Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn - Part 4 [Available To Watch]

Really neat series

I'm not fully into the lore of the halo universe so it was fun seeing the spartans and cadets and such.

How old is Chief in this series? Relatively young? I assume the Spartan program is still in its infancy during this if they were still top secret?

He'd be about 15 years old I think.

Wow that was awesome!! I want more!
For someone that doesn't follow the Halo story much what was up with that question about age? Don't bother if it's too much to explain.

Love that it shows that yeah, the Spartans at that time, are about the same age as the Cadets!

Showed more of the Hunters than I thought. Strangely, was only a couple months ago when I found out that they were a collection/hive of those worm things, put into a suit. So, nice to show a bit of that, too.

More people survived than I thought. Really thought it was just going to be Lasky and Hamish Beamish to make it off the planet.

The spartans are kids basically. I think that's going to be a subplot in Halo 4 UNSC dealing with child soilders.

Yeah, Chief would look exactly the same age as Kelly and Fred (did they say it was Fred?). All of the Spartan II's were taken at the age of 6, all about the same time, if I recall correctly.

Made myself a version with all 5 parts cut together and the machinima stuff edited out, gonna watch tonight :) 1 hours 20 minutes

Wow, what a great surprise. I honestly did not have high hopes for this series but that was really great.

Loved the ending.

Good job 343.

Aside from a few inconsistencies, mainly the "Call me Master Chief" and use of distinct MJOLNIR Mark-IV armor(I suspect this was done to keep it clear about who is who for the uninitiated, so really not a big deal), this series was absolutely fantastic. Let the haters hate, I challenge anyone to offer something better.

Bravo 343i, bravo.

Anyone care to explain the significance of the black rock that Chief gives to Lasky?

I think that was a remnant of the blast that killed the hunter? Serves as reminder of that night for him. I like the fact that after all these years, it is him who gets to find and bring Chief back home

That was a fantastic ending. I definitely did not enjoy Episodes 1 and 2 of the series but 3-5 were pretty damn awesome. I had the biggest grin on my face watching Chief take down the Hunter. And damn, Kelly and Fred have some crazy eyes O_o, guessing that was to show the retinal enhancements all the SPARTANs had.

Chunk of the Hunter's armor that Lasky distracted.

There is not much to explain I think. MC defeated the hunter with Lasky's greneade and that's a shrapnel from it, it's significant because he shows respect to Lasky in the chopper.

10 of 10 doritos and Mount drew! :)

Amazing!

And the idea of a Band of Brothers(ODST) is outstanding!

Come on 343, this has to be true...BELIVE!

Damn that was good, a great end to a great series. Probably some of the best marketing yet for a game. Hopefully it inspires a legitimate series or movie at some point, because if this is what they can do with $10 million, I'd love to see something at full budget.

Same, the musical additions to this were a nice touch.

Exactly how I feel man. I just finished watching the last episode and it was really amazing. It started a little slow in Eps. 1, but damn all together it was great. Does anyone know when we get this as part of our Collectors Edition is it seperate downloads for each episode or are they putting them together as one seemless mini-movie?

I really love how they captured the Chief though, especially at the end when he is in the Pelican, being the one Spartan on constant watch, even though they were high above the ground in the Pelican. That was touching and summerized the Chief. Was already hyped for the game, but damn this is pushing me over the edge.

What? Really? Awesome!

That was seriously awesome, damn it had a good payoff. My only major gripe this episode is that it could have been longer, and the other Spartans could have gotten more screen time to at least see their armor better.

So good.

I have quite a few nitpicks throughout most of the episodes but overall it was definitely a great series.

Band of Brothers-esque mini series following a group of ODSTs, please.

I second this.

We tried it with Steve Downes voice, but it completely breaks the ending. It makes it seem like he's their dad. I am not kidding. That's how the scene looks if you play it with Downes' voice. One of the cool things about his tonality for the Chief role is that it feels weighted down with decades of experience.

Tbh, I don't even mind his new younger voice, I think it sounded fitting once I got used to it. I think the cheesey lines were the tough part, but this episode was much more digestible when it came to that.

I think it was shrapnel for the Hunters armor not the grenade itself. Or at least that is what I think it was because of the size of it and the texture on it. That was also a very interesting story part and you are right, it shows the Chief showing respect for what Lasky did.

Yeah that's what I meant, sorry for the grammar, my english is not the best.
I also have to say that the actor who played Lasky was really good in this episode.

Mild spoilers about the look of the armor:

So, Kelly's helmet appears to be an up-armored Air Assault helmet (the AA helmet was used by Kat in Halo Reach and was made for the live action commercial). I wonder if the look of her helmet is canon now, or if it was a budget limitation only. Obviously they retooled the helmet for budget purposes, but since we haven't seen here before Im curious if its her official look.

One way or another, I do like the helmet, but it looks weird as hell from the side:

And Fred is flat out wearing the helmet Noble 6 wears, so once again I wonder if that is canon.
I didn't think it was possible, but Cortana looks goddamn beautiful in Forward Unto Dawn. Even better than her Halo 4 counterpart.
I agree, though her FUD version appears to just be an upresed game asset.

Everyone is being blinded by the last 40% of this episode and is seeming to forget about the absolute shit dialog contained in the first 60%.

From the second Hunter onward was so damned good, but the first half... dear god. Made "Call me Master Chief" seem like a good line.

Yeah the different helmets for Fred and Kelly confused me. From Fall of Reach it sounded like they were all identical armor suits they got.

Didn't notice anything wrong with the dialogue. The Chief line in the earlier episode was a bit cheesy, but nothing this episode was. Only thing I noticed was the shot of the pelican flying away looked off CG-wise.

Series exceeded my expectations completely though. I wasn't even thinking of buying this on BluRay before watching them all, now I'll grab it day 1.
