You don´t HAVE to download them if they cost 25$
I, for one, sure will though.
DLC owns, the best thing to happen to console games since the analogue stick

People just don't want to pay $30-40 for a HANDFUL of maps. Quit implying "teh bias" and get over it.SpokkX said:guess we will see in 5 years.. I bet sony AND nintendo will offer almost the exaxt same DLC service and charge for it.. will anyone complain then?

I think I'm going to get back into play UT2004 some more where I can get tons of user created maps for free.

Hella dudes ask,
What's up with the listing on Xbox.com in Korea that says the downloadable content is coming out as a retail game release??
Next week, were going to have a major announcement about the details of our new maps. Right now, there are some dates, details and ideas out there that are actually wrong, so please take everything you read between now and then with a grain of salt. We can't talk about how and when the new maps will be released, we'll leave that to the smart folks who actually do all the logistical work for this stuff marketing and PR, but we can tell you this much - our entire plan is designed to make new content available for everybody, those with Xbox Live and those without Xbox Live. We hope in the end, everyone will be satisfied.
Angelus said:Well, could be worse I suppose. I mean thank god we don't have companies charging us 20 dollars for 15 year old games on handhelds. I'm sure GAF would stay far away from that injustice too, right? LOL.
What Bungie may do is pretty much the same thing as any other company . Its a business. A hot property is there and they are there to rake in the cash with it,I mean Capcom,Nintendo, and EA do it all the time. Sometimes EA's games are barely upgraded and have new roster updates. Capcom takes RE4 to the PS2.,just look at ther MegaMan compilations and the injustice they did to the Cube basewith the control configurations. Its sucks but thats the way it is,don't buy the stuff. And for god sakes Nintendo does it with those Mario Party games every year on the Cube, and lordy look at how they milk their userbase for old classic games that are ported on the GBA. It everywhere really, buy what you like and realize that its about making money,if the product is good for your enjoyment then grab it,otherwise move on. Just look at the fans that are willing to buy EA games because Mario's been thrown within them. There are those who will buy them on the spot. Is it right or wrong? Who cares,if up to the individual and noone else should worry then.
Don't come around here bitching next gen, when you buy a $60 game with 2 or 3 levels, and then every month or two after the fact they ask you to pay an additional $20-30 for an extra level or a multiplayer map.
MarkMacD said:Wow, the amount of knee-jerk reactions (emphasis on 'jerk') in one thread...impressive even for GAF. The fact that people here are bitching about the idea of having to -pay for something- (or claiming it doesn't cost anything to develop new levels) is amazing. Maybe if the game didn't come with a fair amt of multiplayer levels in the first place, or if this directly contradicted a promise...
Does someone have the quote everyone is referencing but no one is pasting where Bungie said all DLC would always be free? Cause when I interviewed them right after the game came out, and they said specifically they hadn't decided.
There's only like 10 new maps in the game. It wasn't exactly brimming with content in the first place, which has made for a kind of excruciating wait....and a lot of tension built up.MarkMacD said:Maybe if the game didn't come with a fair amt of multiplayer levels in the first place, or if this directly contradicted a promise...

Mooreberg said:So how does that explain all the developers who release new maps, weapons, and play modes for free? Did Bungie forward all of their checks to Rare or something?
Considering the mountains of money they made out of the sales, it'd be nice if they could give something back, or at the very least maintain communication with the fans.

My only complaint would be with the reported cost per map. At $30-40 for the expansion you are looking at $3.75-5 per map. Even if I low ball it and assume that a mere 100,000 people buy the thing, that's 1/3 - 1/2 million dollars made on each map. I think we all know they don't cost that much to make. And at least 1-2 of the new maps will be Halo 1 remakes that they can almost effortlessly crank out. Either lower the price or raise the number of maps.
Where is $19.99 price? French site has it at 30 Euros (~$40 USD) and the Taiwan site doesn't have any price.KeithFranklin said:Funny how people like to keep boosting the price. For US gamers we have seen only one price and that is $19.99.

Save your money and buy Phantom Dust. I really hope Bungie doesn't get away with this. Anybody who actually gives them money needs their head checked.
