I for one loved Hall and Oates when I was a little kid. And I agree with your statment 101%.

the one that was made in the 70s has robert fripp and phil collins in the band

It really isn't that hard to be better than the Darkness. It's like the Darkness is loved by everyone too young to remember hair metal.. What's old becomes new again...

My only gripe with Hall and Oates are really shitty lyrics. They made it work, but the lyrics are horrible. Maneater, lyrically, is probably the worst song I've heard in my almost 27 years. But yeah, at the time, I loved Hall and Oates. I can't deny that.

Hey, I hate pretentious BS music as much as the next guy (I certainly have less of a tolerance for it than many I've seen around the forum, anyhow) but The Darkness piss me off in a different way. I've just never been into the camp-rock stuff, lyrically or musically. If I'm going to listen to a band for comedy, it's got to be a comedy band, such as Tenacious D.

There are better fun, stupid bands. There are better rock revival bands. Better 80s revival bands.

The vocalist sounds like a bastard child of Freddy Mercury and Robert Smith, but without the talent or control of either of them. Every chance he gets, he throws himself into high octaves. This can be fine in moderation, but not for every other fucking verse.

The band itself is great. I like the music itself. The vocals ruin it for me.
