Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn - Part 4 [Available To Watch]

Only other notable issue I have atm is that Kelly is a ton shorter than MC.. weird they didn't try to cheat her up to his size a bit. On the flip side, I really like the way Fred and Kelly looked and acted out of the helmet.

I guarantee that statue being unveiled today will be MC vs the Hunter.. Im going to need to buy it I think.

Eh, the first few episodes were fine dialogue wise IMO, it was only MC in the last episode that was super cheesy and cliche.

Although I suppose they would have different armor then, so maybe it would all be the same at that time.

Watching it again, I guess you're right. I think it's the voice. I know Frank explained why they didn't use Downes, and I agree 100% he would not have worked.... but why this voice? It sounds like someone TRYING desperately to be Downes, and coming off as a gruff, cheezy action hero. I guess that's why the lines come off badly to me. Although... this one....

"Controlled bursts! Don't spray and pray!"

That one was bad.

I guess if the voice sounded less forced, and 10 years younger, it'd be fine.
 
Um, can someone spoiler all those shots? Or at least the giant spoiler one?

And the shrapnel is a shard of the Hunter's shield.
 
Ok yeah, this was the greatest thing ever. Standing ovation for 343 and everyone involved.

That FUD episode was just... terrible.

I'm shocked.

Worse than any of the previous ones.
The great acting that we saw earlier? Gone.
The great scripting? Gone.
Plus,
Chyler's death was so poorly staged. When did she get hit? With what? We're not shown. The area of her body that took the hit wasn't even exposed. She was a much better character than say, JJ, and she got a horribly cheesy death.
Just bad.
 
Apologies with the pictures, since the gifs had been posted I didn't think much of it. Also, I guess I was thinking about tv episode threads, and how pics and gifs usually are fair game after the episode happens.. I suppose since this isn't a live thing and people watch it their leisure online it shouldn't work that way. Sorry again guys!

Frankie, can you talk about the Spartan armor and how it fits in with the canon?
 
Finally watched the final episode and it actually ended great. Huge kudos to 343i and everyone else involved, you guys should be proud of this series.

Also I second a BoB series with ODST and it should star Buck. ;p

IIRC Frankie said other than Cortana and Chief, all the mocap actors were also the voice actors in Halo 4. Would have been cool if the FUD Lasky was also the same actor the game.

Now that would be awesome, only if played by Nathan Fillion of course. While at it, have Tricia Helfer play Dare for such series, since Buck notes in ODST they have history.
 
Watched it. I was a bit disappointed at the hunter effects but the rest of the episode was great. Whoever thought to shoot the first bit like a horror film was brilliant.

And Jesus Christ at that ending. That is how you freaking hype your game. I've been disappointed in the quality of the trailers released so far but FUD makes it all up. And more. There needs to be a second season.

Also, how everything ties up, with Lasky now goin to rescue the chief was just fantastic. Congrats to 343, the actors and everyone involved in production.

Why not? Action, sort-of horror feel, great CGI.
Too much slow mo for sure though. Oh and that spoilery thing you noted, i kinda agree there. But otherwise, good.

No, actually, I don't see what was in there that anyone could enjoy.
Before you even think it, I'm not being closeminded, I'm not saying people aren't allowed to enjoy it, I'm just honestly baffled as to why.
It was a horrible episode and on a different planet from the rest of FUD as far as quality.
 
Is the track near the end (where the group is running towards te pelican/on it) on the ost or is the FUD music going to be sold seperate. Or at all?

They did. I thought they might screw it up and under the helmet would be David Lynchs version of the Cookie monster but no, the Spartans were handled good.

I was worried the ending would be unsatisfying and not really wrap things up well.

I thought it wrapped this up rather well and did a good job leading up to the events in the game.

Keep in mind I have my expectations to a realistic level for a web series I'm not even paying for.
 
So Part 4 came out last week, are we getting a Part 5 today or is that what's coming with the game or am I confused :\ ?
 
Watched all 5 parts in a whole again (in my edited version, without the machinima parts). Great pace overall as a combined "movie".

That's kinda the point they look off, I would be disappointed if they would look like normal humans.
 
The cut from young Lasky to current Lasky with the "Shall I play it again sir?" is pretty abrupt.

Wasn't there supposed to be the Forward Unto Dawn's distress call here? Feels really weird without it.

Edit: Got it, went back to the first episode and see that the original distress call got plenty of time. Seeing the episodes stretched out over weeks diminishes the overall effect. People who have waited for all the episodes to come out before watching them all in one sitting will get it.

I thought this episode was great. Poland, you're attacking it so hard lol. Chill bro.

Highlights for me:
-More Warthog action
-Hunters
-Fuel rod shots
-The shot of Chief looking up at the first hunter
-Chief killing the 2nd hunter
-The music! Oh god so good.
-"AXIOS!!"

Fantastic episode.

Kelly and Fred's faces looked fantastic, they nailed that so hard. Just an all around really weird choice to have them wearing that armor though... I understand the use of the Halo 4 Elite and Jackal models just for convenience's sake, but they actually had to try and break the fiction by making that armor. But I guess this is them retconning Spartan armor to have always been highly variable and customizeable? I can accept that.

The Hunters were fucking amazing. I was just wondering today whether we would see John running up their shield to get to their back in the game, and then they had it in FUD. Really hope we get to do that at some point, even if it's just a stupid QTE.

Chyler's death actually shook me, which is pretty rare. Guy who plays Lasky was great, too, totally sold it.

Really can't wait till I can buy this on Bluray. We need more stuff as good as this and less garbage like Legends.
 
That was excellent. I thought the first episode was ok at best but this turned out very well. I like the look of the Spartan 2's under their helmet at the end.
 
Question about the ending: Doesn't Lasky have an allergic reaction to one of the drugs used in Cryo sleep? Wasn't it life threatening? Does he just that that risk?

The lighting really really helped, and it also helped that he didn't try to act like an action hero as much.

it popped in my mind to look back at the film that the other guy cadet found, the classified footage of the Spartans. That quickview they see of a Spartan, is Fred. #104.

Which fits in with the 2 sides of the pelican at the end. Like odd mirror images of each other. Fred and the Footage Cadet, the 2 females, and the 2 leads.

Is the footage cadet Sully?

Adult Lasky had scars on his chest right before he gets in the Cryo chamber.
