Awww yiss. Full Cloth gonna fuck you up Gunpla Academy!

pls

Boooo, screw you for playing with my heart like that
even though we knew who was going to win anyway.

Full Cloth is dabes. Definitely one of the better episodes this season if not the best (which is saying a lot), but man dat lack of budget compared to the first. Teams actually using tactics! Who would've thought?

Gundam Build Fighters Episode 21:

I'll be honest, if we had more battle like this this season we would have had a much better season. It is refreshing to have a battle where I am actually emotionally invested in the characters on both sides and I actually care about who wins and such. Also, it is very refreshing to see one of these battles rely on actual fucking tactics instead of every god damned shonen cliche in the book. This was a highlight of the season for me.

GBF - Try 21:
So what was the point of having Sekai freak the fuck out last episode?
That makes no damn sense.

I also love that NOW we're getting team strategies in the show about team strategies.
Ugh.

Dat Crossbone. I was really hoping
they'd make Gunpla Academy lose especially after we got the really cheesy 'to the future' light.

Best episode of the season, much closer to the S1 style of doing things than whatever Try's been trying to accomplish lately.

Crossbone and Transient deserve more than a round of applause after that.

Lucas was great. Tactics, Skills and Performance, oh my. Full Cloth too good. Not a stock HG. Not a stock HG at all. I can see why the new HG for it is called "Type GBFT" now.
Though considering we don't actually HAVE an HG for the Full Cloth, it's kind of funny. Though maybe Shia's statement was implying that she thought he used the regular Crossbone HG and modded it into Full Cloth?

Kijima-senior
shot through the floating island and damn near Third Impact'd the Crossbone with Transient Burst. If nothing else, the eventual fight between Try Burning and Transient will be quite the disco-rave.

That reminds me. What the hell, G Portent?
That thing is almost Turn A invincible with those Haro Repair Bots. Crossbone literally damaged it enough to render it non-functional and they repaired it enough that it could get back in.

So I guess next week we get Super Robots vs Real Robots. Might be cool. Will watch just for the hotblooded screaming.

Yeah kinda disappointed on the result, but that was a nice ep.

Me too.
Lucas
was robbed.

I wanna say she was shocked it had a Core Fighter unit, as the HG normally doesn't? I don't have an HG Crossbone, so I don't know.

So why is particle emission such a ridiculous disadvantage for Crossbone yet none of the other Gunplas ever had this problem to this extent? I mean Wilfred's Gunpla either repeatedly matched or at the end outproduced Crossbone.

First episode where I had noooooo clue who was gonna win

This is easily, easily the best episode in the entire season. It may even be better than the previous season, too. Both teams deserved that round of applause, wow.

HG Crossbone doesn't have a core fighter that can be placed in the upper body like that.

It's a contrived asspull. If anything, the only problem an actual Crossbone unit ever had regarding power was its usage of the i-Field generators and Hi-Muramasa blaster for a prolonged period of time.

Episode 21

They totally went DBZ with the battle this week. Power levels, lots of screaming, lots of energy dueling. Just crazy shit. This wasn't Gundam at all, but I didn't give a shit, just watching Crossbones animated is soooooo cool. Too bad Lucas Nemesis didn't have a better plan than "pls resupply me while I try to solo this TEAM battle" lol. What a shitty strategy.

I think the biggest thing holding this new series back compared to the original is that there just isn't space to develop enough characters to make team battles interesting, so most of the fights feature teams which you know are going to scrub out because it's represented by just one named character and a filled out by nobodies as support. If Lucas actually had a team with characters who could support the narrative if they won, the fight would have been more suspenseful. :(

Sorry Minato, you're doomed! Please give us lots of great super robot action next week before you lose! T_T

I laughed when Meijin said, "This fight needs no commentary". Given the show so far, surely he couldn't be serious? But then there wasn't any commentary during the fight. And outside of the ending, which just had to end in a one-on-one clash because Gunpla or something, it was a battle where the teams matched their tactics and lineups against each other. It was probably the best fight in the series so far, even if Lucas never could have won it because his team is nobodies. It filled the entire half of the episode at a pretty brisk pace.

I think all ammo requires particles. The Full Cloth was defending and returning fire against two tricked out gunpla but it was still performing very well. That's how I read it.

I fields aint cheap.

The struggle is real playing dat front. Not enough safety kaijou and got overcosted.

The were basically giving him two lives.

I was extremely disappointed at lack of safety kaijou.

If I directed this episode, instead of stupid 1v1 bullshit I would've had him safety kaijou and then go ham on all three.

Episode 21

Going into this episode I figured there was no way Lucas was going to win, so it was good to see they were able to keep the fight entertaining and close. Definitely one of the better fights this series and no need to drag it into a second episode.

Blue Winged Future and Fire Phoenix Thingy crashing into one another will be the deciding factor in the final fight.

I really need to stop putting off reading Crossbone.

Great episode, but if they want to do another season they really need to increase the animation budget. Seriously

Wow, Lucas is basically just DOTA 2 player EternalEnvy from Cloud9.
Westerner obsessed with Japanese things and when he plays his game he makes his whole team do nothing but support him. Even had gunpla Bone7 and PLD die in order to make space and then loses a 1v3 which costs them the match

LOL

Good episode. Happy with the outcome. Always thought the Cross Bone gundams were over hyped. I just can't get over the big dumb skull.

Gundam The End did go up in my standings with this episode though.

I knew lucas could not win, but damn it if i didn't want him to survive the "future" bullshit and lose because of time.

Dear God I knew the fight was going to be shitty once I saw what Lucas was doing, I couldn't have guessed how bad it would be. Yikes.

Once you sheeple shake off the excitement of seeing Crossbone animated and a fight with actual tactics you'll come to your senses and realise this was a pretty bad episode for a number of reasons:

- The animation was pretty poor for a fight this late into the show. Really, really disappointing.

- All the characters in this show are paper thin, regardless of how much or how little time we spend with them. The scene where all the teams 'challenged' each other in stadium really highlighted how flat and lifeless they all were. The dialogue during that scene was atrocious.

- On that same theme, the Gunpla Academy are pretty boring themselves, so watching them fight a character whose is solely defined by a line of dialogue spoken last season makes for a fight I can't care about. Remember, that's Lucas' entire reason for being a fighter - one remark by one character last season.

- Lucas Nemesis has been hyped up for ages as 'serious shit' but he wasn't really a contender. What was the point of the stupid stuff at the end of last episode where Sekai 'feels his power' if only leads to this outcome? He didn't take out a single Gunpla during his battle. It would have been far more interesting if Lucas was truly a better builder and fighter than the Gunpla Academy and all three of them had to work together to take him out and they only just managed to pull it off. Instead they barely broke a sweat.

- We've had two parters for far shittier fights than this, so the pacing in this show is really bizarre considering that surely this fight is more important.

- You know that Lucas can't beat the Gunpla Academy because stories don't work that way but it was fun to entertain that hope. You could watch the fight thinking "Maybe...just maybe..." However the second you see Lucas pull out teammates that are clearly non-characters it becomes certain that victory is impossible because you know he can't beat them 3 on 1. This robs the fight of any sliver of tension it could have had.

- Even though he's clearly a good builder and fighter his big strategy is to siphon of his team's Gunpla. This is pretty lame on a strategic level. His actual tactics during the fight are far more interesting and creative at least.

This fight was disappointing to me to a certain degree. If I compare it to the fight Yuki had against the sniper GM in the first season then this one is much worse, imo, in part due to the trio format. The fact that Lucas couldn't even take out one of the academy fighters is disappointing, but that could also be due to the fact that Shia's gunpla is broken as hell with the repair bots and that the other two were always teaming up with against him. Either way though, to make the fight more believable that he would win they should have at least make it so he could completely defeat one of them.

Good to see the use of tactics in an episode again but still. Disappointing, this isn't even counting the fact that this season due to the format has way less variety than the previous one whose tournament had races, battle royales, and other such things.

That's probably that + general GBF stuff that requires him to refill on particles. He basically fought 3 on 1 for quite a lot of that episode but only was limited by his energy reserves. If he had an unlimited supply, the fight would have likely ended up different.

Well, at least in-universe. There was no way he was gonna win even with unlimited energy for the sake of the show. Lucas destroying one of their gunpla would require them to rebuild it before the finals and they'd have to asspull even more to make that happen, lol. I'm actually almost certain that the match ended on a time-out but they didn't say it in the end section of the video. Somewhat a shame we couldn't get a setup where the Gunpla Academy could lose but still be the final fight.

I agree with you. However I will say Lucas was up against some very broken GN Drive powered units with self rapair capabilities and Eva Type energy Halos from out of nowhere. Lucas lost because of a last minute stupid gimp that only affected him. This fight was poorly written for sure.

This fight was poorly written for sure.

I'm worried about the next fight. Tryon 3 is the best thing to come out of this show and I'm afraid it's single chance to really show off what it can do in a fight will be squandered.

Oh, a shot of the HG kits for the Denial Gundam and the Tryon 3.

These two and the R-Gyagya are likely purchases for me sometime in the future.
