Those aren't humans you're seeing in the trailers. They're Xandarians from the planet Xandar. The only human in the movie (that we've seen) is Star-Lord.As someone with only the movies as knowledge base, What I don't understand is the fact that there are humans up in space on other planets and stuff xD This movie is clearly dealing with a lot of futuristic stuff, not to mention lots of odd aliens, yet the other movies are very, no pun intended, down to Earth. Yet they all take place in the same timeframe somehow? This seems way above SHIELD tech levels (which are already beyond anything else on Earth). On the other hand, it seemed like SHIELD met with the collector in this Knowhere place at the end of the last movie? Granted, I haven't seen the winter soldier yet so maybe there's a tie there? Just seems to me like there's a missing logical puzzle piece somewhere that links it all together. That said, I'm incredibly hyped for this, even with next to zero background or prior knowledge about cosmic marvelA human space prison with aliens seem to clash really hard with the avengers and spidey universe (same place, I know), especially given the omg Thor and nordic gods are real piece in Avengers? I don't get it xD

Oh okay fair enoughThose aren't humans you're seeing in the trailers. They're Xandarians from the planet Xandar. The only human in the movie (that we've seen) is Star-Lord.
Just like the Collector isn't human, nor are the people of Asgard. They just have a similar outward appearance.
Okay! It's not available in theaters here anymore I believe but I'm waiting! So it answers my questions in some way or another? From what I've heard, Guardians 2 and Avengers 3 might be a cross-over or something to connect the two beyond post-credit scenes and easter eggs? You NEED to watch CA: The Winter Soldier. Really, GO NOW! I won't spoil anything but is a must see.
Well, you'll have to see the movie featuring Peter Quill to know Peter Quill history, won't you? I could answer it right now if you don't mind. In short,Oh okay fair enoughMaybe it's tied to the quote below but a human in space, criminal or no, seems like a big deal all things considered xD
The latest issue of Total Film magazine features a spread on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy that has intriguing on-set quotes from director James Gunn and the film's principal cast members (Lee Pace says Ronan the Accuser "passes judgement and only values the strong; anything that's weaker is annihilated"). The UK magazine also watched as one scene was filming . It features dialoge betwee Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer, Chris Pratt's Peter Quill, Zoe Saldana's Gamora, and a man in blue spandex that was a stand-in for Groot, later voiced by Vin Diesel, as the four misfits arel inside of Ronan the Accuser's spacecraft called the Dark Aster. Check it out below!
Gamora, Drax, Star-Lord, and Groot move tentatively forward, deeper into the Dark Aster. "I want you all to know I am grateful for your acceptance after my blunders," says Drax. "We al make mistakes Drax," says Quill. They're scoping out the wreckage of the Dark Aster, guns and blasters at the ready."It is pleasing to once again have friends," Drax emotes, slowly, with gravity, as if he's speaking a language he's unused to. "I can barely see," he says, as the four move further into the ship. Groot waves his arm (when CGI Groot is added in post we'll see him disperse luminous spoors which light up the room). "How did you learn to do this?" Drax asks. "I'm pretty sure the answer is 'I Am Groot'" Quill quips. "You, Quill, are my friend," muses Drax. "This dumb tree is my friend. And this green whore is now my..." "You must STOP!" snaps Gamora, furious. Off-screen we hear Karen Gillan's Nebula: "Gamora, look at what you have done. You have always been weak, you stupid traitorous..." "Nobody talks to my friends like that!" bellows Drax. "But whore is perfectly fine?" Gamora quips back.
Afterwards, Chris Pratt told Total Film that "My nose was itching that whole time [during the scene]." The Star-Lord actor later revealed that his character is stuck in the Earthly period even though he's been in space ever since he was abducted as a child. "...He's like Bon Jovi, John Stamos, Young Guns, he's big into that period of time and doesn't really know any better," says Pratt. "So, he still makes these really outdated references that no one gets - they're like 'We're from space. We don't know who John Stamos is!'" Also, TF reports that Dave Bautista was having trouble with his lines, particularly the one where he calls Gomora a whore. "Drax is a total badass - obviously you don't want to mess with this guy, but then out of nowhere he'll just pop out of character and just be this innocent little kid. It's perfect for me because it's really who I am," said Bautista.
So he is basically like old school Drax. Who would be raging, blow up a planet or rip a star apart one minute than the next he wants to pet a kitten. Disney parks will be showing an "extended" sneak peek of the film starting July 4. Disneyland in California and Hollywood Studios in Florida. In-park, so admission is required.

Is this good? Or is the more modern incarnation of Drax better?

I am glad she made it back from the ass end of the universe where he dumped her.Modern Drax is sort of "generic badass," though he had a bit more depth when he and Cammi were paired up. I think they're probably playing up that corner of it - a "papa bear" sort of soft side.
There was a nineties incarnation of Drax who destroyed most of a city and fought Merged Hulk to a standstill because he wanted a saxophone.
And then Merged Hulk got blamed for the whole thing and just decided he shouldn't have gotten up that day.
So yeah. I like this interpretation of Drax.

God, I love comic plots summed up like this. They're fucking hilarious.

Has anyone been paying to attention to the fan posters that James Gunn has been putting up on facebook? I really want Marvel to get these people to make full-sized versions and put them up for sale.

In closing, I'm gonna say the film is a lot of fun. I honestly don't want to give away ANY of the movie with this review because this is one film that needs every scene to be savored (and also I signed an NDA lol). Do yourself a favor and remain unspoiled. It's how I saw the movie (apart from what the trailers showed) and even though you're obviously reading this review, read no others with any kind of spoilers whatsoever. Experience the awesomeness for yourself. GOTG as a movie and as a team on screen is an unstoppable force. I'm just going to say, Rocket & Groot combination equals AWESOME and leave it at that. This movie defines MUST SEE when it comes out.[/url]
Comicbookmovie.com has spoiler free first impressions from early screening GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY:
