Pucchiguy. MUST HAVE!

But yeah, the series has all the right rivals but they weren't revealed early and built up to make the matches real That's the biggest problem with Try. The first season did this perfectly, particularly with Fellini which resulted in the best episode in the series IMO. It's a shame the Nils and Mao fights afterwards were really big snoozefests. =/

I'm not surprised, but still disappointed that the Star Winning gunpla is kind of shit. I know it's only SD grade, but the amount of crappy stickers it has is really a bummer. Time to pray for RG grade

I didn't think the Nils fight was that bad, it was at the very least fun to watch and pretty funny with the Caroline backstory in the background. The Mao battle was by far the worst episode of the series, and I don't understand why they thought having everyone should "we are having fun!" makes for tension or anything resembling a good episode.

It wasn't just the "We're having fun" thing but the fact the battle was just so uninspired. Mao pull's out his trump card and then it immediately gets beat by a Build Knuckle without it doing anything, which was so stupid. Like there was no builder match going on in the battle like how they kind of hyped it up to be. Despite all the blemishes that this Junya fight has, at least it felt like there was a fight and a new technique was revealed.

So are we all in agreement that Sei/Reiji vs Felini was the greatest episode?

Yeah, but I also loved Meijin vs the twin brothers battle too. Those 2 battles are my favourites.

I was happy that the Matsunaga team got off screened. Just seeing them in the opening annoyed me.

Meijin vs Renato is great but it's I like it purely from a tactical perspective. I think the Fellini fight and the Meijin vs Sei & Reiji rematch are better overall as fights that have emotional investment

Yup, I'd also put the final episode up there just for pure spectacle alone

Meijin vs Renabros:

- Two fringe but classic suit designs in Kampfer and GM Sniper
- Both were very creatively customized, with Kampfer's binders and GM Sniper's K9 backpack, both of the customization actually jive with the fighting styles of their pilots
- Tactics and positioning out the wazoo, it's one of the few fights where the stage really mattered
- Some truly crazy gunpla reference like the tiny figurines being independent units and Meijin oiling the joints
- One of the better clash of ideologies as everyone knows someone like the hypercompetitive no-fun-allowed personalities like the Renato bros
- No punching
- EXAM-U

Yeah but on the other hand

1: Meijin vs Reiji (ep6)
2: Meijin vs Renato Bros
3: Reiji vs Fellini

hm: that time when Ral and Chinan teamed up because FUCK YEAH

Wait, the Fellini fight also has Reiji turning on a beam saber while it is still on his belt and the turn off saber during a clash move. And that customizing Fenice montage!

Arrghh this is close.

Any gundam battle that begin with an headbutt ....

can only be great.

please don't prove me wrong
Uh...

Meijin vs Renabros was the best hands down.
It was the most well animated fight of the show.
heck every meijin fight was godly animated.
He's only 35~

35 in human years ...
Ral is obviously different

the only issue I have with try fighters is that I feel like they don't explain shit correctly. At least in the first season everything kinda made sense since it was believable/they sorta explained it. Here we have assimilation, placebo/nocebo effect (who the fuck names this shit?), and just what happened last episode. I'm still trying to figure out wth sekai does. They need sei to come in one episode and just educate them on try burning

Jigen haoh ryu ??

What? Mao went all out with that Gundam X mod. Solar powered Satellite cannon, then solar powered array + moon microwave beam = giant ass beam sword. It was a bunch of cool gimmick that kind of freshened up the Gundam X gimmick.

It's not Mao's fault that he was just another sucker jobbing to the build knuckle.

No. As in, it wasn't gimmick vs gimmick in the match itself. It was straight up a brawl ending with build knuckle vs Microwave Sword. instead of them pulling out all of their tricks on each other throughout the match.

wasn't the whole point of the battle based on mao knowing he couldn't win in any situation. thought he talked about how he went over every scenario and always lost, so he went all out

It's been awhile so I don't recall. If it was, then blegh was that stupid.

That's my number two after Build Fighters Ep. 6 where they fight Tatsuya the second time. The music in that battle is amazing and I love how the fight becomes this close up brawl with no real gimmicks or super moves.
Wow, you guys just made me rewatch this and the Fellini fight :( . I miss the comedy and gundam references from Sei too.

They made S2 so much more about the Gunpla battles but they all feel lackluster.

Yeah but on the other hand

Yeah. I'm not the biggest fan of Wing but this was an awesome scene. That whole episode was the essence of Gunpla Battle to me.

Meijin vs Bros was really really really good too. Better for tactical strategy and all that but it didn't have the same level of emotion either.

How can you have good 3v3 fights when only 4 of the 6 fighters are actual characters, and one of the 4 is artistic gunpla contest winner.

The team format actually had meaning in the beginning of the show. There was gyanko and friends, team Ez8, team swimming, team jelly girl and tryhardlord.

And then it stopped mattering until the Gunpla Academy.

One of the teams is literally one character copy-pasted 3 times, along with his gundam.

Yep. Best animated and choreographed fight of the entire series. But the first Meijin fight and Meijin vs. Renato brothers are pretty good too.

you know, all this talk about how Try has done a poor job of building up rivals compared to S1, but honestly Fellini was the only one worth a damn. Nils and Mao were so annoying, and Meijin was given too little screentime.

this sticker talk is really saddening, maybe I should have bought paint? I guess I was spoiled by HG Bear Guy III, didn't know SD star winning meant SD = cheapo
The Star Winning has landed

Let the stickers begin!
amiami is still preorder status, should I have bought somewhere else? where'd you go?

Looks like we are going to get an individual Pucchi Guy kit released after all!

Will be released in multiple colors too! Same colors as the ones in the ending credits?

So are we all in agreement that Sei/Reiji vs Felini was the greatest episode?

100%

Animation, battle, music. All perfect. Still get goosebumps watching that episode and I've seen it 10+ times.

I just paid for mine on AmiAmi so they should be shipping in the next day.

Also the stickers can't be any worse than the HGUC Silver Bullet I was working on recently.

SD kit is great for learning how to paint gundam. They're cheap, not many parts as hg/mg, and the painted result is so much better than sticker, and really satisfying too when you're finished. I've been making mostly SD kit lately and skip most of the sticker except for the eye sticker. I'm Still a beginner and the result is not clean when you look closely, but from a distance, they look awesome.

Here's example of my painted sd kit and straight build I found from internet of sengoku astray sd

It's just tamiya spray can, masked tape, and a little hand painted for the small area.
