It would be hilarious if it ends up being a HL1 or 2 remake instead.

Likely it will be what it's always been : nothing.

Im not saying that Half Life 3 is never coming but aren't we at a point where anyone old enough to care isn't going to listen to these rumors? We've been hearing it over a decade at this point. Either it comes or it doesn't.

Like I remember waiting for TF2 on pins and needles and it didn't come out for like five years after I stopped caring. What can you do, nothing.

Here's my thing with Valve: I absolutely don't care about what "they are working on", not even if confirmed by someone credible enough (so not Tyler the Running Gag), simply because there's no guarantee whatsoever that whatever they are working is actually getting a release rather than being canned on a whim.
I will care only about what they release.

Need rumors on Steam Deck 2, and the VR thingy, With more Alyx, Maybe HL 3 will connect all the games together.
Like that movie M3gan 2.0 we need GlaDOS to help with the fight.

It's their pack in "freebie" if you buy their new VR hardware...which only a small group of folks will.
They sold close to 200,000 index units, right?

Tyler McVicker or Gabe Follower are NOT reliable sources with their own knowledge, at least not McVicker. Game Follower also does not have sources at Valve, he is just digging through assets.

My guess would be that HLX refers to a remake of HL2 in the CS2 engine.

Dude has been leaking Half-Life 3 15 years now, he's bound to be right eventually!

The level of stupidity on the internet is giant, people doesn't understand what data miner is

I Remember the series s which leaked practically everything and people still denied that was real one day before the announcement

I'm telling you, when this first trailer comes out, the internet will break, steam will go down, etc. No game in history is capable of doing something like that besides Half Life 3 (No, not even GTA6).

A remake of HL2 wouldn't need the new systems found in the leaks. Unless they are doing a retcon of HL2's story, which would be a terrible idea and big slap in the face of fans.

Got a big feeling that it's real and that Half Life 3 will steal the spotlight from every other game in 2025. No Resident Evil, GTA, Witcher, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout this year so it's a easy 2025 win.

Agreed.

HL3 is like the gaming equivalent of the second coming of Jesus.

HL2 was revolutionary in 2004 with it's bleeding edge graphics and advanced physics system. Just the thought of what they're cooking up for HL3 makes me hard. Rock hard.

It will be the last hurrah for a lot of people that worked on 1 and 2. That some of them even went back to the offices for the hl2 anniversary doc is interesting. I wouldn't really be surprised if it's coming. The success of valve does not ride on half life whatsoever and at this point the "expectations" don't matter. Alyx is a master class in single player game design, and they absolutely have the chops to make an amazing game.

Reality check:
- Source 2 is an extremly outdated engine that is 1-2 decades behind the competiton. Even HL Alyx still didnt have level streaming, like wtf! UE3 & others had that in 2004!
- In order to make a HL3 that meets the crazy high expectations of modern players, they would either have to use a modern engine, or make a new one.
Using a competitor´s engine is unlikely and making a new one on the same level as Anvil, UE5, Frostbite etc, requires a very large amount of engine coders.
On top of that, you need another large team to develop a Triple A title with the new engine.
- Valve does not currently have the staff numbers or expertise to pull off anything like that, and we havent seen them going on some sudden hiring spree of experienced devs either.
- Half Life is an IP only old people like us care about. Releasing some AAA HL3 to a very limited audience without having remade HL1 and HL2 first will lead to disaster.

Conclusion:
If we ever see a HL3 - which I doubt - it will most likely be done in an upgraded Source 2 variant aka Alyx and not try to compete with anything that is on the market.
