Finally got my network sorted out. Comcast's wonderful service was delivering me a quality 33% packet loss rate (seriously), which is what was resulting in me being kicked constantly. Got that sorted out (and because they're sneaky bastards who don't notify you of cheaper-but-better plans until you ask about them, $50 off our service package), so now I'm able to play Halo 5 again.
First match was Slayer. Did fine against the enemy team, but I got paired up with the no-thumbs brigade, so the average enemy team stomped my teammates and won with a sound "my whole team ragequit while the score was 12-30". First time in a long time that I actually left a match. I hate having to do that, but when three teammates leave, what choice do I have? Not a fan of being penalized for that, either.
Second match was Assault. Much more fun. Would've won much sooner had an idiot teammate not deliberately TK'd me while I was a half-second from arming the bomb, but I digress.
It's good to be back.

They replaced the modem, among other things. Apparently the firmware on their end was updated, and they never notified us that we were in need of an upgrade... for months. It wasn't until I asked them what the hell they did that we got a clear answer.

You guys already know this but rally hog race is really broken in action sack. I hope this gametype is either fixed eventually or removed from action sack because it's impossible to complete this gametype at this point in action sack.
The framerate dropped to a ridiculous low level while I was racing on the track and while I was trying to cross the finish line using one of the cliffs the game froze and I got kicked out of the match and a request to join time out error popped up on my screen. I knew that it was very likely that I would experience something like this when I played the gametype earlier.

If you know how to log into your modem from a browser you can resolve 90% of Comcast related issues. Even out of date firmware and their 'reset signals' they send to your modem can be resolved on your end by logging in, navigating to the advanced settings, and performing a reset on the modem. You can check for firmware updates as well. Just an FYI for the future.

Thanks for the thoughts, squad. The good news is that the swelling has gone down substantially and that I have full mobility in everything but my pinky and ring fingers. The bad news is that the tendons in those two fingers are incredibly tender and he advised me to not do anything too forceful with them for about 2-3 weeks or until I can make a fist without it hurting. I'll probably give it a few days and then see how it feels using a controller.

Framerates well under 30fps are not enjoyable to experience. I knew I would have to deal with people stacking warthogs right besides the finish line when the game decided to put in a rally hog match yesterday.Looks fun.

The entire Halo Wars 2 soundtrack is up! The snippets already sound more like Halo (Marty) than Halo 4 and 5 music ever did. The percussion and really subtle references to past Halo themes really do it for me here.
The composers mentioning leitmotifs in the interview makes me hopeful for the soundtrack in its entirety (I'm not listening it in its entirety yet). The music in Halo 4 and 5 (IMO) was so bland and forgettable to the point where only the remixes from previous games stood out and even those were uninteresting and out of place.
Excuse me, I can be as passionate about Halo's music as some people can get over its multiplayer.

Also, it's kind of weird to compare it to O'Donnell and Salvatori's work, because there's not a heavy amount that is actually stylistically similar, especially among the original trilogy (I can see the argument that there's some greater resemblance with the use of horns from Reach, for example.) Haab and Finishing Move's style is much closer to the blockbuster Hans Zimmer/Remote Control sound. The end of "Barren" is a pretty sterling example of this, as are the Inception-style BWAAAAAs used at the beginning of "Amethyst".

Although not as good as Marty and Michaels music, i do get what he is saying. This "sounds" more like Halo than what 343 have done for 4 or 5.
That being said, it feels to me like Rogue Ones music as compared to John Williams starwars music in the main films. Its ok.

Although I stand by my opinion, I do admit that a part of it is fueled by extreme nostalgia which doesn't let me appreciate the music of the past two Halo's completely.
It's funny that you bring up ''Barren'' though, I find that it actually takes some cues from Earth City from the Halo 2 soundtrack. Some motifs in the other tracks here and there could have been composed by Marty and Mike but you're right in that it is often not too similar to the older Halo discography but it's enough to sway a nostalgic nut like me.

5 really only had a couple of tracks I liked. They misused Trials in the game. 4 had a few great tracks in To Galaxy, Awakening and 117.

best music is when the grunts were chanting in that room of worship.
More broadly, there hasn't been a single Halo soundtrack that's bad. A lot of stuff in Halo 4 I felt was mixed badly but really came around on in relistening to the soundtrack. Even the "B game" music for Spartan Strike and the like by Salta are excellent, Legends and The Fall of Reach were great as well.

I disagree here - I think both OSTs had standout tracks and themes. Halo 4 had To Galaxy, Awakening, Revival and Halo 5 had Osiris Suite (Acts 1 and 3 babyyy), Ascension, Light is Green.
I will say though, there are tracks here that remind me of John Williams music, primarily because Gordy loves using brass, something Halo music hasn't really had before. No wonder why he did the Star Wars Battlefront soundtrack
