GTA V PC Performance Thread

I can't figure out how to turn MFAA on, it doesn't let me in the geforce experience panel.

When I turn it on in the nvidia control panel, it still says that it's off for GTA V

Are you running an SLI setup? As far as I know MFAA does not work in SLI :(

What causes the hard edged square box to appear around your character sometimes? Is it high resolution shadows freaking out?

I had the same thing happen to me last night, it disappeared after a few seconds though. No idea what caused it.

Damn 290x blew out Monday night. Of course. Tempted to slap my 660 in until my new card arrives in a few days. The wife is out of town and GTA5 would certainly help pass the time. Should I do it?

I have 660ti and it runs the game damn well on high settings.

Does anyone know of a way to increase game volume beyond what is allotted in the options?

I know i could go into sound options in windows and boost it but then im having to uncheck it every time i do something else.

Like is there a config file where i can set the value over 1.0 or something?

Which ver. of SweetFx works with this game? I gave it a shot with Bolotaur's SweetFX Injector, and nothing happens?!

How do you guys get it to work?

How do you set the page file? I know that this is my problem. And what are the hard limits on it? My 560ti is aging, but the game runs at 60 with everything at normal until it tries to load more textures. I really don't want to play with low texture quality.

-I've enabled vsynch in Nvidia panel
-I've disabled vsynch in game
-I still only have 29/59hz options

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing, switching from in-game V-Sync to forcing it in the Nvidia Control Panel will not change how the options appear in the game menus, but it will get the game locked at 60fps instead of 59fps. Use your favourite frame rate monitoring software to confirm for yourself.

It's also a good idea to limit your framerate to 60fps to avoid any tiny blips over that. RivaTuner Statistics Server will do the aforementioned locking and limiting for you.

I have a GTX 970 connected to a 1440p korean monitor via DVI and an AV receiver connected via HDMI.

I got rid of the 59hz crap by disabling the HDMI connection in device manager. Now Borderless Window mode lets me get up to 96hz!
From my experiences, if you run the game in full screen it runs better. Like 3-5fps but it could be placebo.

Unchecking what exactly? You can always use the sound options to just boost one application.

Does your TV/Monitor/speaker or keyboard have no volume controls?

I have set 60fps max limit in RTSS and also inside MSI afterburner, is RTSS enough?

So I have to manually add the GTAV.exe in my Nvidia control panel?

What are some recommended settings besides adaptive v-sync? DSR?

Also is it okay to enable v-sync? I usually have it off in games.

So I added GTAV.EXE and there is no DSR option. Whereas in drop down menu some games have it.

How do I get DSR on GATV?

This game is so nicely optimized.
CPU utilization is at 90%+, framerate pretty much never goes below 60, and that is with everything very high, only shadows high, on 280X + 2500K 4ghz.

It shows what CPU can do, my GPU is not 100% more powerful than PS4's (probably 50% at most), but I am getting 100% more performance, with higher details to boot.

Hmm... Speaking of the page file thing I have my pc set at 1024... I set this a few years ago when switching over to an SSD to save on some hard drive space.

Does setting the page file higher than 1024 impact the game performance in a positive way somehow? I just set it and forgot about it until you guys started mentioning it...

loudness equalization or whatever that boost setting is in windows sound options

and they do, but they are maxxed, its still not that loud in GTAV when compared with general windows sound and other games

This game takes so long to load :s.

Think about getting an SSD?

After the initial game boot-up, the loads times are pretty much non-existent for me. I spend more time waiting for other people to load in online games than anything else.

And I'm only running on SATA2 interface.

SATA3 is even faster. I just don't feel like buying a new mobo or CPU yet.

Just saw that..what is the smoothness? More = smoother = intensive(r)?

Higher = blurrier. Lower is sharper. Not sure about performance impact. If you hate the way FXAA looks for example, you'll want it lower. The default of 33 percent seems like a good balance to me.

So you have your volume set to 100 but GTA is still too quiet? What audio device is it set to in GTA? It'll have like Stereo, stereo 5.1, etc.

You are just going to end up distorting the audio.

I have an SSD but it's only 120GB, I'd rather not have to buy a new one just for GTA either.

my PC should wipe the floor with this game however it seems to have problems with it, it's quite frustrating.

i have noticed the sound seems muted also, compared to my other games which sound fine. its just not loud enough at 'normal' levels

I found the cause of my light source shimmering: MSAA. It was worse with MFAA enabled in nVidia control panel. MSAA on its own was slightly less severe.

I think for performance/framerate I will just run with FXAA. In the day MSAA is pretty much fine but the night time brings about some horrible shimmering.

On a non performance related issue: I jumped out of the blimp and thought I had a parachute... To add insult to injury I landed on a lamp post.

970 sits right at that 3.4 GB VRAM zone and doesn't want to go over.

I'm running 1440p and I'm just leaving AA off entirely. At that resolution, MSAA is way too expensive and FXAA puts a noticeable hit to IQ.

As a TitanX owner, I really should mimic their graphics settings and see if I can get similar results. My FPS is between 60-70 @ 2560x1440, and that is WITHOUT MSAA. Even worse in grass-heavy areas. But they have a lot of settings turned down or disabled.

My game crashes before getting into Story Mode. Choosing "Safe Mode" from the RSC launcher doesn't seem to help. Is this happening to anybody else?

So yeah, the game now crashes every 15min or so for me, always with the same error.

Anyone got this fixed by a chance?
i5 4570 / GTX 970, latest drivers

Anyone turn off all AA completely at 1080p? Are you happy with the look?

The FXAA just seems to have some weird moments. I'd downsample but I don't think my system could handle it.

I've been getting some artifacting in the bottom right corner of the screen if I turn on any level of AA, getting worse as it goes from 2x on up, too the point where it's almost a solid box of artifacts in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Anybody experience something like that? I've got a 7970 3GB.

Other than that, it runs at pretty much 60fps with everything on high/very high.

I have a 980 and I get nowhere near 60fps at 1440p with 2xMSAA.

Edit: Didn't read that they had some settings turned down.

Gah this game runs like a damn dream on my pc. Really really surprised.

Running maxed (fxaa applied but I'll inject smaa instead) at 1440p and the lowest it drops is to about 52 fps but it's at 60 nearly all the time. So good!!!

I'm getting 70-90 FPS on a 970 with no AA at 1440p (that includes reflection AA).

FXAA looks like trash and MSAA is far too expensive.

No matter what I try, I cannot stop this game from stuttering like shit.
Really starting to piss me off.

Ya I get stutters ever so often even with gsync.

I'm wondering if the VRAM on the 970 is bumping up to the point where it slows down dramatically.

During the benchmark I get sudden drops to 20 for like a split second, there must be a memory leak or a huge Vram spike for no apparent reason even with a 4GB 980.
