The only grime I've been exposed to is Dizzee Rascal's first 3 albums. Also, my first Currensy project that I listened to was Pilot Talk and Covert Coup. Still trying to muster up excitement for PT3.

Goddamn @ Cigarette Boats. This is maybe better than Covert Coup. I need a balcony like Neil McCauley to listen to this shit.

Kaaris new one is out on Spotify, anyone listened to it?

Given that you won't understand the lyrics I'll say the beats are pretty much what you expect from his albums.

Good bangers, and a few that are more a mix of banger and "melodious" (for trap). It's pretty nice

So are Americans finally giving UK Grime a chance now? Only AFTER the US artists realise its a force that you can't ignore.. psh I've come here before trying to talk grime but no one bothered for it, now Kanye, Drake , Virgil etc backing your ears perk up. Ah oh well, atleast its getting some worldwide exposure now.

Musically its quite different, it came out UK electronic genres like garage, 2step, drum n bass, dub, jungle. As there are a lot of dance music elements in Grime, there are many club nights here that play instrumental grime. Quite big in the "UK Bass" scene as we all it here. Here's some classic grime instrumentals a lot of people use to have on their phones back in the day and bang on the bus! Many freestyles were spit to these, but please note Grime is not just "UK rap".:

Would love a Grime thread, that included the recent upsuruge in modern grime instrumental and vocal aswell but don't the thread would really get much activity.

I'm a grime supporter. I've dropped some in our plug sessions before etc but yea, a grime thread wouldn't get much love. If I ever become an MMA fighter this will be my walk out music:

Wish I could find it but I had this sick sc link to a bunch of big grime dudes circa 03? killing a radio show. Grime dudes do that shit all the time (roll up to a radio show and just spit 16s for like two hours) but this one in particular was great.

NVM I found what I was looking for:
Dizzee Rascal vs Slimzee on Rinse FM 2002

What is 'All I Know' doing on this album though? It sounds like something Skyzoo would rap over in 2009. Most of the feature selections are abit dodgy too, but, I'm nitpicking. Positivity 2015™; this shit is mostly dope. 'Lemonade Mimosas' is worthy of being on any Pilot Talk album, Audio Dope 5 does it's series justice, and 'Get Down' is some Norman Brown shit.

When I look at it's predecessors though, I see a couple albums with amazing runs from tracks 1-7, and this doesn't really have any area that competes with them, or enough top quality ish to put it above 1 or 2. In third place, but it's a (really) good third.

Skepta's always had that ear.

Sorry to keep clogging up the thread with old Curren$y albums, but rankings now:

Cigarette Boats > Covert Coup > PT 1 = PT 3 > PT 2 > Stoned Immaculate

Cigarette Boats is so good I don't even care that it's like 15 minutes long.

This is pretty neat. Crazy production.

Before clicking I knew the first link would be Ghetto Kyote, such an awesome beat.
But yeah, I love grime, and I really think more people should give it a shot. there's three albums I always recommend to hip hop fans because they're a great transition from one genre to another, at least I like to think so. I'll post a few sample tracks for every album if anyone is interested.

Kano - Home Sweet Home (of course lol)

Ghetto - Freedom of Speech (he goes by Ghetts these days)

(this track uses the same sample as Biggie's Ten Crack Commandments, a pretty incredible flip)

Run the Road, Vol. 2 compilation

The moment you realize he didn't include this on the album while having "u" and "For Free?" on it.

smh

The line about being Pac reincarnated made me cringe though.
For Free is amazing and anyone saying otherwise is exposing themselves as an idiot. Also this song is a GKMC left over lol

Didn't know it was a GKMC leftover, my bad.
As to "For Free?"... there's certainly someone exposing themselves as an idiot right now.

reminds me of some Blueprint 1 era Hov shit. on a scaled down budget obviously. love that beat.

Toku just posts man. That's how he does.

I believe there are credits out there. A lot of Cool & Dre and Ski.
Yeah they roughly did half and Jalil Beats and Fraud did one a piece.

Yeah definitely one of my favorite tracks I like how they flipped the beat differently than how it was on West Side Right on Time

No lies detected.

Also...just the way she talks and acts. She seems rather mature, honestly she gives me Kendrick/Cole vibes in terms of how she handles herself. Anyone that isn't catty and shaking their ass is going to have trouble until we see a really transformational female artist show up. And I just don't think it's Tink, even though she seems the closest to a Lauryn Hill type talent in recent memory.

?

That song came out more than two years ago, right before GKMC.

u is a great song and I really like For Free. Worst song on the album is For Sale imo.
