Halo 4 |OT| Spartans Never Die

Here's how I'd fix the boltshot: give it variable levels of charge, rather than either single bullet or full shotgun blast. Depending on how long you charged it for, it's use more bullets and do more damage. The one-shot kill we have now would use a full clip, and need to be charged for .2 seconds longer than it does now. Also fix the reload glitch.

Not being able to switch weapons while charging would help alleviate issues somewhat. Being locked into the alternate firing mode would hopefully dissuade the Boltshot from being abused as much as it currently is.

Of course, people had similar fixes for the Spartan Laser since Halo 3, and that was never changed, so I doubt we'll see anything come of it.

Yeah, this too. Also, maybe instead of a random spread, make each bullet fired in shotgun mode placed in a specific location so the blast's killing range isn't so inconsistent?

+1 I don't mind ordnance drops, but the amount of times I've been killed 6 times in a row by 6 different power weapons is ridiculous and makes the player feel really helpless.

Daily XP caps are even worse...
Without daily caps there would be droves of max rank people already. You can feasibly reach max rank in less than 100 hours of playtime. ~75 with all 200 double-XP codes used.

I'm 65 and I feel like I've barely been playing.

Why does it matter that there are max rank people? It makes double xp useless.

I was just trying to explain what I presume is 343's reasoning. It's the only reason that there would be a cap in the first place, right? I don't care either way, I usually don't play enough to hit it, but I'm sure it's aggravating for those who run into it frequently.

Haha complain about the jetpacks.

What's the problem with jetpacks? I was never able to use them in Reach/Halo 4 to any effect, and it seems to me that only makes you a big, juicy target in the middle of the sky. Maybe is because I mainly play BTB, but it doesn't look that gives its users any advantage. In fact, I rejoyce when I see a poor bastard skyrocketing, in such a fixed, predictable trajectory.

Not trying to be a dick, but can you elaborate on what makes Killzone a good shooter? Playing it I just felt like I was in a world of mud shooting specially marked exploding barrels, but I also didn't get that far into it.

Question: With regards to Halo 4 campaign related movies that get unlocked at Waypoint (not classified), do they naturally pop up after completing each chapter in the game or do I need to find and access data nodes that dispense with an unlocked at waypoint message?

Comment: On the third chapter now and like it quite a bit.

Likes:
  • Graphics are stunning including phenomal lighting and an unique and captivating design of promethean structure, save a few ugly textures here and there (made prominent by the fact that rest of the game is so stunning).
  • Weapon sounds are truly fantastic, especially for the previously seen weapons. Somehow they not only sound more authentic but the sounds adds this illusionary oomph. Besides graphics it's the most noticeable difference for the better.
  • Liking the story so far. Will be interesting to see how it develops.

Dislikes:
  • I'm in just the third chapter but not really digging the new enemies. I am beginning to realize that one of the big reasons why I never tired very much of other Halo games despite only having 3 or 4 distinct variety of foes was that they were always mixed up from time to time in numbers or team mix. Let's see if things improve.
  • Suspension of disbelief goes out of the window the moment MC just picks up a promethean weapon and knows not only how to operate but also reload ammo. I wish there was a moment were Cortana would have interjected about how a promethean weapon is supposed to be reloaded after she had scanned its properties and put her massive intellect to use briefly to figure everything out.
  • Promethean weapons feel like reskinned version existing weapons instead of feeling unique like the Covenant weapons do. And apparently, Promethians' weapon stash is very similar to human's and covenants.... For a type 3 civilization the small arms feel inappropriately primitive

Boltshot is my Sawed Off/Armor Lock of Halo 4. I can't believe some of you are trying to justify it.

Ellis himself said a power weapon is anything that can kill in one shot. So you technically spawn with a power weapon.

It has a larger range than a scattershot. Not sure about its range vs the shotgun, but its close. It's charge time is incredibly short. Reloads quick. Add Dexterity and daaaamn. It beats scatters, swords, shotguns, hammers very easy.

My top 5 weapons in Halo 4 according to my stats are

DMR
BR
Sniper
BOLTSHOT
Melee

I have 85 kills with it. 28 deaths.

Believe me, it has saved my life and the game numerous times. But its TOO powerful. I'd be fine with completley axxing it in loadouts and moving it to ordnance if it was possible. I put it on the same level of effectiveness as a needler.

If they want to keep it the only fix I'd be ok with is if they removed its one shot kill to full shields power, and made it strip shields instead. I mean, comparing it to Halo 3, you're basically spawning with a headshot capable mauler in this fix, but its better than a headshot capable shotgun. It'd be like a plasma pistol in CQC effectiveness.

the boltshot just needs its range reduced. No drastic changes are needed to any of the weapons. I also think the DMR should be a 6 shot kill when zoomed...this would make some big team maps more playable.

I also keep hearing complaints about how if you're not host, you can't win. There is no way to tell if you're host. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I also keep hearing complaints about how if you're not host, you can't win. There is no way to tell if you're host. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I played 6 hours once, but it was all double exp and so I hit the cap.
 
They should remove the cap so we can know who the poopsockers are.

I agree that there should be no cap but for those of us who are honest gamers not using double XP, the cap has never been an issue.

Not saying double XP is dishonest when you legitimately purchase the products but other methods are dumb.

No double XP, hitting daily cap. Fuck that. As with Reach, it kills my will to play the game. Along with bugs and some idiotic things like Vortex in BTB Slayer...

I'm not clear on why there is still a daily cap, since it's now possible and people HAVE hit the SR-130 cap. I can understand to some extent that they would want to try and spot and potential abuse early on; but now that people have legitimately hit the cap 3 weeks in, that seems kind of pointless. I never hit the cap personally, but I had double XP for a couple of days and I know with that I probably came pretty close.

If you're not playing online through a gold account, you won't be able to play Spartan Ops. If you are, it's under the Infinity submenu as previously mentioned.

you need to install the second disc content if you haven't (i think)

Oh there definitely is. The game plays so much smoother as host. Once you start noticing it's a HUGE difference. As the game is crowded with people from the US, it makes a huge difference when I have host (EU).

Can't you read? I said smoother. No, you probably won't notice it if you running towards a person with an assault rifle with only people from the US. However, if you are playing with the DMR with a EU host (yourself) against people from the US it's extremely obvious. Bullets register so much easier, especially headshots.

It is a okay Dominion map. BTB Slayer? Fuck it. Everyone is inside the middle building, no proper vehicle use. Bad routes for vehicles too.
Exile, Ragnarok are good, Longbow is okay, 8v8 in Meltdown is too much and Vortex just plain sucks for BTB.
And i play BTB Slayer and Dominion pretty much exclusively. Occasionally CTF and Oddball and Flood.
 
You can take pictures of Doritos bags for the the Double XP code because they were printed on the outside. Don't even have to buy them.

I'm pretty sure they terminate your double xp if they find out you've been taking codes you didn't pay for. Afterwards, you won't be able to get double xp even if you paid for it.

Fair enough, I am in NA so I never notice a significant difference between games so there's no real way for me to tell who is host. I think we can both agree that this is a type of game that needs dedicated servers, but that is just a pipe dream for Halo.

You get unlimited range that turns classic maps like Valhalla or Blood Gulch into cross map DMR battles. This is why I like spread and the BR, but you are screwed if you try to use it on a large map. I also like bullet travel since I believe it takes more skill to use by far.

Only thing I hate about hitscan is that it only applies to human weapons. I understand the point in campaign, but Covenant weapons should be hitscan to in a multiplayer environment otherwise they're always going to be subpar. One set of guns should not defy physics while the others are bound to them.
