Peter and Osborn.

I wonder just how big the numbers for this are going to be

people were in love with her before Edge #2 was even on sale and it's on like, its fifth reprinting

I really want to get a physical copy of that variant but my local comic shop just closed down..
Loved her in Spider-Verse, extremely happy she is getting her own thing.

Peter and Osborn.

If that ever did come to light, it would be made just a little bit extra horrible by the fact that in Spider-Gwen's universe, Peter died in a super-powered brawl with Gwen while they were still in high school.

Which means that if Peter was seduced by Osborn, he would've been...what, 15? 16? At least 616 Gwen was in college at the time. Not that it makes it any less of a violation of her character. Spider-Gwen's Peter ending up with Osborn actually makes more sense to me. At least both of them are super villains.

Edit: removed spoilers when I realized the exact page I'm talking about is in the damn OP.

Was it stated that they were still in highschool when Peter turned into the Lizard?

It must suck knowing that the universe usually has Peter Parker as Spider-man and you're some weird alternate what-if.

What's being alluded to in panels 3&4 ("Give a big welcome..." and "All the things that girl...") of the "Origin Story" image? Instead of going pro wrestler she goes pop star?

But then she's a drummer in MJ's band? Which seems weird: doesn't seem like you could be a one-man show as a drummer, but she also couldn't mix Spider-Woman and her secret identity by having the band with her... Am I missing something?

Inferred from the sequential art on that page. Gwen is shown defending Peter from bullies on what looks to me to be a HS football field, goes from that to him giving a variant of his "I'll show them!" rant from Amazing Fantasy to him dying in Spider-Woman's arms. I guess there could be time between those events, but I interoperated it as being as close to back to back as possible.

It's not ultra strong evidence, I'll grant, but that's certainly how I read it.

Gwen is still in high school and Peter is her classmate, so yeah.

Or that. That works too.

Not a pop star I don't think. I think she just sold her powers as a variety act on a late show or something. Host looks like some horrible fusion of Conan and Letterman. Band in the background would be the show's band if that's the case.

Captain Stacy's tutting over it is just disbelief over doing the superhero version of a Dumb Pet Tricks act.

People bring up the Norman thing, that is not even the worse. The Jackal kept clowning Stacy, and eventually one of the clones caught the Carrion virus decided to hunt down the rest of the clones and kill them. Then The Jackel comes back and kills her.

The Ultimate Universe event with Galactus?

No, sorry, I was thinking of Secret Wars. I thought the whole point of that thing was to kill off all the alternate universes once and for all. It seems really odd that with that hanging in the air, especially with Catacylsm, the illuminati, the last big Thanos thing and now Secret Wars that they would start up what seems to be a fairly promising book that has the possibility of being unceremoniously wiped out by an multiseries branching storyline.

It's weird. Though I suppose there's no reason that, like Miles, Gwen couldn't come along to 616.

No, Spider-Gwen will end up in the 616 universe. Her solo comic will probably be about how she deals with that.

I really REALLY REALLY hope Marvel is learning what's working and what's not working with Agents of SMASH, because most of that book is terrible, and it looks like they're planning on doing it again with the Spiders.

Isn't the end game of this the story getting shot in the face by the whole cataclysm thing?
Quite the opposite. Avengers/Secret Wars is shutting down the whole multiverse but keeping parts of it. We already know that includes Gwen. Whatever reality/universe/multiverse is on the other side of Secret Wars, we will probably see alternate universe characters folded into the main universe. Gwen is definitely a top candidate for that.

Ahhh I see. She undoubtedly will make it over, she'll have a role in Secret Wars as well as being part of A-Force.

I don't usually buy new comics that aren't in trades, but I might have to check this out. I like the concept and that costume is among the best I've ever seen among superheroes.
