Halo Infinite | Winter Update : New Battle Pass, New Maps, New Modes, Forged Beta

Some of the gameplay of the campaign was fine albeit highly repetitive and uninspired, but the vehicles were awful and navigating the terrain, terrible. Never tried the mp, it looked like a bare bones version of something I played a decade ago. Don't get me started on how boring, safe, short and badly written the campaign was, where was the game they showed in the first trailer? It wasn't 1% of that...I get seriously pissed off how lame every game 343 have made, they should've been shuttered after the lackluster Halo 5 imho.
I played on Legendary and went for 100% completion, so maybe that's why it didn't feel short for me. But I agree that some parts could feel repetitive, definitely the environment.

I did like the Halo 4-6 story with the Cortana arc, I was really into it.

There are approximately 540K players a month across Xbox and Steam

Thats kinda my point. 540k across both platforms per month for a franchise like Halo, which is basically F2P, says it all.

I think the game is alright personally, but they just dont seem to understand what people like about Halo. Firefight has been one of the most popular additions Bungie made, people love it. 343 couldnt even be bothered to include it in this. A year later from release and what have they actually done to keep players interested. Not a great deal, because they dont know what they're doing.

Firefight is a feature, but that's not the feature that brings the players. As far as the gameplay is concerned, it seems as though they know what the players want. Their release cadence on the other hand is something they need to work on. That being said, I think we've surpassed the cosmetics from previous games, but they do need the classic maps to come back, which I'm sure will happen now that that Forge is here.

Where did you get that number from?
Because if that's true, then it's all on Xbox, since steam has peaks that don't even reach 10k monthly anymore.

I would have assumed it to be in the 100 - 200k range, certainly not above 500k.

Glad to be proven wrong on this one.

Google search, but you're correct, the majority are on Xbox.

I'm a die hard halo fan but I call bullshit on this 540k players . I hardly or never connect to eu servers it always puts me in us servers with extremely high ping

I concur, I still play(or try to) but due to night shift i play at off peak hours in the UK and it nigh on impossible to get a game. Easier to just fire up Warzone and have a quick game of resurgence.

Really? People supposedly like campaign co-op and they've made that. People like Forge and they've made by far the best, most full featured forge mode in any Halo game.

The project was mismanaged, they had to reboot midway and are now playing catch-up with content. more will come. I don't see how that translates to "they don't understand what people like about Halo".

When it comes to Halo, people nitpick about things to a ridiculous extent.

Not to say you're wrong with people being especially picky when it comes to major games like Halo, but I'd argue that the co-op they delivered was not what people wanted.
When people spoke out about wanting to have Co-op, everyone was talking about couch co-op because even 343i themselves said co-op is a thing they regret not having in Halo 5, which was the only game without couch co-op.

So them delivering "co-op", while it's nice, is not what they promised live on stage. The couch co-op is what people wanted, just like every Halo game had, except Halo 5, but we got co-op, just like Halo 5 had.
There are also many things that were promised/hinted/in development, that just vanished and were never spoken off again, like ray tracing.
I don't think any dev blog after its announcement spoke of that feature ever again.

Halo Infinite Y2 and Y3 will be very crucial for this game. I don't expect any major releases since I feel much of the pipeline is getting rebooted, workflows changed etc. but they will need to prove that they can actually stick to timelines and roadmaps in Y2 and in Y3 show that there is content coming.. because as much as I love Halo, so far it's one of the worst GaaS out there.

Hell, even Overwatch 2 is getting more content every other month than Halo Infinite has gotten after nearly a year of being released.

as long as weekly challenges are in the game I will not reinstall. getting Xp for matches won't solve the issue that people ruin matches by leaving or griefing to complete challenges

Just hop in and dominate

That aquarius gameplay is pure poetry in motion

Are there any co-op previews?
I've literally held off for a year lol to play this. What a mess. Too ambitious with locking it to old hardware, and then covid hit, ah shitty fate for Halo. The studio is also not the most competent I hear.
The game in the end came out good, so looking forward to getting a $1 gamepass trial and working my way through it lol

I played the coop beta. Really well done although there were some bugs that should be easily fixed.

Of course it's poetry in motion, it's Lucid. I normally don't care to watch others play Halo outside of pretty much this OG roster. They're just really fucking good.

And he really seems like a nice guy. Trippy as well. Don't watch Formal or APG vids but from what I've seen they're pretty nice as well.

When Infinite launched I regularly watched Frosty but more or less stopped as he can be pretty toxic and complainy when his team in MM doesn't meet his standards. As well as his "I don't particularly like this game but I'll play it merely for the competitive nature of it" comments..

I dislike Frosty and most of his team with the exception of Snakebite. Lethul is an ass, but at least has a trolly comic relief to him.
My favorite player retired from Halo, Snipedown, and judging by his streams, his heart just wasn't into it as he seemed to be enjoying playing Apex a lot more.

At high levels, Halo Infinite plays so much differently than for the casual scrubs like me.
I'm very much looking forward to the changes and still enjoy playing the game.

Today with the latest update. Two maps and a new mode as well as Forge and other changes as well.
Probably the most significant content drop to date.
Awesome. I thought it was gonna be a lot longer for some reason. I just got back into it a week ago. Perfect timing

To be clear, the new maps are forge maps, not full scale made from the ground up - but theyre better than nothing.

About time theres something new 'Halo' to look forward to - as a fan of the franchise, weve literally been begging for content at this point.
Hopefully with the 343 studio reshuffle, and Forge finally in the hands of the community, stuff will get rolling.
