I'm faily certain he was talking about Halo 1 and 2 when he was comparing the AR and SMG starts. Since that was the conversation at the time.Stinkles said:Eh? How do you know?
Bad pics or not, if someone has to look at the HUD to know which version is which, they've obviously spent no time playing H2. Thus his opinion in moot.PnCIa said:Yeah they´re offscreen, they give you a general sense though.

(I know, I know, it's an ALPHA its a BETA its an ALPHABETA I seriously don't care. Unless they have a whole new set of textures, geometry and animation waiting in the wings, Halo 3 won't be the most graphically impressive X360 game of 2007. Shit, it won't even be the most graphically impressive FPS on X360 in 2007. Kind of troubling, imo, considering it's friggen HALO.)
I think it's more important to wait until we have direct screens from levels that Bungie feels are ready to show.op_ivy said:better, but what is with these comparisons using the dullest part of the new remade halo 3 level? none of the open areas with grass? none of the sea wall with ivy and cool lighting?

Yeah, I know. And I also think Ninja Theory needs to remove the beam in thine own eye before considering the mote in thine neighbors. But I agree with him that at a glance, H2 multi and H3 multi beta are very similar. I don't agree that you can't tell the difference, there is an obvious jump in quality, but the game doesn't look that hot. IMO, of course. Not a Jellyfish said:you need to note that it is a comment from a developer who is developing on the competition.
Not a Jellyfish said:i am sure bungie will do something.
I don't think Bungie is worried about negative feedback. This was a major leak, but they are launching a public beta in just a few weeks that around a million people have access to play. They've said the three maps in the beta will be the most polished so far, and that they'll release media on them between now and the beta. This will be a small blip on the march up to release. Not much difference if they wait one week or two when they're going to put a version of the actual game in our hands so soon. Not a Jellyfish said:i say we just wait till the weekly update. i am sure they will say or show something. you can only sit back and watch negative feedback on your product for so long. look at how fast bioware released other mass effect shots. i am sure bungie will do something.

Best possible outcome is that Bungie makes me eat my words and then some. I would love to see that happen. No joke. Bona fide Halo fanboy here, but also a fan of the real talk. Not a Jellyfish said:i understand but it is poor quality vid. i just think in the next three weeks lots of negative comments will be taken back because there are parts that look so much better and then parts that need work. i can't wait to see the maps we will actually get to play.

I suspect they are frustrated by the leak. But, they knew what the reaction would be when they showed the game in the Alpha state, and again when they released the last couple of vidocs. If they are really are confident in their game, there's not cause to be upset over teh rage on the internets, the most reasoned place on earth. Not a Jellyfish said:well not really worried but a little upset. i mean when put so much into a project and it is getting raped on the net then yeah it has to be a little discouraging. at least it is not getting talked about as bad as too human did months back.
Not a Jellyfish said:you need to note that it is a comment from a developer who is developing on the competition.
Rule #1 when evaluating comments is to consider the source. That goes for me, Bungie, the competition or anyone. Pot shots from the competition should be dismissed based on source alone, not to mention the (lack of) merit of his comments.CAPCOWNED said:Because he can't look at the picture himself and make up his own mind...

That's a CG ad. The bar the campaign will be held to is the announcemnt trailer, which is the actual engine running in realtime.michaeld said:I don't know if it was a tv ad(don't watch tv), but it is on the XBL Marketplace. It shows the kids talking at the beginning.

At least the levels will be in an much more advanced state since this one wasn´t made for public viewing.michaeld said:So it's safe to assume the beta we will get is a different build than tis one that was leaked?

I think it's probably safe to say that. Frankie said in a recent update that the three maps we are getting are the most polished and complete from a graphics standpoint - and that the one's we are NOT getting are simply not done yet. That would include the map in the video. Here's the quote:michaeld said:So it's safe to assume the beta we will get is a different build than tis one that was leaked? Frankie said:The reasons youre getting three maps is similar, but has as much to do with our normal production schedule as anything else. Its easier to think of why youre not getting the rest of the maps. Theyre not done yet. All are geometry complete, but theyre being polished and tuned for graphics and gameplay til the last minute. You could say that the maps youre playing are the best balanced and most complete so far.
And then there's this. Not a Jellyfish said:Here's what KP over at Bungie had to say:
Quote:
I shouldn't really comment on this stuff at all but it's bothering me. The game looks nothing like Halo 2. Some objects are the same in that they're the same shape and colors, but everything is so much more detailed. You can't see that because the video is a lo-res, poorly compressed leak of an unfinished product. Something never intended for public consumption, a part of a test that has nothing to do with graphics so the build isn't made to look as good as it could. If Bungie were showing you a video they would have released something in hidef showcasing only the things that're actually finished. You should not be judging the state of the game based off of this. You cannot compare a video that Bungie created for you versus a video which Bungie never intended for you to see.
