Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Going with my old wow guild. but not sure what they have decided yet...all this alliance talk is making me nervous we are going to end up on a server with a bunch of 1337 hardcore wvw queue stealing jerks.

Factions is worth playing if only for it's remarkably terrible voice acting.
 
I finally caved and bought this from GMG using one of the 25% off codes(PCGMR-ALLIN-GREEN) to grab it for $45. Downloading the client now, really looking forward to it later this month.

Glad we finally got resolution on this. We had to set a deadline to make this decision and I felt like we needed to do it somewhat soon. All of us got together and im surprised at how seamless and quick we came to decision as a group. Now all we have to do is wait for the 25th! That won't be too hard right guys?

Human female dances look like they're straight out of a 90s rap video.

Edit - Don't know what to make of the human male dance.
 
Lol, dances are hilarious, now if they would add another dance emote with a more serious note for RP issues, it'll be perfect.

Man those dances... The norn look pretty darn silly but at least they aren't dancing like they're the lead singer of a hardcore band like the char. I think it's good the dances are absurd though. When you /dance you usually are doing it to be silly in the first place.

Team Legacy said a similar thing in the past, but at least they were pretty polite about it. They said (to paraphrase) "We know we have a lot of fans out there that want to play with us, but if we advertise our server in advance, the server is going to fill up, and people who are actually in the guild won't be able to join." I can respect that, especially since we encountered that ourselves in BWE3.

Certainly there's a lot of truth to it. A large WvW alliance, especially one that proved quite successful during the last beta is going to draw a large crowd of people who want to be on the winning team. I can see that they want to avoid everyone rushing to be on their server and filling it up immediately. Still, they don't have to be dicks about it. Oh well, one more reason to be glad we aren't (hopefully) going to be on their server.

I want to avoid any server that has TL and Titan. But people already know my hatred for TL, and screw dealing with WvW queues with Titan. Being on that server is just asking for drama.

Definitely. I seriously believe that there will be a few people that are already level 80 before the game releases on Tuesday. Heck, I think there will be 80s by Sunday night, early Monday morning.

Yes. It's a prepurchase, so you are good to go for early release. Not sure about time conversion, but the GAF guild site says "2 weeks, 4 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes" from right NOW! Go! :)

The stress test last week came up at the exact announced time. I'm pretty sure they will do the same with release, as they know how touchy a subject it is for people grabbing names. Should they go up early for release, I could just imagine the uproar from the community.
 
Has anyone recently prepurchased the game from GW2 site? I'm just curious because some guy over at gw2 guru said order numbers are sequential starting at 25900000. He also posted an order number from yesterday and it was 27148014 which means over 1.1 million digital orders from that site so far. Interesting if true.

I did. My order number is 26157614. Would be pretty amazing if that's the case.

Oh no doubt, we want to avoid them at all costs. I think everyone is in agreement on that. My only fear is that they (or a similar group) will coincidentally roll on our server. But then our fearless leaders went to great lengths to pick a server that would be unlikely for that to happen, so we should be okay.
