343I are revolutionising breathing apparatuses for all! How is this design change a good one? How do the grunts benefit from not inhaling through their mouths suddenly?

Any chance this would make the gun harder to see for opponents? Normally your body position makes what gun you're holding pretty clear.
In OXM one of the designers spoke about how he wanted to show more of their teeth and face. Something to do with wanting all the enemies to be more emotive or something.

Maybe it is a different race of Unggoy? Or maybe the intruders were ONI's test object and they escaped. At the end of Glasslands, ONI kept the Elite imprisoned and for research. I hope 343i will explain it and it is not only a design decision like Flipyap guessed.

Actually breathing and eating through your mouth is bad design if i had to believe Neil degrasse Tyson.
IIRC Grunts can survive for short periods of time without methane, maybe just "topping up" with regular infusions of methane would be enough to keep them going in an oxygen rich environment. Perhaps they breath primarily through their noses unlike humans who breath primarily through their mouths?
If anything though the design looks like the Grunts have had to make do with limited resources and equipment, perhaps cut off from major supply lines, thus giving them the feral look.

My guess on less armour;
Halo 3 the covenant were at war, now they are in true / peace / skirmishes there isn't the budget / need for full body armour. This is more their casual look if you know what I mean. Agree that the grunt looks wierd though. May just be the head on profile makes it look double weird, need to see side on.

That's what I'm thinking. We don't know anything about the covenant yet. The only thing we do know is that they look different and I'm confident it'll have a reason besides this being a new game.
Maybe this enviroment means humans need rebreathers rather than the grunts.
Well I've heard that Cryosleep sure does give you a bad case of gas!

Holy shit, those grunts are terrifying. Im torn on the design change, on one hand it looks alien, on another I think I liked the old feet/hands more. Still, I really want to see those things in action, with all these changes I bet they animate differently now also.

Cortana doesn't look bad on a technical level, I just feel like her face mismatches the character. She went from looking like she's seen things and her sarcastic self to looking naive and younger than she did before.
Then again, I'm assuming the tradition of Cortana looking different will continue as long as Halo games are made. Maybe it'd look better if she was more hologrammy and semi-transparent like before.

I would love for the Halo 4 cover art to be similar to that OXM cover.. Man is it sexy in so many ways.

Just the glove design, it's the same on both hands, no armour on top of those fingers so they aren't encumbered when using weapons I suppose.
I was about to say that. Looks like gloves you use for firing a gun, where the index finger is less padded so you still have fine trigger control.

People said the same kind of things about the Halo 3 Grunts looking different from Halo 2 Grunts etc, etc.
They may look different, but I for one am looking forward to the fact that grunts are (hopefully) going to be speaking english again.
