Anyone know how to get the Unicorn helmet/armour? I know it was a preorder bonus, but is there any other way to get it?

I want the legs and maybe even the chest piece

If Jul is right about the
the Librarian
being in that thing....the story will take a pretty interesting turn.

Guessing before this is all over we will see 343 GS since he is on the search for her.

played first mission of spartan ops with free last night. wtf was that. That's the new mode they've been touting? Shoot 4 glowing containers to trigger a 15 second cutscene which drops down 50 enemies with targets over their heads? WTF

Finished the first 3 episodes of SpOps. Definitely gets better as you go. I like it a bit more than Firefight since it adds a bit of story and gives you objectives. I think they should really have both modes in the game though.

The Halo 4 Server is unavailable at this time... and this locks you out of previously downloaded Spartan Ops episodes... So you can't even play Spartan Ops unless you have a current connection with the Servers? Why?

My best guess is because they're already on the disc (or at least the first three were), but because they decided to lock it behind a Gold subscription, if the servers are down or if you're playing offline there's no verification so they don't appear.

really think they should have kept firefight, and just added an optional story mode. play normal firefight with scoring, lives, waves, rounds, etc etc, or play a story mode where you have to hold off waves for X amount of rounds, complete basic objectives (capture bases, arm bombs, retrieve intel, etc) and watch a CG cut scene at the end.

i honestly can't be excited about playing the same thing over and over and over again when it's on recycled environments.

"Painting remaining targets for you... now!"

*Actual in-game screen capture.
I counted 15 on one of the early missions. I've observed before that Halo 4 offers up more information on screen than before, but omits a lot of useful information. In this instance, they offer up so much information that it's actually counter productive.

I assume so too... But the only thing I can think of crate-wise that got me were that the Prometheans had weapon caches. They teleport in why would they need them?

The
random room out of nowhere that had the hammer in it was very video-gamey. Very. uh.. Quake-ish. Don't know how to describe it, but it sticks out.

And you can't even earn commendations in anything when the Halo 4 Server is down. What the fuck is this? I figured I have some free time, I can play some campaign, get achievements, unlock shit. I can't even do this as the connection to the Halo 4 Server is down.

Seriously, please fix this shit.

Yeah, I understood why it was there from a game design standpoint... kind of (
Why bother giving you ammo with non-Promethean weapons when you can't, by any stretch of the imagination, complete the entire sequence with the ammo provided? There should have been more ammo checkpoints for non-Promethean weapons if they intended for you to get a competent go at the next engagements with them
.) But it made absolutely no sense from a narrative perspective.
Why are these weapons here? How did they get there? If there are no Brutes in the Storm Faction then where did the Didact get the Hammer from?

I had to laugh right at the end
when Master Chief has a Battle Rifle in the final cut scene. I was like "where the hell did you get that from?" It would be near impossible to get to that stage and still have a BR with ammo.

I kinda assumed that they were there for 'studying'. Though I guess that doesn't really make sense now that I think about it...

The later missions are better, but I know what you're getting at and agree for the most part. Taking away a feature-rich mode like Firefight and replacing it with what we currently have in SpOps (still wishing for scoring and medals to be added at the very least) isn't a very even trade.

I counted 15 on one of the early missions. I've observed before that Halo 4 offers up more information on screen than before, but omits a lot of useful information. In this instance, they offer up so much information that it's actually counter productive.
Didn't Firefight just highlight the last 5 enemies? Not sure what 343's decision was here, but it fits into the Halo 4 theme of extra hand-holding. Do not like.

On the flip side, Oddball is fantastic. The changes made to that mode are awesome and very welcome. If 343 could be so kind as to remove Camo and the Binary Rifle from matchmaking, I would be very grateful.

I imagine there will be some tenuous canon for the existence of this room. Next time one of us meets a dev we should quiz them on it.

Or David? Frank? Care to chip in?

This was the best episode of spartan ops yet. Maybe because I actually felt the missions had a purpose. One thing though that frustrated me logic wise was one the 5th mission
As soon as you walk in, you see 3 huge AA guns on the buildings. But here's the twist: they aren't activated. Why the fuck wouldn't you activate the defense turrets? What scientist would use the power for one of their only defenses against aliens that want to kill them for some kind of generator? So, so stupid.

Haha, why do you say that?

All it does it let you "recall your own ordnance requests again". I don't think I've ever seen my options for an ordnance drop and not want anything there

Plus I only counted two "egghead" comments!

The 'Tracker' specialisation at SR-6. I actually chose it by accident... It's probably the most useless specialisation in the game.

I picked it on purpose, why is it useless? I like the Infinity gametypes so being able to choose more drop options is nice. None of the rest looked too exciting to me.

So you get a speedboost, plasmas and a concussion rifle in BTB and you're saying you wouldn't rather have an OS or snipes?

Definitely one of if not the first ill pick.

I'd choose the concussion rifle and stick to the corridors/caves in the map.

They all have their uses. Takes the fun out of it if you're just getting what you want all the time anyway, IMO.

I find myself almost always choosing the power-up over the weapons. Even speed boost makes you more dangerous as you'll be much harder to hit in a DMR duel.

I am rubbish though, so this is probably terrible advice.

Mmmmm.
Weird thing is, Halsey begins to quiz the Spartan about what he knows about the Prometheans after reading this

man assists are fucking annoying in this game... its so much fun putting 4 or 5 shots into someone and some asshole using one bullet and getting my kill.
