Lifetime sales of Xbox Game Studios and 343 Industries' first-person shooters, Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, reached nearly 10 million units each worldwide.

According to the LinkedIn profile of Chris Haluke (via bogorad222), former Head of Design at 343 Industries, the lifetime sales of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians reached nearly 10 million units each worldwide. He was involved in driving large-scale development of both AAA Halo titles, managing a multidisciplinary team of over 150 people from pre-production through launch.

I don't trust sales numbers coming from Xbox or former first party devs. They like to twist sales numbers

H3 still King in gameplay and sales
Those games were from a time when Microsoft Corporation published video games still sold well.

That's great and all but that isn't important. What's important is the mount of sales Infinite has gotten, you know, the game made for gamepass from the ground up, and also a game that was made by a developer with a fully ruined reputation. That is a a number i'd like to know, but it's hidden because if MS gave it to us, everyone will see how irrelevant their flagship IP has become over the years.

But who cares, virtue signaling on twitter is way more important for this dev, anyways.

Gaming grow a lot on the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Idk if they are accurate but they must sold a lot. Now, I was on day of Halo 4, we stopped playing like a week after launch. Game was ass,ñ. And Guardians? I think is was a community effort of trying to like something about Halo, but it was ass too.

There should be studied how Microsoft managed to pick the most incompetent people in the industry to have one of the most iconic franchises in gaming, so they could burn it down until it just become a joke.

This is from vgchartz for Halo 4
is it true?

VGChartz worldwide numbers are just (Xbox) fan guesses, almost always biased in a pro-Xbox and anti-PS way and almost never are pretty close to the oficial numbers when publicly released.

Once oficial data gets released they sometimes backpedal. Sometimes don't.

Halo 4 and 5 is to Halo what Genesis and Dark Fate is to Terminator. RIP my favorite sci-fi franchises.
I agree 100%. Halo 4 was the worst of them all (I didn't think 5 was nearly as bad as popular "opinions") but yes, after bungie 343i got caught up in government forced DEI, hiring people to fill quotas to avoid the woke/cancel machine, and the product suffered. I can't wait to get back to a merit based society where everyone doesn't get a trophy, you have to earn it.

You know Infinite MP was completely F2P right? Was not built for gamepass.

What's your point? Its multiplayer is an mtx shithole (especially on launch). Of course it's f2p, otherwise they'd be 13 people on the servers three months in. The quality of the product is exactly what i expect GP fodder to be.

Wait how was it an mtx shithole? If memory serves, H5 was way worse than infinite for mtx. Infinite was purely skins. Which is about as inoffensive as things get in this day and age.

The majority of those sales were coasting off the brand, and with 5 hoping they'd bring the brand back.

They sucked, they still suck, and 343/Halo Studios should've been laid off before any other dev studios at Microsoft.

As much as I think 343 doesn't understand Halo on a deeply fundamental level and they manage to kill one of the greatest game ever...BRING HALO 5
TO PC YOU STUPID IDIOTS.

So I can play it again and cry about the time I was young and Halo was cool xD

One of the most "bad-ass" scenes in any Halo game to date:

That's so fucking dumb. Story and lore totally shit the bed after Reach.

And it's infuriating thinking how many good stories actually are in the books.

They don't understand shit about Halo at MS. And Bungie is fucked too, just look at the mess Destiny is.

EDIT: sorry for double post.

And people said that Xbox doesn't sell games.

Errrrr.... Halo 4 and 5 launched on previous gens consoles... long before GamePass was a thing that started conditioning Xbox gamers to stop buying games.

If anything, this report is even more damning to the current situation at Xbox. If these two offensively mediocre games could still do 10m units during previous gens, it shows just how much of a deleterious impact GamePass has had on Xbox full game sales.

Just a reminder: Halo 3's first day generated 170M $, shattering all previous records for the entire entertainment industry.

3.3M copies first week. 8M worldwide in the first year.

That's what Halo was. 343 needed two games and a decade to get there.

And they still couldn't get it right

Yep.

It definitely feels like a copy and not the original. I've yet to fully play Infinite, I just can't get myself to do it. I hear good things about the gameplay there.

But campaign-wise, what 343 doesn't get, is that Halo is a sandbox disguised as a linear shooter. At least that's where Bungie brought the series with 3, Reach and ODST (and even before with stages like Silent Cartographer).

There's nothing like the scarab fight of 3, or Tsavo Highway, or The Covenant, in recent Halos (and if there is in Infinite, tell me xD).

Halo is literally a fire and forget title, even after I finished the campaign in Infinite, I felt little need to go back and take out all of the remaining enemy camps on the map....there is no reason to go back to it...and then there is the Atriox issue, which I won't delve into to veer away from spoilers.. :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Halo 5 MP was amazing. Won't hear any different.

Halo Infinite had what seemed to be decent MP, but never recovered from a poor start with limited modes and maps. I fell off it really quick as a result, and just haven't went back.
