I never said that about H4 I just said I like Evade and Sprint. I hope H4 is fast by default and has evade and sprint. I love speed and I do good thinking fast.

So many things were wrong with 2. Like objectively wrong.Halo 2 is still the MP Halo king.
Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.
Evade needs to be modified. I want a dodge for sure, always have what with rockets and power weapons being how they are, but a huge somersault is overkill.

I hope we get side thrusters similar to Armoured Core. No reduction of hitboxes caused by the roll.
I agree its slow, but to up it and not make all the maps jumps and hallways and everything weird you'd need to change every map to make it feel normal. The game was designed completely with the default speeds and jump height. That is how it is best played.
The AA's add a lot of cool quirks to the movement. Thats all I'm saying. Its not troll people have loved sprint (CoD fans) and evade (Gears fans) for several game/generations now.
and Overdoziz didnt you ever play UT original (UT99)? Instagib. Youtube it. Games were NUTS.
Halo was not built with sprint or evade as key elements and the inclusion of them in a single game is not enough to warrant it as a permanent change.
I suggested this way back when we saw the trailer. Having a thruster pack be default would be nice.
-Allows Sprint
-Evade without hitbox changes
-potential double jump
Thats my point, Halo's core gameplay never included this so called "4th element of fun" that the keep trying to add first with equipment and then with AA's and i deem sprint and evade part of that.Halos 1 through 3, yeah. We're talking about Halo 4, though.
Dude, nabbing a headshot while some BK is cartwheeling would be pretty damn satisfying. Not a fucking cartwheel ala evade.
I suicide for better spawns."Shit I'm losing a gunfight, time to evade/sprint/armor lock hero my way out of here!"

Halo plays beyond fine using the movement of Halo 1-3 and id like it to continue in that fashion by all means try new things something might stick and become a fan favirote but with the mixed reception sprint got it isnt sprint.
Sprint is basically a get out of danger quick card it allows people to take more risks without any actual risk because escaping with it is so easy.
Some kind of dodge ability id been fine with a quicker faster drastically lower jump in what ever angle the player pushes when tapping LB for instance to possibly get out the radius of rockets or grenades with a large cool down would work for me.
Not a fucking cartwheel ala evade.
I like my thruster idea. 3 AA's in one, not over powering and all players are on equal game due to everyone starting with it.Don't pigeonhole Halo 4 by saying Halo isn't about different movement options.
Wanna know the first fucking thing I said on my FIRST game of Halo 2. BR's on Relic. I said "How the fuck do I dodge Kevin?" and he said "you don't" Lol. I was coming from Unreal Tournament that has double tap left or right arrow to jump that way.
Just because you don't like the implementation of the AA's doesn't mean you should be saying NO to it in Halo 4. They could implement them amazingly in H4 and it could be awesome.
To some people it already is. I like evade I think its fun. I'm a little tired of plain vanilla Halo.
Go play something else then.I'm a little tired of plain vanilla Halo.
He looks like you, some say.What.
There's no point in sequels if the game was perfect to begin with. Remake Halo: CE MP with 60 FPS and all the other modern shooter bells and whistles, give it to the super nostalgic people out there to shut them the fuck up, and give me Halo 4, which hopefully will bring new gameplay elements to deepen the combat while retaining Halo's unique arena flavor. I outlined much of my ideas on this front in a post on the last page, but let me respond to your concerns about evade: don't make it a "get out of jail free card".
It's quite simple, actually. Design evade so that correct and skillful use is promoted when using it. For example: make the user more susceptible to damage while mid roll, be it more damage or a stagger effect when hit during a roll. Make rolling into solid objects cause the user to lose some footing (or some other penalty), requiring proper situational and positional awareness in order to execute the evade to its fullest potential. A simple "press LB, dodge shit" button isn't good design, I agree. Doesn't mean the concept of dodging can't be implemented effectively, however.

Evade no matter how much it got balanced would still in its very core be "escape death". otherwise its pointless what other use could it serve? and their lies my problem, when i encounter someone my kill or death should be dependent on raw skill with the weapon and my player movement not on if they can roll away and avoid the situation. Your tweaks would nerf evade and i think they would do the job well but it still remains that the player has a avoid death crutch.
Dodge can have a place but only if its a small scale movement, if the player is still as vulnerable when using it and is unable to fire. a quick low standing leap for me would fit all these categorys and id be interested in it as a gameplay element.
That would be quite cool actually. I would like to see how well that would work with Halo.
Heh, people glossed over my post on the last page already? Fine, I'll flesh it out a little.
- Sprint becomes a default ability, accessible at all times, and uses the suit's thrusters to compliment Master Chief's naturally high speed.
- Crouch while sprinting; Slide. (Example).
When sliding, your hitbox becomes smaller (since you're crouching) and you move slightly faster, but you decelerate very quickly. Think of it as a short, forward-only evade. If it proves too cheap, damage against a sliding opponent could be increased (since they're kind of prone).
- Jump during Sprint: Long Jump (roughly as it is now, really.)
- Tap Jump again during a long jump: Thruster Jump
A "double jump" that doesn't increase vertical height much, but greatly extends horizontal distance covered. Since it can only be used during a long jump, it can't be used to 'hover' like a jet pack.
- Tap Melee during Sprint: Shoulder Ram.
Causes half of regular melee damage, but it knocks things away from you (over ledges, for example) and pushes their view to one side slightly. Prevents Sprint-into-melee cheapness, but can really disorient someone.

I can work with this, and some of the other mobility ideas on this page.
I responded to your H4 Wishlist, by the way.

Dash
-Sprint would become a default ability, accessible at all times via one of the bumpers.
-Uses the suit's thrusters to compliment Master Chief's naturally high speed.
-Has a similar 'energy gauge' as Reach.
Slide. (Example).
Press Crouch while dashing.
-When sliding, your hitbox becomes smaller (since you're crouching) and you move slightly faster, but you decelerate very quickly.
- Think of it as a short, forward-only evade.
- Immediately uses all remaining dash 'energy'.
- If it proves too cheap, damage against a sliding opponent could be increased (since they're kind of prone).
Long Jump
Press Jump while dashing
- Roughly as a jump-from-sprint is in reach.
Thruster Jump
Tap Jump during a long jump.
- Immediately uses all remaining dash 'energy'.
- A "double jump" that doesn't increase vertical height much, but greatly extends horizontal distance covered.
- Since it can only be used during a long jump, it can't be used to 'hover' like a jet pack.
Shoulder Ram
Tap Melee while dashing.
- Uses a boost from the thruster to quickly accelerate forward.
- Immediately uses all remaining dash 'energy'.
- Causes half of regular melee damage, but it knocks things away from you and forces their view to one side slightly.
- Prevents Sprint-into-melee cheapness, but can really disorient someone or push them off a ledge.
Uh...anyone wanna play? There's a good looking guy in my lobby!
In the current game, I don't mind sprint for larger area BTB battles, but for 4v4 stuff and with flag/bomb carrying speeds, it really kills smaller/mid size maps. I am just not a fan of all these things that give people another button in their back pocket to escape a battle - I see that moreso on evade than sprint, but sprint can also figure in to that. Enough of the abilities that deflect bullets (bubble shield, AL), or give instant health when fired on (regen). They're garbage. One pickup was already given for an extra shield that drained over time and when shot and that's an overshield. Keep it, clip out everything else.Same, except I want to be least favorite. Everyone skips that question though, so the whole thing is lame.
Sprint is ok for BTB, I feel it breaks small maps though, MLG NS is sublime.
Not anymore, I a now watching Netflix.

Thruster Jump

- Immediately uses all remaining dash 'energy'.
- A "double jump" that doesn't increase vertical height much, but greatly extends horizontal distance covered.
- Would accelerate forward movement as well, in the direction the player is aiming.
- With some skill, could be used to change direction rapidly in mid-air, like long jumping along a wall and then thrusting into a gap?
- Since it can only be used during a long jump, it can't be used to 'hover' like a jet pack.

"Leaked" Halo 4 picture from mlg, looks shopped badly.
Palace of lies.
So for months when i looked at your profile i quickly seen "Jealous terrorists" and figured its what you where watching on netflix, i googled the show and looked all over and couldn't find anything and since we didnt have netflix in the good old Uk at the time i was insanely baffled.
Fastforward to this very moment when i realise its your motto and imagine how much of a bellend i feel.
RE: Retro's H4 Wishlist
I like this. It's like Crysis 2 without some of the un-fun multiplayer components. I was going to say the slide sounded like Crysis, then went through the example and the description is "CRYSIS 2 RIPOFF."
Guys, Wired Reflexes is what you are all suggesting.
Blocking bullets with energy sword. Fuck that shit. Shit was annoying.
Then you had the damn ninja trolls. Got Damn.
