Halo:CE Anniversary Announced (MS Conf, Nov 15th 2011, $40)

beaver creek/damnation/hang em high + more in reach is enough to make me =)

and sounds like there is new easter eggs in CE. frankie confirmed new terminals.

As someone who still enjoys Reach, I'm happy about MS/343's decision not to fragment the base. I welcome the new maps and hope it's not more than $15

Can't believe so many people actually thought MS would release a Halo game so soon after Reach with its own MP, I called this as soon as Reach was announced.

Oh, and fix the fucking visor please.

Yea, its totally shocking that people were expecting to be able to play the original multiplayer in a recreation of the original game. Completely shocking.

What is the resolution? More mickey mouse 6XXp? Or real HD?

1152x720, just like Reach. By the way, not calling that HD or downplaying the game's graphics for that tiny pixel deficit is some serious bullshit.

Will they do anything about the indoor levels? Those were so repetitive.

No, it's still the same game. They've only touched the graphics and, maybe, the sound.

Absolutely THRILLED that the Halo CE remake is not getting it's own multiplayer.

The Halo sandbox has evolved and expanded since Halo was released 10 years ago. I have no interest in returning to a stripped-down, basic Halo experience.

I would rather get new Reach content and play in that sandbox, and replay the Halo CE campaign for nostalgia.
I agree with you. This is exactly what I wanted and they should have done. GG

Aight, since the map-pack is the only thing I'm looking forward to, might as well post my wishlist.

1. Death Island (PC)
2. Sidewinder
3. Danger Canyon (PC)
4. Ice Fields (PC)
5. Gephyrophobia (PC)
6. Boarding Action
7. Hang 'Em High

They were alien, seemingly never-ending, and incredibly interconnected to the outside environments. The lack of this sensation is why the Halo 2 and Halo 3 campaigns lack any sense of longevity for me. I can play Halo: CE once a month from now til the end of days and be happy. It has a sense of place that most modern games lack. Gosh dang, Halo CE is a campaign that stands above the rest and will likely never be matched. :(

I think we can safely rule out the PC maps.

I also don't like the Master Chief model.. AT ALL.

They better make some changes.. It's pretty terrible as is.

Here's mine, in no particular order:

Damnation
Sidewinder
Prisoner
Hang 'em High
Chill Out
Boarding Action
Wizard

I love Blood Gulch and Battle Creek, but I've played them so many times in the previous games; the above maps would be a welcome refreshment.

HiH is in, but I really doubt any of the others are in, especially everyone of the PC maps.

Alright I'll stop posting that pic, but I just don't get it. Is this one going to try to compete with the strides other FPS are making in this genre or is it just going to be microsoft squeezing another dollar.

I just dont get it. Bioshock added huge amounts of level interactiveness, Call of duty added tons to multiplayer and story, and halo gets hyped just for repeating itself.

If it's adding a lot to the series fine, but thats why I got beef with these Halo announcements. I'm not a fan of phoning it in. Here's hoping they are planning on putting the series back on top with gameplay in these otherwise what was the point.

Some parts are repetitive as they get, though. I would have welcomed a change in that regard, but changing anything but the graphics in a game as nostalgia-driven as Halo CE is a recipe for disaster.

Then why post in a Halo thread?

I think some levels like the Library get a bad rap due to the flood and the repetition. You keep going and going and going, but when you get to the end, it feels so darn rewarding. I do agree that there needs to be a balance, but I'm tired of games trucking me off to one location after the other while losing that sense of interconnectedness. Forerunner architecture is repetitive by design, with structures jutting down into the ground and off into the distance as far as the eye can see. I think the repetition adds to the claustrophobia of being in an alien structure with no end in sight. Coupled with the amazing Halo gameplay, I found it to be a winning combination.

I wonder why the devs chose not to go with Bungie's redesign / hi-res version of the original Halo:CE armour, as seen in Halo 3.

This is the armor they need to use. Hopefully Frankie and the boys are paying attention.

I am ok with the Mark V helmet there, but the actual body armor doesn't say Halo 1 at all.

Agree, except for Wizard and Damnation which I want to exchange for other maps.

They better change that shit before launch. >.>

lol yeah right...the game is "done done" right now.

going in to change the model would cost time and money for them. I'm sure Microsoft was telling producers "make this as cost effective as possible because we want a huge turn around when the release comes"

So...who is actually handling this port? 343 Industries? Or another company?
Saber and the guys who have been doing Halo/Call of Duty Blops map packs.

343 looks over the project.

Is this coming on PC though?

Don't believe so.

Anyways, I'll be there day one. I LOVE Halo CE, and this looks like it will do a great job of recapturing that spirit. Having the maps as a map pack in Reach is an interesting choice. I'll have to wait for more details at HaloFest before I can judge.

Wait, wait, what?!?!

This doesn't have competitive multiplayer?
Sure doesn't.

If you've played it before you're definitely better off waiting for a price drop.

Or used, I guess.

Damn, the fact that you can switch between graphics has got me waaaay hyped.
That means it IS going to be Halo1!
