Halo: MCC Multiplayer "1th" patch "fix" live!

Ít's no joke man, how do you fix your mistakes in life? Just enlighten me?

You know, sometimes when you fuck up, you fucked up. That's just it, end of story. Now you can try to fix your mistakes, try to right your wrongs, but sometimes your fuckup is so big that people can't forgive you.

If you have a significant other or a wife, try cheating on her. Then post a thread in OT about your journey of trying to fix your mistakes. I'm sure that your wife and GAF will be appreciative of you trying to be a better man.

DriveClub wasnt as "high profile" as Halo. And AC Unity is much more playable by what Ive been reading. Yeah... All of those are pretty bad, but fuck things up that much with a franchise as big as Halo is pretty damn serious.

Not to mention that DriveClub was a new IP while Halo: MCC was a collection of 4 past Halo games.

How in the hell do you fuck up a collection of 4 of the most loved Halo games of all time (well, except Halo 4)?

WOW this thread.

No offence people, but 343 are clearly on the ball, and fixing this stuff, they are trying and working. And this all after about a week.

IF they did nothing it was a different matter, so chill and relax.

I am in software, and mistakes are made (everyone makes them, its part of the learning process)

In the end it's about, how you are fixing your mistakes, and they are clearly serious and acting to them.

So great work 343.

This better be a joke.

Is there anything I can do to try and get a game? 15 mins and I still haven't gotten my first game EVER.

There's gotta be something wrong on my end, I see people in my Roster playing MM.

Seems like a dice roll honestly.

I've played probably ~40 MM games, with probably 90% being fucked up some way (uneven teams, split my party) There's probably like..IDK, 6-7 of those games that were perfect?

Seriously these people being angry, you'll get a working game eventually. 343 aren't machines. They're just people."

Nahh this shit is bad. I was giving 343 the benefit of the doubt a few days after release but we're 2 weeks in now.

Yes the game will hopeful end up being fixed but people have a right to be pissed now.

The anger is coming from the fact that this is almost beyond belief. And to go even further than Amir0x did, this isn't just $60 for a lot of people. The MCC played a significant role in my choice of next gen console and I know I'm part of a large group.

Like Gerstmann put it:

1. You are Microsoft
2. This is Halo
3. Get it done

40 games????

Are you just waiting a long time per game? I've been sitting here letting it retry for 20 mins now.

I'm going insane.

Sad thing about this is that your not even joking.

I'd like to see how you react in real life if you get sold a broken product that is non gaming related.

How I do this in real life.

I go the the person or people that sold me the product. And ask them how they can help me with this product that I think is broken. I ask them how they can help me with my problem (because I have a problem)

I hear them out on what kind of solutions they offer and work it out with them. It's about how they fix the problem and how they react ;)

If they don't react or don't do anything, ill write a letter to their company explaining that I was let down by their product and that i paid good money.

It almost worked every time in my favor, and not rely into shouting and pointing.

But there are some that don't act, than I play up.

I wrote this in HGS and thought it was pretty funny.

343i makes worse outsourcing decisions than the US government.

Har Har

Hire Juices ! Im out cya later folks!

Try team anniversary solo. I just got a game in less than a minute.

What a bunch of bullshit. High profile releases require high profile testing and Q&A. Halo used to stand for a certain quality, and that standard is now out of the door. Blame it on 343, the suits, the holidays, i don't care. But saying this normal practice is absolute bollocks. Thorough testing is.

That's not what I am saying ;)
It should have been tested, but they made a mistake... and are acting to fix it.

You don't make mistakes?

Then after all of that you can go online to make others aware of the company or just to discuss your trouble. What's the problem exactly? Who here is shouting and pouting? People aren't allowed to have a discussion with other people and express emotion?

If they made a mistake, why did they sell it and continue to sell it?

Oh... so the game is still broken after the "final effort" patch?

Back to GTA V I go. Can't believe Gamestop won't let me return MCC...

Oh I see. All this confusion is because you don't know what the word "tone" actually means.

*rolls eyes*

The reason you're seeing different types of anger is because of the context. Here the reason for my altered angry tone is due to the self-loathing consumers who keep trying to tell people to stop being angry and stop loudly complaining. For an example of the exact same type of tone from me about this exact same subject, see the "AC: Unity" topics where people tried to make the exact same argument about thinking about the poor employees and stop complaining.

If I had seen that precise discussion happening in DC topics, then you would have seen my anger align perfectly with this one. Instead of just seeing regular anger and frustration. The question is: exactly what did you think you were accomplishing by that original comment of yours? Did you have some point?

The problem is that some think that this is not good enough ;) Bu they are clearly acting and doing something to fix their mistake ;)

It's very easy to say in hindsight, yeah they should have done this or this or even didn't release...

Maybe the problems didn't arose when testing... or maybe they did and a manager thought they could release it. That's how it works in real life.

that's my point ;) After a week they are all ready fixing and reacting.

Now I'm curious. Have my posts fit the description of a self-loathing consumer?

I ask because of the feedback loop, and things like this help me gauge conversations.

Edit: Sorry about butting in, by the way. When I want to know something, I generally cease caring about formalities.

Still. People here are having a discussion with each other about how they feel let down while they wait for 343 to fix it. This is a forum after all ;).

I think patting 343 on the back should be paused until MCC gets fixed.

I think I would perform a little celebration if that were the case. And I'd slap all the 343 employees on the back after that, and all would be forgiven. But it's important for the game to actually be fixed before you go down that road.

The first major patch has already been shown to not fix matchmaking. So there is no evidence that the game will be fixed soon.

One or two posts seemed like you were getting pretty annoyed with people's anger, but then again it's hard to know what you classify as "acting like a fussy child."

I mean, technically complaining loudly could be compared to acting like a fussy child, but context matters ya know? From the big post you basically agreed people had a right to be disillusioned by what happened here, as well as agree with a long range of options MS and 343i need to do to make this right. So my impression is you're not really a self-loathing consumer, more like just dislike conflict :P

I'm also in software, while I sympathise with the pain I'm starting to find really hard to believe they didn't know about this prior to release. It almost feel like they doing the whole MM system on the go, so I mean.. WHY NOT A BETA!? Why not a delay? Let's not forget this is Microsoft flagship franchise!

Worst part of it is that the engineers not sleeping this week probably weren't the ones setting a release date, so once again: The business side shitting on the creative side.

Ehh, sorry I'm just busting your balls really. Just seemed to me that you cut evo/driveclub a lot more slack.

That's your prerogative and it doesn't really matter too much in the scheme of things.

I agree with everything you're saying in this thread!

You know as an outsider to all this, I do think the rage is a bit overblown, its only been 10 days.

But it is really sad how the triumphant return of the Xbox's premier franchise has been marred with so many issues.

I think when the dust settles and it is finally fixed, there needs to alot of soul searching at 343i. They have greatly disappointed the fans of this franchise twice now. They will be very lucky to be given a third chance.

I have much better luck when I close and restart the game after every match, especially when playing as a party. The UI is an unstable mess, you have to start clean every time. It's ridiculous that it has to come to that though.

I cannot tell you the number of times I had to deal with customer service and they said they couldn't do anything thirty times only for me to raise my voice and start talkin' about the BBB and then magically they fix the problem.

Isn't this a false equivalency though? I mean with customer service I assume your issue wasn't software related and something that they could just make a decision on like a refund or replacement.

This is software though. Do you really think this is something they can just snap their fingers with and "magically fix the problem?" Is there some sort of rage meter that we are trying to fill so that we can activate our super and "magically" fix the coding?

Do you really think that they aren't trying as hard as they can to fix this knowing that the longer they take the more damage that will be done to the brand and possibly jobs?

I personally can't believe that anyone would think that they would do this on purpose. I do not believe that everyone there including Frankie put their heads together and decided that this would be a great business decision to grab our money quick even though a healthy game would mean more sales now and into the future. That is why I am not angry at them. I am however extremely upset and saddened at the situation. A game and brand that means so much to me is being damaged. As much as I want someone or thing to point my finger at we really have no idea what or who exactly caused this except for what Frankie said about most everything stemming from one main issue that did not rear its head in testing. Do you really think that it's impossible that this could have been a freak bug in the code on a project this massive? Are you a developer or a coder?

The fact is that we do not know yet who is to blame or what was the cause. I am not a fan of blind rage or misdirected anger. Neither am I saying that anyone shouldn't be upset. However I do think that we here at least, who are generally more informed on how the industry works should set a standard for behavior when it comes to issues like this. Mob mentality is very real and can be extremely damaging when misdirected. I don't think that it is to much to caution our fellow Gaffers to at least try to be wise with the way they direct their anger if only because we love our hobby and appreciate the people who make the games we love and do not want to see anything unwarranted happen to them.

I promise you this. I will be right there along side you if we ever do find out that it wasn't a bug that wasn't found but something known all along. I will raise my pitchfork high if we find out that it was some executives decision to ship it regardless of known issues. However I will not direct my anger towards the innocent just to get my rocks off and collateral damage is not ok in my book.

You know this is all I'm going to say at this point. For me the patch helped some. That said at this point it seems to have made things worse or had no effect on most people. Now 2 weeks out it's safe to say that 343 and Microsoft have finally put the final nail in the coffin for Halo.

Halo 4 was a huge step back and drove away a lot of the community and fans. Then you had the little twin stick shooter that tried to microtransaction you. Again that pissed folks off. Now you release this collection and tell people certain things that you know aren't true. You release a game that is broken for everyone for 2 weeks and counting. Now you release a patch that only addressed a third of the issues and only multiplayer issues. Then turns out that the patch you released made things worse or had no effect on the state of the game for most people.

At this point any goodwill 343 had is long gone and honestly their customers are starting to turn on them. I think you will see this hurt the franchise pretty damn good. That's sad too because it was a franchise that had a ton of potential. 343 and Microsoft have nobody to blame but themselves too.

Verbatim how I feel. Also watching cream stream this, they got a match and it blue screened everyone in the lobby.

He's going off right now talking about returning it and it breaking his heart Halo is the first game to make him consider refunding the game.

Literally everyone streaming this is going off on it. Ninja just did too. Fucking Ninja.

LOL, it did nothing. After waiting five minutes in connecting screen I just quit. Screw you 343, I'm done with Halo Multiplayer for good.

The only thing that has changed that after fifteen seconds you get a players found message, and then after thirty seconds you get connecting session. That's it. Wait times are exactly the same as before. They must be so confident in their patch that they chose to keep the reduced playlists. too.

Oh wait, one thing has changed. For the first time since launch I'm seeing other people playing in game. Until now 20 people could play the game but none would show up in game.

Do us a favor and turn multiplayer off until you've fixed it. This is doing noone any good.

Really glad I didn't even touch this game since its hard to trust a lot of industries at the moment in shipping out a non broken game. I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt though. Clearly they're working hard to make it actually function, but fuck man, its been like two weeks and from what people are saying, things have gotten worse.

Microsoft really needs to find a way to get it done. This is the biggest franchise on your system and the fans of this franchise are being fucked hard.

After finding games when the patch first dropped, I come back to my old friend the eternally searching screen. Yeah, I think I need to just unload this while I can still get some trade-in value =(
