Halo Next: What do you REALLY want to see?

With some argument over Halo 2, and what it really has, should have had, and some feel doesn't live up to, what do people REALLY want to see, the top priorities, in Halo Next for Xbox Next/2/II/Xenon/Xenophobe/whatever? Between a third game and better hardware, what should Bungie darn well fix or add?

Personally I would like to see:

1. Online co-op campaign, and no dinky 2 players. Six, eight - a full squad here. Online co-op campaigns, with the possibility of downloadable campaign modules or even a persistent world/war to some degree.

2. USE YOUR OWN STORY GUYS. Halo has a robust universe, there's all kinds of stuff going on in it, and the campaign should make use of it. Bungie knows how to make cinema story, Halo 2 shows that. They really should go longer in that area.

3. Bigger maps for bigger online scenarios. Full out war with squadrons of tanks or a score of Warthogs vs a fleet of Ghosts chewing each other up in the middle.

4. With vehicle combat and the potential for scenarios like in #3, and better hardware, more players. 32 player games? 16 on 16 conquest play?

5. Give the humans an air vehicle already! Lack of truly new vehicles was a let down in Halo 2. For online play, a greater variety of air vehicles along with more players means more epic strategy - air support and fights for air supremacy.

Honestly, I wish they'd just end it @ 2 and start a fresh new series.

Heh, it's like wishing any major series would just "end". And with the hype train Halo has built up around it... there's a ways to go before the end of the tracks here.

So, might as well make the best of it!

More vehicles and more weapons. I want an all night multi levell where you have to use flashlights to get around and also a desert combat map. I would also like an all vehicle multi mode where you have to use vehicles to win. Imagine a map taking place in the sky and everyone uses banshees.

I want to see people stop calling the system "Xbox NEXT" and referring to all the games as "____NEXT." :D

A story that doesn't suck. A single player that is more than just "More of the previous game with more focus group impact". Who was the idiot wo said "When I'm in the Scorpion, I want to shoot at waves after waves of Ghosts! It's teh fun!!1"? Also I want the game to end.

I would like to see a single player mode that isn't mediocre beyond comprehension - so, decent story, minimal corridor shooting (what the fuck happened to the outdoor levels in Halo 2? Aside from the fact that there were hardly any, the few that were outdoors were ruined by 47484940 vehicles....it was like playing some shit multiplayer mode), NO FUCKING SHIT LIBRARY level, no Raiden.

Actually Halo's broken, I'd just like to see them start a new franchise, apparently sequels aren't their strong point. With Halo 2, they were supposed to minimise or eliminate the flaws of the first Halo. Instead they made one big fucking corridor flaw.

For starters I think we've all seen the Halo enviroments by now. Place it on earth, give it amore tactical edge, more open, larger scale feeling.

Preferably massive multiplayer online of course. Choosing either Covenant or Humans and making it an epic campaign between players with organized battles and squadrons fighting same time in several places in the Halo world etc.

But realistically, just the battle on earth and hopefully some other planets (We've all seen enough of the Halo's for now I guess, unless they can think up some new enviroments for them, but don't wanna spend too much time on them anymore) will do it for me. Oh, and larger scale battles with less lineair levels. Also they should split the Cov campaign into a seperate part of the game that is like unlockable once you finish the Chief part of the campaign.

1. 32 or 64 player online.
2. Online co-op.
3. More vehicles spawned on MP (for the more massive maps).
4. No more having 1 powerful weapon on the map that only one team spawns close to (sword on Ivory Tower, sniper on Colossus). Try to balance it out more.
5. Stick to Master Chief levels in SP, or at least give the arbiter more access to human weapons.

I wanna see more use of sky-killer like aircraft from Terminator. and you can fly these, dropping off troops and providing CAS

Something that looks like this (or better) and plays way better.. ?

BrigadeDamaged-800.jpg

could be something...

1. Bigger, longer levels (Bungie definitely did not deliver this in Halo 2)
2. Ability to shoot down dropships (shooting down their turrets is weak)
3. Some of the details and characteristics from Halo 1 missing in the sequel (fire damage, night vision, that sort of thing)
4. Fix the plasma pistol and needler (again!)
5. Remove the cheapness of Halo 2 Legendary
6. 4-player and online coop would be nice
7. Don't appear like you're dragging your feet story-wise
8. No cliff-hanger. ;)
9. Stuff like the Arbiter are nice, but they should be extras, not something shoehorned into the main game.
10. The Convenant Warthog is useless
11. Gimme real grenades.

With that said, here are unpopular things from Halo 2 that don't need to be changed.

1. The flood is indeed better in Halo 2, we just need to see less of them or perhaps have more scenarios when they fight other foes (a la Halo 1)
2. The old pistol from Halo 1 does not need to return
3. The sword rules. Screw the haters

Level design that makes me want to continue playing. A storyline that isn't insipid pap. An online component that isn't absolutely FUKING RUINED by its matchmaking system. I mean, WTF? Who thought that up? Hey! Let's make our game's biggest draw absolutely infuriatingly annoying. Yeah! That's the ticket.

You know, I think they should just make an altogether new game.

I would like to see the single player follow some of the stories from the novels. A level from when the Covenant attacked Reach for example (and you fight alongside other spartans). It could be really epic and different from what we've seen.

It would be cool to have Pelicans/Phantoms in multiplayer as well. Kind of like MechAssault 2 in that it can drop off supplies, and transport people to other areas on the map or whatever.

I have said this before. We need a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved that chronicles John's training, all the way up to when he left for Halo.

What would be gained gameplay-wise?

Some things are better left in books and fan fiction.

- Bots in multiplayer.

- Bring back the Arbiter.

- Introduce a couple more weapons for both Terrans and Covenant forces (so, around 4 new weapons altogether).

- Wrap up the current storyline in a conclusive manner, while still leaving the possibility of another sequel somewhere down the line.

Bots would be a great idea. I forgot about that.

Also I think Halo could do like Quake and Unreal and just go multi for a while after the trilogy is wrapped up.

Arbiter was the best thing about Halo 2's story. Why do people want bots? Is it for people that can't get on Live? I see no reason for them.

I'd be curious to play some of those multiplayer levels with bots.

And yes, I don't have Xbox Live and only see fellow Halo players on occasion.

i was hoping for the bot thing too. i was lowered to playing halo 2 multiplayer by myself, and basically searching for the spawn.

*better looking craphics on the humans. everything else looked awesome.
*longer
*a little less flood, but a few ore flood models if they have them again
*more master chief
*some kind of cool unlockable(maybe a art gallery like metroid prime)
*one of bungies old games as an unlockable(gnop or marathon or something)
*titties

What's that in your pants?

OH SHI... *dies*

Seriously, i just want it to look better and just keep building on what they created. Put the flaming ninjas on steroids, bigger levels, more enemies, better AI, more multi levels, more multi modes, etc. Come on Bungie, have it ready for the PS3 launch! ;)

Oh yeah, bots would be AWESOME.

Some people just like having bots to practice against. Others enjoy playing with them because they take orders well and are guaranteed not to teamkill, drop their connections when losing, or otherwise sabotage your matches. They're always there for a pickup game, 24/7, and they'll play whatever gametypes you like on whatever maps you choose, without a word of complaint. Then there's the fact that they can be used to pad out teams when sides are uneven... Bots are also handy for those times when you feel like playing multi, but your broadband provider's down for maintenance. So there are a few reasons. :)

-no jackal sniper one hit death bullshit. Who the hell thought it would be fun to get killed in one shot by a jackal that is just a speck on the screen as you turn a corner?

-More destruction of environment

-More enemies with different AI. Brutes were elites that move fast when low on damage.
The little flying drones were just....there. AI that doesn't really have to be brilliant, but just force you to change your method of attack and strategy in each room. The strategies for most encounters were basically the same as original Halo strategy, which was good just not new.

-On legendary I want covenant to come after me. If I'm hiding behind a box with no shield, they should be searching behind there to get me. Not just waiting conveniantly for it to recharge. Make me feel like I am getting overwhelmed by enemies.

-Better use of light. Hiding in the shadows, covenant using flashlights to see you

-More strategic vehicle usage. Instead of just driving around in circles taking out random vehicles until you reach a point where the game basicallys says: NO MORE VEHICLES, why not have gamers use that vehicle for a specific purpose.

-A gigantic warzone. Halo1 didn't have THAT many open areas (mainly assault on the control room....covenant ships, autumn, library,....all corridor like). But the few it had were memorable because it felt like all out war, with ground troops being supported by vehicles all fighting each other with you in the middle.

1. Even Better AI
2. When a level is restarted or replayed, have the encounters with AI players at different spots on the level.
*meaning if the first time you meet them, it's around a few rocks and some wreckage, next time it's a new spot, maybe with an ambush, the time after that it's an all new spot, like from behind a cliff or something.

This would give the game the ultimate replay advantage, and the better AI would put it over the top. Hell I could easily live with Xbox1 graphics if they could pull this off sucessfully.
3. More snow levels :)

Yea a lack of snow levels was dissapointing..."Assault on the Control Room" was my favorite level from the first.

Yeah that too. I remember Halo1 was like this a little. You were usually checkpointed right before the game loaded the next area. And each time it loaded I remember in some areas the amount/types of enemies would change. Definately would like this taken a step forward with different ambush points

Man the game lags hard enough most of the time with 16 players,32 or 64?Get real...
This gives me another idea. They should have an option for Bungie-hosted games (premium XBL content perhaps if it's too costly on their end?), also give us the ability to make our own dedicated servers.

I want a playable Cortana. Jack into the Covenant's ships and shot electronic beasts/code beasts to break into her system. That way there will be a (TRI)-fecta of playable characters in Halo 3.

1) Let us use the jackal's energy shield.
2) Fuel Rod gun in multiplayer.
3) More skins in multiplayer.
4) An Ending. PLEASE. Three years of waiting for halo 2 and all I get is a shitty cliffhanger for Halo 3.
5) Get rid of the matchmaking system.
6) 4 Player Co-op.
7) Bots. (JUST ADD THEM YOU STUBBORN BASTARDS)
8) Minimize the amount of lame ass corridor levels.
9) More arbiter stuff.

Online conquest mode. Your clan owns property on a huge world map. You challenge other clans for their territory and expand your rule. When a clan is beaten, they stay as their own clan, but they fight for your color/empire/etc. Once a clan has taken over all of the map, the conquest resets and restarts with records kept of who conquered what. Think of it as being like Soul Calibur II Arcade's conquest mode, but with massive clan battles to determine takeovers.

A decent ending that is not a total cocktease.

Wider variety of maps from the get-go. No more "Assault on Zanzibar" for the zillionth time.

Some hope of future support. Ever read the interview with Bungie (latest EGM for example)???? It sounds like they have hardly any plans to support the game the way Ubisoft did with Rainbow Six 3. Sounds like all they're going to do is fix a few bugs here or there, but do the absolute minimum to keep people happy. Gee, thanks for making me feel like I made an investment when I bought Halo 2. Not. :P

More single-player maps like Assault on Control Room, Silent Cartographer, etc. More open areas in general. There wasn't nearly enough of them in H2.

4-player co-op with system link AND live support. There's no excuse for it's absence in H2. Everybody wanted it and they knew it. They just didn't care enough to include it. They were too busy rewriting the goddamn script 9 times and sucking David Cross' wang so he'd put a few out-of-place wisecracks into the game.
