Halo MCC Playlist Popularity, Ordered by Population

And thank God it wasn't sprint!

Honestly wonder if people have actually played the MCC recently. Outside Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 4, half the time the others just feel bad. Like theres no feed back for a kill so the player just falls over dead and your like 'okay'.

Whereas in H2A and H4 it actually feels like you got a kill. it makes all the difference imo.

Yeah, i really disliked playing halo 3 after playing halo 2 and 4 a few times before that match. ..

Sprint is increasing speed.

Sprint is increasing speed at the expense of everything else.

It's better than increasing all movement speed because then the core Halo gameplay stays largely the same.

Taking what was a run and gun arena shooter in H1-3 and turning it into a run or gun experience by slowing base move speed but including a special "run only" mode keeps the core Halo gameplay largely the same? Going to have to disagree with you, here.

Not that it matters. Sprint is here and it's here to stay. Us old timers will just have to deal with it.

Maybe some players can't tolerate older visuals or assume 4 being the newest makes it the best...I don't know. I can't understand why 4 is so high, I really can't.

I started on CE, and i thought that halo 5 slaughtered everything that came before it..

Also, halo 4 is my favourite on the mcc.

Well, he didn't say everyone, did he? :P

I'm the same in a way, started from the original, but if I had to chose my favorite Halo MP it would easily be Halo 3.

I got my ass kicked up and down all throughout Halo 5 Beta, so I'm gonna need more time with it for sure.

I guess the very grown-up reaction to seeing these numbers is name calling people who don't fit the way we think it should be. That'll show how relevant and mature we are.

I deeply and sincerely apologize to babbies everywhere.

EDIT: Truth be told, I'm neither butthurt nor surprised by the numbers. Two of the top three most popular playlists are super casual. That sounds about right to me. New-ish people to the series probably don't care for getting squatted on by long-time players in the older games.

Because babbies probably don't get donged as hard in H4 as they do in H1, 2 or 3.

Ah yes, let's belittle people that we disagree with and who have the gull to like something that appeals to them versus something that appeals to you. That's why the MCC exists- to bring them all back and let people play whatever they like the best!

Never said anything about what appeals to me. And you're the second poster in a row to bring the babbies thing up as if it's some crime against humanity. If I set my mind to belittling people, don't worry, I'll come up with much harder stuff than "babbies." A 343 rep on these very forums uses the term somewhat frequently. Get over it.

Newbies, newbs, newcomers, casuals, etc. Can't really have a gaming forum if we can't use those terms from time to time.

can someone explain to me how sprint improves/speeds up Halo in an arena setting?

So i guess the point of sprint is to make you move faster correct and speed up the game, correct? so then what is the point of making the maps larger? If you speed up the player then increase the size of the map all your doing in nullifying why you even put sprint in in the first place.

Not to mention people never realize that sprint can be used in an offensive or defensive manner. Meaning you might arrive at your destination to kill an opponent faster but that same target can now sprint away to cover and survive just as frequently. Sprint is just an artificial addition to the game to make it "feel" more modern when in reality it adds nothing to the game and in fact harms it more.

The reason it works in other games like CoD/BF is because of their TTK. if you spot someone chances are they are going to die, sprint will almost never save them. Where as in Halo altercations last longer by default. So by giving them another means of escape all youre doing is slowing down the game even more.(Hence why most reach armor abilities broke the game, esp. armor lock.)

You want fast gameplay? Have you ever played CE? Go play a round of Chillout 4v4. Thats as fast and frenetic as anything Halo 4 has to offer and wow you dont even need sprint to accomplish it!! Halo is not a slow game by default, it gets this misnomer because Halo 3 and Reach slowed down the game to a snails pace. Halo 3 had things like bubble shield and regen, constant sluggish feeling like being underwater, along with the worst utility weapon in the franchise and piss poor netcode. Reach had slower movement (i guess for cannon purposes) shitty armor abilities and bloom.

SO 343 correctly decided they needed to speed up the game which they did, but just not the correct way. They tried with H4 and it failed pretty miserably (aside from the netcode which was great) maps were huge and horribly designed, sprint breaks the game, no real ranks, basically a cod clone in Halo clothing. All they had to do was learn from their mistakes for H5, but instead of swallowing their pride they decided to keep the most game breaking feature in Halo to date. Sprint.

In BTB you can see the merit to having sprint but in an arena style setting it just doesnt work in Halo.

I assume you did not play the halo 5 beta but have a great view of how it should be.
almost like someone saying how a book should be written by only seeing the cover and first 5 pages of the introduction. Not even the first chapter.

You don't even have to use Sprint. Base speed will be increased and Sprint will be decreased. This is a choice for the player as well as the other options like clamber, ghandi hop, ground pound and etc.

I seen plenty of people just sprint into a room and die because i played halo my style and walked into the room, weapon ready. lol .. breaking feature. loFl
