I am really enjoying this game. There are just so many little things that need to be fixed and they baffle me how they make it past quality control. I might be slightly obsessive compulsive, but here's a glimpse into my insanity.

Haven - Regicide - A global ordnance for a sticky detonator spawns buried into a platform. You cannot pick this weapon up and the indicator remains on the HUD for the entire match.

Longbow - Red and Blue have asymmetrical global ordnance initial spawns. Off spawn red team gets a rocket launcher at the base of the ramp leading up to the central base, their sniper is toward the low red side base by group of rocks. The blue spawn has these two items reversed. This makes a difference off initial spawn as red team will 90% of the time gain "top mid" because they push with rockets while blue team can't make that route.

It's just little things like this that show the lack of polish or quality control at the end of the day.

If blops 2 league is any indication ranked matches in halo 4 are gonna suck for quitters. When I'm on a team shitting on the other team most quit out (this is only the bronze/silver leage mind you, so it's not super competitive. When my team is getting slapped I end up with one or two teammates. People fucking suck and can't take their losses.

Positive note though. Once you're placed in league you get constant progress feedback. This is way better than arena was. And the skill based matchmaking seems to be spot on for now.

Here's hoping the halo 4 ranking addition is more thought out that just a waypoint skill number.

If you quit out do you still lose points?
 
Team Regicide >>>>> Regicide and maybe even IS. Seems to place a bit more emphasis and map control/movement. It even plays pretty well on Complex.

Harvest actually looks like a pretty damned solid objective map, especially for CTF. Which reminds me, why again are asymmetrical maps still in heavy rotation in this playlist?

Was annoying because the only time I ever played on it, it was always lagging like hell.

I've always viewed Longshore as being the BTB sized version of the Pit.

Glad Im not the only one who really liked that map.

Longshore is a remake of Hang Em High

Someday I'll do part 2 of this series. Takes a lot of research to do just one map

Hah, thats really interesting. It kinda makes sense, it certainly does share some familiar design aspects. Goes to show that spiritual successors can usually end up being great maps.

I wish you could see a Canyon view from both sides of the map. Instead we have a rock wall on one side and a really beautiful vista on the other. Shit side vs interesting side...

Maybe a hardware limitation?

Gonna guess variety. Solace has two sweet looking side vistas.

Sounds counter intuitive but symmetrical maps are the ones people get "lost" on a lot more, because they get turned around and forget which side is "theirs".

Other maps that use the High Wall/Open side orientation trick:

Tempest
Asylum
Longshore
Hemorrhage
Settler/Ravine
High Noon
Highlands
Meltdown
The Pit

Also a nice excuse to have a lot of light coming into the map :p

Yeah but many symmetrical small maps don't do that. (Midship, Haven, Warlock) etc.

Anywho, not the end of the world.

I'd like to see an Action Sack playlist with Binary Slayer in it. Looks like a blast.

Yeah, what a pity it was that both my bro and I preordered it but the code works for one. We were so lucky Gamestop were handing out codes but that's all it was, luck.

There should have been. You hang on to the outside of a Covenant ship in the campaign before inexplicably taking it over and letting Cortana crash it into that research base. I would've loved to play out that scenario. Some skirmishing outside of the ship in zero G before busting in and fighting your way to the command center.

Makes me wonder whether it was cut.
 
They really didn't learn shit from ODST, did they? That's what Spartan Ops should be. Not even in the hub world aspect, just the fact that it presented some human humans doing human stuff in human situations. So far we've gotten dudebros and people not giving a shit about the fact that they're in the middle of a war. Are they being ironic? Deconstructing the genre? Waiting to kill people off and let things get serious and have them develop over the last few episodes? NOPE I know it wasn't perfect, but they could learn something from doing a Rashomon-style cut between squads.

Would it be difficult to tell the story with? Possibly. But not if they had an easy way of conveying it, for example, they could have had an introductory cinematic detailing all five squads - Castle, Crimson, Majestic, Cool Ranch, Nacho Cheese, Blazin' Buffalo Wing, whatever the fuck you want to call them. Detail the specifics on their four team members, distinguish them with color or emblems or armor if you have to. For the loading screen, replace the UNSC emblem with a simple splash page showing the squad on something like "YOU ARE TEAM ..." with them in action-style poses, putting names over each soldier similar to Left 4 Dead's loading screen. Maybe even make it specific, by panning to individual squadmates showing something like "[gamertag] is THE SNIPER," even if it wouldn't affect gameplay. Even have squads meet up and intermingle for chapters if you feel like it. I mean hell, I've been playing all these episodes and I still have no fucking idea what squad I'm a part of. I'm guessing Crimson, but still.

Just tried playing Mission 1 Ep 5 on Spops solo.

I think i got through 5 waves of enemies before failing a SpOps mission for the first time.


Literally impossible solo on legendary. No matchmaking option for Legendary 4 player.
Don't take that as a complaint, take it as constructive criticism. Let us search by difficulty, please. <3

Pleased with the first missions shake up. Displeased with repetition of environments every single week. Not to mention, the cutscene intro made me realize Galileos air defenses have failed 3 times now? 4? Lols!
 
So, kinda disappointed that the Ep 5 Ch4 achievement wasn't more of a challenge. Did it solo Heroic and never even lost all my shields on the mantis :(

Was still sort of fun though. First mission is stupid hard on solo. Had to drop it down to normal because there are just so many waves and so many enemies.

Edit: God dammit it makes me upset going to Forgehub and seeing pictures of the maps that people have spent countless hours on, being taken with CELL PHONES.

Why oh why are such simple features missing from Halo 4, it blows me away that there hasn't been more of an explanation for this.

Yeah I could barely get it done on Normal.

I think that mission is the culmination of everything wrong with Spartan Ops. Lack of scaling, one dimensional objectives, shameless waves upon waves of enemies in the same combat scenarios/encounters making them monotonous, poor spawns, having to fight the mechanics instead of the enemies, reuse of locations, the list goes on.
