Halo 5 Forge for Windows 10 will have full custom game support

It's a gross over-simplification of what's involved, but "You can't just flip a switch" isn't remembered for being an axiomatic bon mot for technical difficulties; its remembered as being a fucking lie.
Only by people who have no fucking clue what's involved in software development.

I suspect a year old port of Halo 5 at full new game MSRP available exclusively via the Windows 10 Store would in fact be treated with contempt by many PC gamers.
I suspect any Halo game at any price would be treated with universal acorn from the PC gaming community if it's exclusive to the w10.

Has me worried about Halo wars 2 tbh.

If you're a thinking human adult you should probably be able to understand that behind the scenes a LOT of work had to be done to undo the technical implementations of their pre-launch policies.

The flipping the switch comment is only funny because of the laughable timing of the announcement compared to the comments from Major Nelson.

Or... do you actually believe someone flipped a switch?

Just drag and drop into the UWP folder.

Really excited for this. Hoping you don't need a powerful PC to be able to forge. Forging on the go with your Surface! Make it happen, Frankie!

Considering this was made for XBone users, I'd assume your profile would transfer over as would your MP spartan. If you only had the forge component it'd probably be default.

I'm placing bets that it's just Fotus. If you load up Forge and go into the settings and play the intro/outro cams the only models that show up are Fotus. Also if you look at the player's shadow it's Fotus, not whatever they are wearing.

If it's anything like previous Halo games, all of the armor permutations are contained in the one model file. The UI just exposes the toggle for which permutation is loaded for a specific profile. Since all of that is synced on Waypoint and stuff, I would imagine it would probably load the armor tied to your existing account.

I would imagine it would be more work than it's worth to build a specific biped with only one permutation than to just use the existing compiled assets that they use on the Xbox One build of the engine.

Just to be clear, if you don't care about Forge, you can still fully play TDM and CTF custom games like you would on console, just not matchmaking with randomers? So they are essentially bringing real Halo multiplayer to PC, just not match-making?

3. It's not "full Halo 5" because that would wreck production schedules and be a year too late and the game (Halo 5) wasn't originally built or designed for both platforms in the first place.

You and I both know that's not true. If you released Halo 5 on PC two years after the XBox One release, it'd still sell remarkably well.

Same stands for Master Chief Collection, btw. We're all ready to dip. Some of us a second or third time.

it will exist so you pc loving fucks can play on beautiful forge maps like this

4. Halo Wars 2 was built from the ground up for PC and console and, without committing to anything else in this thread, is a better example of what to expect from 343 and PC support in the future.

Halo 6 simultaneous launch on Xbone & PC confirmed

Quick someone gaf this

Correct. But you essentially have to have an Xbox Live subscription for it to matter since you have to have a friends list to invite people from. Unless you and your friends were all really into Game for Windows Live.

Or you can orchestrate a meetup through GAF or something.

You don't need a sub to add friends, where are you getting this from?

I think Forge is awesome, but the console controls were always tedious for me. I'll mess around with it for sure on my PC though.

Keep up the amazing support 343i.

Sorry totally misunderstood that lol.

Someone will probably make a LFG site for this though so that'll help part of the problem

Yeah I'm just saying those most likely to already have a friends list are Live subscribers, unless you built one up through Game for Windows Live titles.

It's not hard to add friends and get a game going, but it's not as straight forward as some might think.
