There was an OVA called Gunpla Builders Beginning G, which had a similar premise to GBF and a Gunpla Battle system. The featured gundam, Beginning Gundam, is the one Reiji built with Aila.
 
Well, finished this today. I really did enjoy it, but the story didn't really complete, there were a lot of small plot thread left unaccounted. The whole Meijin thing never really makes much since or is fleshed out, and what the Chairman said in earlier episodes doesn't really match up with the final reveal.

Plus no matter your hatred for any show in the franchise all of them helped make Build the way it is. So if your in this thread out of love for the series in the OP then you shouldn't be slamming any of the series, at least here.

And before Corvo can mention the lack of AGE, shush.

Yeah I desperately need to follow that advice and shut my trap for G and Destiny.

Still weird to think that Reiji's Gundam (and China's too, I suppose) are based on a show about gunpla where gundam is a show, which GBF itself is.

No, season 2 should be a prequel/sequel, like the Godfather 2.

Have Sei's dad courting Rin Chan, fighting Mr. Ral and Master Chinan in custom RX-78-2, while future Sei met Queen Aila who escaped to Earth.
 
i just find it hilarious that the oldies even have a combo musou tornado attack. Like when would that ever be applicable? Were there large scale gunpla rp campaigns? team vs team battles? horde mode vs ai?

Watched like 17 more episodes of this show simply because I expected more of this!!!! Though dat sweater in every other episode was hunnggghhh~
 
Episode 26 - Gunpla Dreamers

Soo good. Reiji and Aila in Arian was the best part to me. I can't wait for them to get back to earth though.

It was pretty freaking sweet. I can't believe they had a Sentinel cameo. I thought Sunrise didn't have the rights to it?

I wish this was a real episode ;_;

So, does everyone agree that the best fight in the show was the battle between the Renato bros. and Yuki?

EX-S showed up in episode 17, it even had a short fight. Unless you mean characters from that novel.

Star Build Strike vs Fenice
Kaempfer Amazing vs GM Sniper K9
Bearguy III vs SD Knight Gundam :D
 
Yeah, I've gotta give it to the Star Build Strike vs Fenice fight as well. I love the music and the flashback montage of Fellini customizing his Gunpla over the years.

After that it is Kampfer vs Sniper and Build Gundam vs Zaku Amazing II (their first "fight" is great too).

This would be my top 3 too. The Strike//Fenice fight prior to the tournament was just fantastically animated and choreographed.
