The "Advanced Graphics" tabs have 4 (I think) settings that will make your GPU cry. Show us those.
As you can see everything is off in Advanced Graphics

Except that nearest neighbor isn't used for scaling so it becomes a blurry image just like any other non-native low resolution.
Is this true? That's really weird. I'm still at mostly 60fps so I never really noticed, but that's certainly odd.I wish I could get smooth framerates AND use self radio. It drops 5-10 fps with that station on.
Yeah I can get a pretty steady 60 on mostly very high at 1080p but when I turn that station on its 50-55 and stutters. Is this true? That's really weird. I'm still at mostly 60fps so I never really noticed, but that's certainly odd.
Wouldn't it still look smoother at 72fps, or half of the refresh rate? I mean yeah, if you force your monitor to drop down to 60, of course, but it doesn't look like he's doing that.
Is it worth getting a second 970 for SLI? I'm using a gsync monitor atm.
Is the 970 that much more powerful than a 780? I have a stock oc'ed 780 (1100mhz boosted) paired with a 4.5ghz 3570k and I don't even think it could come close to holding a steady 60fps at 1440p
Yeah what the hell, so it wasn't my imagination. If I take the res down to 1080p it does look blurry. 1440p looks better, but still a little blurry (I notice it even more now that I'm aware of the effects of scaling down on a 4k monitor... So damn you guys lol).Except that nearest neighbor isn't used for scaling so it becomes a blurry image just like any other non-native low resolution.
We got the same GPU, and yeah, I believe a 960-970 would do us great.
I am on 1080, not sure what resolution you play at.
That's not really the way frames per second work. Monitors only really did the whole 144hz thing because one company started it and the rest wanted to join the "me too" club. 144hz is just a multiplicative of 24 (6 times it) which would only ever be a benefit for games or movies.
In regards to how we perceive motion when interacting with it, multiples of 30 in framerate will make a more cohesive image and thus 30/60/90(very rare)/120 are more standard.

CPU usage?
Should definitely hit 60fps constant with your settings.
its not advised to SLI a 970 due to the 3.5GB VRAM issue. Wait for the next best card.

Go to the countryside if you really want to evaluate your performance.Still not got into the countryside yet but this is 1440p. Every setting on Graphics is set to the highest except I'm using fxaa and x4msaa on reflections, get 60-80fps. I've seen 57-58 fps the odd time, mostly its low 60s.

In game DOF was off when taking the pics, I switched it on and had no affect on frame rates
i7 930
GTX 970
At 2880x1620 I get 45ish with the same settings, it starts to look decent then, no shimmer. So will probably lock at 30fps at something like 3200-1800p for image quality reasons
So you're saying 72 fps would be no smoother in 144hz mode than 60fps?
Also I have a 144hz monitor should I use that, or keep it at default 60hz?
Why can't I hold a steady 60fps? I have GTX 970 and i7 2600k, these are my settings

I dont know what you guys mean about countryside killing your performance
I assume you mean being inside the actual forests? like with the hunting cletus missions?
that's the only time my framerate kinda halved and I was inside some bushes. I doubt i'll need to do that a lot tho as to lower my settings

I am running a steady 60fps with dips to 55 but rare, unless you hit the countryside and it drops to 40fps ish. otherwise very smooth running. i have all settings at very high, except for
MSAA at 2x
reflections at Ultra
FXAA and TXAA off
reflection MSAA off
Grass is very high
Shadows is softer
Post FX is very high
Motion blur - 4 notches
under advanced graphics all options are set to on.
the extended sliders are set at level 3 (3 notches from the left)
overall like said it runs like a dream on the old sandybridge!
my spec
i7 2600K @ 4.5Ghz
MSI GTX970 4GB
8GB
Windows 8.1
have you overclocked your cpu?
In general my fps just seems to be at 40-50 at the city and I have my cpu overclocked at 3.50ghz
With those settings, you really shouldn't be having problems holding a steady framerate.
Just a question, unless you're running with GSync, why aren't you aiming for 72fps? 60fps isn't going to look as good on a 144hz monitor, as you'll get frequent juddering. Unless you bump it back down into 120hz mode.
I used your settings exactly and get 90-110fps and lowest is 85
i7 930 gtx 970
Is it just the countryside you get low fps or in general

there's so many variables to going through an open world game and compare performance that this thread ends up being not that useful or with some real "huh? how!?" moments
I mean maybe when he was driving it was another time of day, maybe something exploded, maybe he was going not as fast, maybe there werent that many cars in that moment
you guys should use the benchmark or something
What program are you using to get that info?
Rivatuner comes with MSI afterburner.
I need to try this.
I have noticed that if a game has an in-game refresh rate setting and I don't change it to match the monitor (144hz), it does create quite a bit of judder. I never have thought of changing the monitor or trying to lock the game at half (72hz). I think my issues may be from the game trying to run up to 144hz and my rig just doesn't have the horsepower to do it. Wild framerate swings from 144 down to under 60 just probably don't work well.
What program are you using to get that info?
Ugh see I can't get RT to show that info ingame. I keep having to use fraps and it doesn't show CPU usage.

Dear god 4k looks incredible.
And dear god 30fps is not incredible.
Oh man I hate tough choices so freaking much. I'm the most indecisive human on the planet.
I'll definitely try this out.I think the motion blur looks really nice, so I'm playing at 30 with it all the way up.
