Furudate-sensei drew a nice little thank you for Kazunari Tanaka:

It's impossible not to get hyped with this show, dammit.

A nice touch that I liked is that there was cheering for other Shiratorizawa players, like Leon, instead of only Ushiwaka.

Shiratorizawa is such garbage compared to Aoba Josai so far. I can understand Oikawa's frustration.

Yeah, so far the only good players seem to be Washajimatoshikawa (why does he have like 5 names) and the guess guy. The setter just seems to be in love with Kageyama, and the others on the team are kind of non-entities.

LOL. all I can is say is just keep watching. the only reasons the crows are in it so far is because they have the best libero and a solid setter.

yah have to remember the Eagles have never been defeated

Wait, so they've won these nationals every single time, or do you mean Shira with Ushijima in the team have never been defeated?

But Karasuno about to whoop that ass anyway. I believe.

You guys are forgetting we got 2 seasons and 3 matches against Aoba Johsai, that's why you don't know the Shiratorizawa players well, making you think Ushijima is carrying them alone. I would've liked to see Shiratorizawa x Aoba Johsai before so they could've built Shiratorizawa better before the match against Karasuno, but we'll get to know the team with time. They already highlighted 3 players with more to come.

Honestly it's more of the fact that they haven't really established Ushijima as the monster he actually is. The shots of roof-ward spike bounces are alright, but really we haven't had anything close to the power emphasis of for example the Oikawa mega-spike, even though they're probably in equal tiers of power. We also haven't seen how devastating Shiratorizawa has destroyed other teams, we just hear about them beating Aobajohsai and such but although I hate Kuroko no Basuke because it's just full on stupid the way they show Aomine destroy other teams by relentless scoring/power/technique is something I would've expected they would hint at more from Haikyuu.

I love anime characters like Satori. Another example would be Midousuji from Yowamushi Pedal.

Hopefully it doesn't shift completely to Ushijima in the coming episodes, but I'm looking forward to it either way.

I think from the show all we know is that for the last 2 years Shiratoriawa is undefeated in Miyagi prefecture and that they usually/always play Seijoh in the finals.

Shiatorizawa has definitely lost before though iirc - pretty sure that Karasuno reached nationals the year where they had the Little Giant, so that would mean the Eagles lost as some point there

They're talking about while Ushijima has been there I believe, since we know Aoba Johsai have lost to them while Oikawa was there. Not undefeated for the entire time. We also know Oikawa has lost to Ushijima in junior high as well, making it that much more frustrating for him.

I think we have a pretty good idea that it's taken Nishinoya two games to pick up his spike.

The have shown in flashbacks and stuff that shira has won the first 2 years with ushijima. They were always a good team before him though.

Nationals is where they go after this tournament. Their prefecture is so small that only one team can go through to nationals. Meanwhile Tokyo can send the runner up as well.

Edit: great episode this week. The crows got it tough

DEAR GOD! That Tsukishima moment! It got me all hyped up! I'm all fuzzy from it. YOOOOOOO

Little mention to Hinata and Kageyama, They both had their own awesome moments.

Here is a cool pic I found too.

Jesus what an episode, that was up there with the last episode of season 2's final match. And we're only 2 sets in.

Fucking intense.

I thought I was ready.

I wasn't.

Having watched the scene 20 times over, I think both the manga and anime adaptation, while different, are equally great.

Tsukishima's cry in the manga is more sudden and impactful, and in the anime it slowly builds towards the big moment. They're different, but both are powerful.

I was hoping for a silent crowd during Tsukishima's inner monologue, and they delivered.

"Just a club"

Quoting myself from the manga thread back when I first read it, I cried over fictional volleyball.

another solid was launched into pure epicness all thanks to Tsuki.

that monologue and block was epic. I don't remember how it went in the manga so I gotta back.

Finally Tsuki has bought in and started "playing". If I were a coach, I don't know if I would've had somebody like him on my team. If you don't buy in I don't need you in the floor

Also Hinata has had plenty of time to work on his serves. It's kinda ridiculous that they are still bad

Hinatas serves and digs are later addressed. He is still a newbie. Like this is the guy a couple months ago used to spike with his eyes closed. This is why the crows have a great setter <3

This episode was up there with last seasons Yamaguchi serves ep. So good when Tsukki and the rest of the team screamed their lungs out

Well, they are going over the net now instead of hitting the terrifying setter on the back of his head. I say that's some major progress!

Haikyuu!! Ep 4

Hey, that was hype!

I thought the previous two episodes were a bit meh. I mean, still competent but in comparison with the past seasons they were just 'normal'. But this episode shows how thrilling can be, with a moving climax and building up the characterization of one of the characters of the team that until now was more in the background. How finally after two seasons and three episodes Tsuki really wants to win and feel the match was a great moment.

However it wasn't perfect, I noticed how the series felt the necessity of explaining THREE TIME the play, one in Tsuki's mind and through his actions, another in other players and another repeated again by the audience in the seats. I suppose that's a shonen for you.
