to see if I can bump up a few more settings without sacrificing too much performance.
So far seems like an incredibly well optimized port. Compared to the opposite end of the spectrum, I could never get AC Unity to run as any more than a stuttering chugfest on this machine.
Shaqiri? Are you Albanian?
Btw my framerate always goes to shit when in the countryside. It's smooth as butter in the city, weird.
Wait so does MFAA work with FXAA or not? I got like 3 different answers haha.
So what's the verdict on a 970? What can one expect to disable to ensure 1080p 60fps?
So I don't know how to take screenshots in this game but has anyone noticed a kind of "draw distance" for shadows? Like within a certain - very small - radius, the shadows look great. Move back and there's this line that travels and blurs out some shadows and removes others. It's kind of like a pop-in.
I've adjusted almost everything I could think of and can't pin it down. I have max draw distance and even half extended long shadows distance. Thoughts? It's very obnoxious.
Yup, originally from Kosovo.
I will test out my performance in the countryside when i get home.
I have to quote myself here, regarding the grass and MSAA problem, it looks like some sort of sorting problem to me...see here: http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Transparency_map#Sorting_ProblemsWeird.
Lowering grass detail from ultra to very high did the trick for me. Meaning that i can stay above 30 frames in the countryside.Turning shadows down a notch seems to help quite a bit in the city, but once you get to the areas where there is heavy foliage, prepare to gimp A LOT of settings. Stuff like post fx, long/soft/high resolution shadows have to be disabled or you're looking at sub 30fps. Mine went down to 23 before I had to lower those settings.
I'm on i7-4790K, GTX 970 if you're wondering.
Pathetic Rockstar. This is the worst experience I've ever had with a game. Granted I've never had many issues in the past on PC, but still this is pretty fucking horrible. Downloaded the game for a 3rd time, got it to boot up this time, unlike the second time I dl'd it. Go to run the benchmark and ERR_FIL_PACK3. Fuck you. Is it really that hard to put a file verification system in place on your 60gb game? Something small devs and publishers often do for their games that are a 1/10 the size of yours.
Windom Earle 's settings from the previous page run well. I suppose I'll see what happens when I get there but I ran the benchmark and there were very few drops from 60fps which included the country side.Turning shadows down a notch seems to help quite a bit in the city, but once you get to the areas where there is heavy foliage, prepare to gimp A LOT of settings. Shit, I'll have to try fullscreen since so many of you are saying it gets rid of the stuttering.
RIP borderless window![]()

Didn't grab the game yet, but I'm glad Nvidia loaded the GTX 980M with 8GB of VRAM.
Someone should post this in that 'Core i3 is the sweet spot' thread. Lmao.
Anyone know why I'm getting this pixelated shit in the bottom right?>
My video card isn't dying, and its the only game that does it.

Get a friend to run an md5 of each file and compare them so you can figure out which file is borked.
Considering there are numerous draw distance sliders for shadows and long shadows etc etc, this has to be a bug. This shouldn't happen with everything cranked up. Also lot's of flickering shadows, I hope it gets patched.
Glad to see is not just me, the shadows are making me crazy.

With these settings last night on stock clocks on my Titan X's, I got the following:

Played for about a hour today. Completed Father/Son mission which involves a fair amount of driving around, and I got these numbers today with an overclock:

Right at 60fps. 11 fps gain from my OC. Again this is with 4x MSAA, TXAA, 4k and max everything else. Pretty amazing and it looks incredible.

Found a MD5 sum checker program someone made, pretty much everything is corrupted. Truly amazing work Rockstar.
2.) When vsync is turned off in game, the menus get extremely laggy (I'm on a 144hz monitor, not sure if that happens to matter in some way).
haha, you got some corrupted .rpf files too? That downloader is truly the worst.
