Sequels have to evolve, suits want to sell games, not please a small hardcore base.
I see VinFTW got banned for shilling too hard lol
*Known universe
It was probably just going through a database of known elements on known planets, not actually scanning stuff in real time. In a future where AI constructs act and think like real humans + all of the benefits of computers I'm willing to accept that in the future they could have lightning fast SQL queries
I agree that's how it was meant, but it did sounds a bit like the CSI "computers are magic!" bull.

I thought that line was pretty goofy. I was like, "what? are they scanning the whole universe right now??"
Could have been delivered better with more context.
Oh the suits will get the money but we'll be left with a dead game two months after launch for the hardcore base to "enjoy".
I think 5 has a much better chance to retain a population over 4 based on what I've seen so far.
It's impossible to please everyone, reading the MCC OT proves that. Even in the original trilogy, people disagree so much on what made each of them the best in their eyes.
Yeah, but those disagreements are usually regarding Halo CE, 2, and 3.
Halo 4 isn't even in the discussion usually, which should say something.

Creative director gets asked at the end which games in the genre does halo 5 draw its inspiration from for the new movement mechanics abd gameplay mechanics, and he answers "umm actually we look at the spartans for inspiration, we dont look at anything else, we look at halo."
Hahahahahaha what a crock of shit. Its obvious he had that as a planned response for that type of question.
Way to cover your ass.

of course it is. They tried to justify ADS using lore.http://youtu.be/B39ffXd0vvA

yeah, that's totally planned response bullshit
You can believe whatever you'd like, but we've had these Spartan abilities up and running in the game for a long time. Not to mention that the thruster pack was an ability we introduced in Halo 4.
Last night my friends and I were playing 2v2 customs on H2A, and we all came to the same conclusion...why do we have to have all these extra gameplay mechanics in Halo 5? I mean think about it, what is it in H2A that's missing so direly that the entire formula of Halo has to change? To me, the gameplay in H2A is just fine so why mess with it by adding gimmicky mechanics just to conform to what is being labeled in the industry a "modern" shooter.
Core classic Halo gameplay is fine the way it is. It's just like Quake, the core of Quake 3 is perfectly fine. Having updated graphics, etc, can always help with making the game a bit more enjoyable to play.
Look at Counter-strike Global Offensive...what did they add additionally from CS Source? A fire nade and taser...yet the core gameplay of CS remained intact. They didn't add sprint...or mantling ledges, etc., because by doing that, it wouldn't be CS anymore.
I've yet to read a valid argument that states specifically why Halo 5 needs to have the following items:
- ADS - aim down the sights, whether it's the real deal or cosmetic
- Thrusters
- Mantling
- Ground Pound
- Sliding
- Sprint
From the outside looking in at 343, especially with the producer's comment about "many people think sprint doesnt belong in Halo, so how do we balance that?", they're being told by higher ups to do this. Otherwise, what's the point of it? Are they that desperate to look similar to Tifanfall and Call of Duty AW?
Hell, by the time Halo 5 releases, I'm guessing Titanfall 2 will be just around the corner plus Call of Duty AW 2 or whatever other COD there will be, will probably still have the AW gameplay mechanics, so essentially within 12 months, we're going to have three games that are all very, very similar.
Just let Halo be Halo. It doesn't need to be anything else. It proved itself back in 2001 and 2004 that it was a juggarnaut of a game...completely different from everyone else...now it's trying to be like everyone else.

to be fair, people have always complained about how awesome book spartans and lore spartans were and how pedestrian and lame you felt in the games.
That being said ADS is pewp. Gimme my screen real estate back.

They've been talking about emphasizing the whole 'jet/tank' aspect of Spartans for a while now, also its not like directional boosts haven't existed before the new CoD.
Also, kind of a dick thing to say.
And this. Spartans in the books can run 50kph, scale any wall, and basically be what fictional Space Marines always can be. In game... well, pedestrian and lame sounds about right.
I've wanted Thrusters/dash/dodge/etc. and a fast-transition sprint* in Halo long before Titanfall was a thought. ADS though, ehhh.. Again, might be less jarring than descope since the transition of what's on your screen isn't no gun on screen to gun on screen; don't underestimate how jarring this is for probably a lot of people.
I would like faster movement speed over sprint, but we'll never get that.

Remove ADS from precision weapons (BR, DMR) pls lolYou can believe whatever you'd like, but we've had these Spartan abilities up and running in the game for a long time. Not to mention that the thruster pack was an ability we introduced in Halo 4.

NEW GAMEPLAY!
Halo 5 GAMEPLAY - [TRUTH] EXCLUSIVE Halo 5: Guardians Beta Gameplay
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmbG7e9gGSM&list=UU-UXMS9Q-apozW8jALP5UZw
Make sure to watch it in 60fps Looks really awesome and the video shows (once more) that smart scope is just exactly what zoom ever was in Halo. I also like that the pistol seems to very strong again.
What's wrong with it? The response was to the introduction of new movement mechanics in modern shooters. Spartans are highly mobile and powerful super soldiers. Adding thrusters, ground pound, slides, etc. emphasize these points.
Already looks better than 4 and Reach. Too bad there's no vehicles in the beta so we can continue to complain about the vehicle health system nobody likes but they seem adamant about for some reason
Guys, I just had a thought while playing some Mario Kart 8 Online.
I know Halo 4 got blasted for Join-In-Progress, but how about "Join and Spectate"?
Like if you found a game, but it has already started, you can either leave or wait until the match ends and join after?
I like it in Mario Kart 8 as it means if there are 5 racers in the race before, maybe straight after that race, there could be 6 more players waiting to race.
It might work best with smaller matches (Breakout probably?), but would still be handy.
Thoughts?

Want an idea of how broken this collection is? A friend of mine glitched into the Halo:CE UI, lol.

this pisses me off so much, Halo 5:G has been in development for well over a year, maybe closer to two and people keep complaining about how much it seems to be taking from games like CoD: AW and others that have introduced a similar movement system, do y'all not remember that thrusters/evade have been in Halo in some form (gameplay wise) since Reach? And on top of that, fictionally since the Fall of Reach in October of 2001?

I know a guy who still thinks Halo is just a casual rip-off of Tribes. These kind of accusations aren't new to this franchise.
This would be cool. Do we know if Halo 5 is finally gonna have a spectator mode?
Heh actually I don't remember any kind of thrust/jetpacks ability in fall of reach.
I'm sure the Spartans jumping from that pelican woulda appreciated that little retcon. Kinda funny that halo 4's intro has Spartans using thrusters to slow their descent to ground.
Back then yeah, i could see that in 2001.
It's blatently obvious that Halo 5 is conforming to the rest of todays shooters.
