Halo |OT2| Hyper-Athletic Speed And Mass And Weight and Power

Except this is from 343 and that is obviously Forerunner in nature and shares a similar shape to a mummy casket.

Now if it said Bungie at the bottom right and the thing was colored purple then sure.

Since the architecture is distinctly human with its messy wires, panels, lights, and corners, and the thing is in fact colored purple, and shares the same general design of a seraph I disagree.
MS owns the Halo art, and I'm sure that a few of the Halo CAs moved to 343.

343i, can I make a humble usability request. When viewing my post-game stats on the site, can I please click on a medal in my chest and it pulls up the game histories where I earned that specific medal?

There's a story behind this. And I wanna hear it.

v2.

I agree with both points.

One thing that annoyed me was that when on Bnet comparing stats with someone, the person who was shown to have the most overall medals was highlighted, when they could have more medals per game on average, but had played less.

When I hover over their medal when in the "compare with" screen, I noticed that the "per game" stat was mine, not theirs as it should have shown... :\

We shall find out in time I guess.

Eh, the thing looks forerunner to me, both in design and colors.. It looks more Grey/Blue than purple. Also, I am 99% sure the UNSC will show up in Halo 4 judging by everything we have seen, so the human ship doesn't really mean too much.

Thats why everyone automatically lowers the reticle when the game launches and they aren't in a firefight, right?

Halo is game with verticality, meaning things happen above and below you that you need to be aware of. I shouldn't have to look down at the ground just to have a full view of whats going on around me. Almost every other shooter has the reticle in the center of the screen because it provides the most logical, comprehensive veiw of whats going on. No idea why Halo decided to go the current route.

It owns how there's a million bizarre design decisions in Halo 2, 3, and Reach that will be defended to the ends of the Earth by a bunch of people basically out of familiarity

Honestly, I'd rather FF maps be built from the ground up. I mean, I understand why they're culled from campaign, but I'd rather the extra work be put in so it doesn't come at the detriment of the campaign. For every firefight that's designed we get another Firefight mission...in campaign. I also think it hurts campaign runs because, after playing the areas so much in Firefight, the areas are a drag in the campaign.

Not necessarily. Courtyard and Beachhead, two of the best Firefight maps in the game, don't have a corresponding 'Defend' objective and you move through them like you would any normal campaign space. Just because Bungie went with a relatively uncreative direction with most of their firefight/campaign duos doesn't mean that's what they have to do. It would be a total waste to just throw away some very interesting playspaces from the campaign (that do or do not have a 'defend the area' section) when some of them have been pretty cool. It really just comes down to what those spaces are used for in the campaign.

Seriously. They make it sound like if Halo 2 had the reticle in the middle of the screen, they would have requested it be lowered slightly to where it is now. Sigh.

Ironically enough, those are two of the better FF maps.

Agree. To add to this, I hope Firefight offers much more flexibility to alter how a map plays. Specifically, if we could use Forge to alter player and enemy spawns, vehicles, objective placements, etc., those spaces become more versatile. But even without that functionality, a well crafted Firefight space does not have to mimic the gameplay in the Campaign. Beachhead in particular is the poster child for that.

I'd still prefer more unique spaces crafted for Firefight, of course. But given how far that would spread resources - unique maps for MP, Campaign, Firefight - I'm happy to take well carved out and tweaked Campaign ones, so far as they are well thought out and utilized.

Yup.

Hey yall, after seeing the Halo 4 vidoc, I really want to try out a variation of "Style Points Team Slayer" -- Slayer with bonus points for headshots, etc. Would anyone want to try a few games out in customs tonight? Like, around 8pm Pacific?

No, not with you! :p

Just kidding babe, I love you.

Anyways, what happened to this self inflicted exile of yours?

Pretty sure that Halo 4's system (at least from what I say in the vidoc) is just a points system based on kills, so 10 points for a kills is the only thing that comes up on the team scoreboard (just like COD Deathmatch).

I'm... not following, haha. I've barely played COD. If you only get points from kills, why not make it 1 point per kill instead of 10?

Because people like big numbers popping up. It used to be +10 per kill, then they changed it to +100...because it was a bigger number.

If folks are on, I wouldn't mind joining those customs. Be a nice break from study time.

Partially that, and mostly so the point/xp totals are uniform with the investment system.
Huh. That makes some sense, I guess.

Another question: If I save a TU gametype from before bleedthrough got removed, will bleedthrough still be in no matter when I play the gametype?

I think that we could solve that issue if instead of Firefight there was a "Missions" mode, sort of like Special Ops from MW2.

Two designers have a different idea for how an encounter should play out? Have the one that makes the most sense in the context of the plot be in campaign and make the other a short stand-alone mission. Like some kind of VR missions mode for SPARTAN IVs.

Hell, didn't Bungie say in one of their first Reach vidocs that they through a bunch of stuff they always wanted to do on to a board to figure out what sorts of missions there would be in Reach? Imagine if they made a co-op missions mode instead of pooping on FoR and First Strike's chest.

You know, I loved Firefight in ODST but I am not a huge fan FF in Reach. However it returns in Halo 4 I hope it will recapture feel of ODSTs, but of course add new things. Gears of War 3's Horde mode has some awesome features, so I hope Firefight can help push the boundaries of survival/wave based gametypes.

On another note, what time do the Bulletins usually hit?

Guess that answers my question! Here's hoping for some fun..

Alright, so I'm experimenting with "Bonus Slayer" settings. I currently have it at 500 points to win, with 10 points for kills, and 5 bonus points each for headshots, assassinations, and kills while on a spree. TU settings, including bleedthrough. Armor abilities, and 110% movement speed.

Thoughts?

Awww yeahhhhh.

I'd like to see some attempts at objectives in Firefight. Even some sort of capture type would keep you moving around the map.

Yeah, I'd really like some variation of territories, where you have to hold multiple objectives. Generator defense went a bit in that direction, but it ended up flawed and inflexible, and there's so much more that could be done.

I'm still saddened we never got a Firefight game type where the ammo rack was removed. That alone would encourage map movement.

You have to be so careful with your words! :p Obviously there are exceptions to what I said. What I meant to say was that if 343 isn't going to go to the effort of providing a distinct experience on the same map in campaign, they shouldn't bother doing it. It just hurts the campaign I think.
