The TU made Reach tolerable for a few more months for me, 343 didn't have to do a damn thing to it. Why are you constantly trying to shit on 343 & defend Bungie to your grave? Ugh
No bloom was great. Removing SS was not.

The same Bungie crew who made Orbital and Isolation, too. They've created a bunch of turds in their history, who knew.No one but Bungie's Reach crew could've made The Cage. It's a fixed point in time and space.
Zealot and Powerhouse are better than anything currently in H4. Haven is the best one so far, but it still isn't getting used for CTF, which I'm still skeptical if it would be anything great. It's okay for KotH and Oddball, but they're still mediocre gametypes. When Oddball is your best gametype in the game, something is wrong with your game's objective modes.Eh, I like the maps. Most aren't Halo 2 or Halo 3 good, but they aren't Boardwalk bad either IMO. They do however seem to share some design philosophies with Reach.
You know what was great? TU Squad Slayer. No bloom was great. Removing SS was not.
True Oddball Swordbase matches didn't end with everyone having double digits deaths.
Feels like Oddball Swordbase.
This may be relevant to your interests.
You may now vomit.

Oh, and I forgot this one too. Why couldn't they have just gone with a public beta?
Well excuuuse me princess. Besides, it was actually KOTH.True Oddball Swordbase matches didn't end with everyone having double digits deaths.
smh

I get that most of the staff is on vacation, but jeez throw people a bone for christ sake.I love watching the waypoint forums blow up, while 343i never responds back. Always the "higher" ranked members on waypoint slrpin up to 343i and going out of their way to defend anything and everything against h4. Good start to my morning.
IGN Xbox: Speaking of the single-player game, we got a good look at HALO during Gamestock this year, and now have a feel for how it will play, but how will this aspect be structured? We know you guys have hatched an evil plot of destruction, deception, and discovery, but how will this be worked into the game itself? To be more specific, what are some comparable FPS experiences in terms of the action-to-story ratio, or does HALO set to redefine the mold in this sense?
JH: Halo's story is woven into every aspect of the single-player campaign, and you, the player, are responsible for driving the plot. I think we've all seen too many games where the story is just tacked on to a cool gameplay idea. We're using a combination of mission goals, cinematics, custom in-engine animations, dialogue and recurring characters to create a compelling story in an original, detailed world.
IGN Xbox: We've heard weapons balance is a key focus for the design team, and that the idea of progressive destructive technology is frowned upon there at Bungie. Can you tell us about how you guys came to this decision, and explain a bit about what can we expect from the fire-power behind HALO?
JH: In a word: personality. Every weapon has something that makes it unique and fun to use in addition to being well-balanced. The crowd favorite right now is the Covenant Plasma Pistol (pull the trigger once and it fires a single puny plasma bolt--hold it down for a second then let go and fires about a dozen bolts). My favorite weapon is the Human fragmentation grenade. I know grenades sound like pretty standard weaponry, but when you hit a target with one of ours, Halo's physics tosses the body through the air, its arms pinwheeling like a bit-player from an episode of the "A-team." We like the frag grenades so much they have their own button so you don't have to switch weapons to back-peddle into cover while blowing exploding kisses at your friends.
Hint: maybe it's your end.As for Halo, no lag last night. It's so odd how it comes and goes.
Aw I missed meltdowns? Who were the casualties? I'll have to go back and read.
Hint: maybe it's your end.

The connection quality of matches in Halo 4 is noticeably worse than Reach. Thank you everyone who bitched about Trueskill for 2 years.
Would be nice if we could choose to be matched up by fastest possible/skill/connection/language
Blame SpOps. They want to reuse the MP Maps so they won't do Earth or Halo environments too often.Unfortunately they seem to be restricting themselves to 'requiem-style' environments; if creativity and unique maps are the cost of tying Multiplayer into cannon then I can say whole-heartedly that it isn't worth it in the slightest.
Just give us Waterworks, Avalanche, Zanzibar and Relic for Big Team; Turf, Midship, Narrows and Guardian for Slayer; The Pit, Tombstone and Warlock for CTF; Construct for King of the Hill and we'll be happy. Seems pretty easy to do, geez 343 get it together.
But seriously, make some good maps plz.
It would be cool if we had the options from Reach in Halo 4even though those tabs never seemed to do anything in Reach
Bungie has to step to the plate and explain this shit.So I'm curious, someone get Urk, did those settings actually do anything? Or were they placebo?

Fake! Barrow Roll never gets that many kills!
Feels like Oddball Swordbase.
In a way though, 343 have done me a massive favour. As I'm reaching further into my twenties it's a boon to me that Halo is no longer as addictive as crack like the original trilogy was. It's a slide in passion for the series that started with Reach, so it's not just 343. However their continuation of some of Reach's worst excesses just allows me to step back from Halo now and play it a few times a week instead of every day.
People heavily criticized Halo 3 in its era as uncompetitive, BR spread whining etc. Five years later Halo 4 makes Halo 3 look like a hardcore competitive shooter out of the box in comparison. Halo 3 had:
*Your military rank tied directly to how good you were at the game, incentivising self improvement and team play and contributed to Halo feeling like a sport.
*Half of MM's playlists were were ranked, a rank visual to everyone (so unconcerned for players feelings, like Dark Souls!), and were top of the MM list above social.
*A sniper that was difficult and rewarding to master. Its power was proportional to its difficulty of use, a concept lost in the age of the Binary Rifle and sprint Swording.
*Every player starting the game equal. Want camo? Earn it. Overshield? Learn its location, and, as you improve over the months, learn its respawn times. You don't deserve an overshield because you got a lucky triple using an Incineration Cannon which dropped from the heavens at your feet.
Hardcore game.
Like I said, I'm glad they de-personalised Halo into this fractured, identity confused, fiesta flavoured, uncompetitive milieu of contemporary shooter eclecticism. Gives me more time for more important things in life. And I do enjoy Halo 4. I love shooting its guns, I love the thruster pack and the fact I no longer have to spawn with an AR. But, like Reach, I enjoy it under a specific set of circumstances and, also like Reach, the game breaks down at the highest levels of play (AA abuse a primary culprit) and there is no incentive to play at a high level so I play silly shit. In Reach, it basically boiled down to playing Headhunter in Multi-team and trying to out-do my friend in how many kills we could manage in a single match. My playlist history in Halo 4 has been dominated after the first week by Regicide, another party gametype.

Great post, exactly how I feel. At least shatter kind of looks like waterworks...Maps look ok.
What I liked about Halo 2 and 3 is that they didn't restrict themselves to a certain style of map, which allowed for a lot more interesting visual and gameplay elements in multiplayer.
The irony here is that 343 introduced the Infinity, which can essentially construct any battlefield; we could fight on a pirate ship or a fucking giant tortoise and it could be deemed possible under their new 'lore'.
Unfortunately they seem to be restricting themselves to 'requiem-style' environments; if creativity and unique maps are the cost of tying Multiplayer into cannon then I can say whole-heartedly that it isn't worth it in the slightest.

I actually feel matches are much closer significantly more often than in Reach. Last night I think I had multiple matches where the difference was 3-4 kills.
Whether this is due to True Skill or the changes to the sandbox though I'm not sure.
I too am glad halo is less addictive. I stopped going to some classes because of halo 3.
As much as I want to say it's a mix, more often than not it seems matches outside of Infinity are more likely to be one-sided.

Yeah, I'm glad Halo doesn't grab me anymore and I can now focus on real life responsibilit-I too am glad halo is less addictive. I stopped going to some classes because of halo 3.
There's just something wrong with Halo. Usually I get a game (any new game) and I'm simply "gone" for two weeks. Halo 4 even though its mostly fun didn't do that to me.
I'm picking up blops 2 today. Maybe flipping between the two will give me some perspective.
Can't believe Gauss Hog is still on Exile. If they can remove Banshee on Ragnarok CTF, why not this?
There should be no tank on any Halo map, ever. Exile is far too small for anything larger than 'hogs, but I'd be interested to see how a couple of Mantises would work.
