Why would it have to be one or the other?
True. It could be a little bit of both. Was just kinda thinking if that mystique in some MP maps of the past games that fascinated with the alien visuals and sometimes made us wonder just where the heck they were located would be back or if we would just go "the Infinity dude who created this one was on some heavy shrooms".

Will the technicalities of the simulation be explained?

Completely made up please. But don't let the artists start thinking they're Rembrandt, because then colossal turds like Highlands and Condemned pop out, which are more about setting a scene and wowing reviewers than being fun to play.

Positivity please.
 
Did the GameInformer coverage end?

Doubt it, I bet they will devote this week to SP, and eventually post the screenshots. Still, I expect nothing new..which stinks, because GI's coverage of AC3 was fantastic but Halo 4's coverage feels really uninspired.

Countdown 2.0?

I wouldn't mind a map similar to countdown, it is one of Reach's best maps IMO..that said, I could live without it.

I think it is supposed to show the interior of the Infinity, where they likely keep scraped Forerunner relics for further research.
It's been said the Infinity would shine through the spec ops missions.
Ah good point, it may just be from Spartan Ops..or it may be from a spartans ops location re imagined into a MP map.

Speaking of Spartan Ops, I wonder what the odds of Infinity being boarded and playing a mission where you repel the attackers.. That would be kinda cool.

They come from the third and fourth ODST ViDocs. I'm not sure exactly which one has the highways or the rooftops. I just know in my critique article (that I never got around to finishing) I used images from 4 of the 5 ODST ViDocs.

Man, ODST really was an awesome game..you should have finished the critique article though, it would have been a good read. I like the idea of VISR having limited use, it really killed the art of the game if you kept it on.. I found myself ignoring it so I could appreciate the games beauty, despite it being a cool feature.

I played through the game again recently to grab the audio logs, this time without turning the VISR on (bar grabbing those rooftop jackals), the Halo 3 engine does really shine in the game. I also played firefight on Rally Night with Catch on, the gulf in lighting between the Halo 3 and the Reach engine does show there.

My one issue with the art in the game is in the daylight missions, I much preferred the blue colour scheme seen in Tayari Plaza compared to the dominant yellows seen in other missions. And while I know the yellow better matches what was seen in Halo 2, the blue looked amazing and worked well the metallic, human environment.


Speaking of Vidocs, will it be possible for 343 to provide downloadable wmv's for Vidocs like with Bungie ODST/Reach. Youtube 720p's bitrate is appalling and while the Silverlight is better on Waypoint, it can be finicky, especially when pausing and resuming. The wmv's were really high quality and great for poring over with a microscope ;)

Countdown was basically Construct 1.5. It works better than Construct, but it is only because of AAs(which I think is surprising).

Changed it to a public album. I might finish the article some day. Once I'm done with a few other things that I think are a bit more interesting. Then once I finish it, who is gonna host it; Halogaf.com or maybe I can convince Dani to put it on FuD?

While not identical, the space those HUD elements takes up is simlar. Would be pretty neat to be able to flip/toggle/customize it in some way.
