HAAK Xbox port abandoned after devs have been stuck for 14 months in trying to publish the game, even though port finished in two weeks

Never heard of this game before, but I looked it up and it looks pretty cool.

Sucks for xbox, but I'm guessing this was some sort of "clause" or xbox policy issue on their end. You snooze, you lose, I guess.

Xbox appears to be filled to the brim with other Metroidvania clones, so how did other devs manage to publish if it's so problematic for these guys? Is it because the developers are Chinese? Idk.

Game looks cool.

Hopefully xbox sort out their shit.

14 months is ridiculous time frame.

Though good to see how easy ports are from pc to xbox. Not surprising cause most devs seem to be porting games despite being 2 skus, smaller install base, competition with gamepass yada yada yada.

I wouldn't want to play any game coded by someone who can't make an account on a website. It'd probably format your C:\ drive when you run the uninstall.
Constantly being disingenuous is a real talent. A real dedication.

Kudos.

Never mind they arent complaining about issues making an account at other websites. I mean...look at the post right above yours...

Microsoft's support in Asian regions is abysmal, leading to devs & pubs not caring about the platform, leading to more abysmal support, etc. etc.

It's a "virtuous cycle"...or at least it is as a boon for others due to Microsoft's ineptitude.

oh no anyway

I wonder how many people in comments will buy it on either platform though...

P.S. they remind me of the guys who wanted MSFT bag for GP deal. I remember there was that company that was complaining about not getting approved into GP or something.

When you run a gaming platform, you would try to cater to third party and indie titles like this. You need a variety of products to appeal to people into buying your Hardware. it doesn't matter that they don't all sell, variety is the name of the game.

However, once you pivot to being a Third Party Developer, it is no longer worth your time worrying about games that aren't the biggest earners. As a Third Party Developer, your job is to focus your efforts on the biggest titles that makes the most money. Cult classics die or abandoned.

Guess which stage Xbox is at.

You can't buy what is not for sale. Platforms are suppose to support these things. Unless the platform itself is dying.

It’s crazy how MS got their fuck ups to have fans turn on the devs who make the games. It was fascinating watching people dismiss any dev who dared speak out on the issues with the series s.

It wasn’t until Larian stepped in that people realized they couldn’t use that excuse anymore.

Nah, I'm actually a bit annoyed with the response from the dev, even if it was a technical issue that needed to be addressed by MS support. It triggered a bit of PTSD.
Well it sounds like they admitted they dropped the ball. Owned that and are offering to fast track it now. Thats literally all anyone could expect them to do.

Then fix whatever this dumb backend issue is. I didnt have a problem with it.

Oh no, I'm glad that MS is addressing the backend issue with their dev portal. However, I'm not okay with this response from the dev. I think it's kinda unprofessional.

Oh yeah I agree. I meant good MS is owning it and trying to make it right. The dev response is weirdly hostile and unprofessional. They got some free publicity and could put it out now but want to throw a tantrum I guess.
