Quickly, we need to supply Ram with a non-stop stream of excellent games until Halo 4 launches.

I'll go fetch the new X-Universe game, someone else get some consoles choices.

Haven't read the book, but why would the Elites have any interest in attacking humanity after seceding from The Covenant? Which also brings up another question that I don't get, why the fuck are we fighting Elites in H4, and why are Elites fighting with Grunts, who didn't secede from The Covenant? I feel like 343/their novels have just undone the events of Halo 2.

I like the implications from a gameplay standpoint, having a familar set of enemies (Grunts, Jackals, Elites) be the enemies on the first level, as they invade FUD. That means we'll get to adjust to the updated weapons and abilities against something we know how to fight. I assume we crash on Requiem at the end of the first level at which point new enemies enter the mix. Could set up some interesting situations, with the Covenant splinter group roaming Requiem along with the Chief; images of three-way battles swimming in my head.

Not sure how they'll handle it from a fiction standpoint, I assume they're a heretic faction continuing the Covenant, or something. Religious zealots won't all shift gears at once, and they can rationalize it as being some sort of splinter group.

HaloGAF montage this weekend? Where's my montage teaser? You need to build the hype train yo.

I've seen things. Amazing things.

I think that is pretty decent from a gameplay perspective as well, but it just screams really cheap plot device for the sake of the gameplay of being able to fight the same set of enemies, which is apparently not the major set of enemies in the game. Obviously, we'll have to see how they explain it in the game, but going into it, it feels like cheap destruction of major events from Halo 2 without very good reason.

Umm, not really. You're assuming much without much context. We're in the dark here regarding plot specifics - even though fiction fans already could provide you with a few threads of theories.

I'd say let the game tell you story fully before jumping to assumptions about cheap plot devices. I'm not even saying it isn't a cheap plot device, it could very well be, but it's probably for the best to wait for the full picture here.

Yeah I realize this, I'm saying prior to going into it.

Maybe it's more of a fear that it is going to be a cheap plot device, undoing one of my favorite things in the trilogy (Covy civil war).

Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

EDIT: I have been making an alarming amount of bold and pessimistic statement over the last hour. I need to eat.

I'm curious if Google Chrome is being rediculously shitty for anyone else. I can't use it on either of my computers without it crashing.

flash keeps crashing on chrome. not sure why.

sad to say, but I've never played a blizzard game.

Unless you just HATE RTS games I'd suggest at least playing through SC2's campaign. Its great, definitely worth the money alone even if you never venture into MP.

WoW, I've played through a bit but never got high level or addicted - You probably have to have free time in order to do that. I'd imagine its only fun when you reach higher levels, have/find friends, and play a lot.

I like Blizzard games because they are almost friendly to get into as a console game, yet contain incredible depth that true fans can appreciate.

Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. It was really my first hardcore game, as I wasn't a gamer when I was younger.

If my PC will run 3 I'll get it soon. Also liked WoW for a while, and played a ton of Starcraft, and a bit of 2.

wow never interested me. I used to love rts games but I feel that fps have made me dumb and too lazy to venture into any games that requires thinking lol. is Diablo a time consumming game?

It is if you want it to be. You could just play 1 class, 1 playthrough and be done with it. Or you can venture into the online space, co-op missions with people, trade loot, and PvP. Beating the game also unlocks new difficulty levels with access to better loot. Of course you'll probably want to try the other classes as well. Not many games can match the bang for your buck that Diablo offers. I spent many sleepless nights playing Diablo 2 with friends, it's a cherished part of my teen years.

... Or you can venture into the online space...
Unfortunately there's really no way to avoid doing that. Fair warning.

I hear its great when its working though, which is doesn't seem to be at the moment, at least for many.

Edit: Warcraft 3 was the best game they've made in forever ;P

Starcraft II's campaign will only take 10-15 hours of time to get through. Although you can replay it quite a few times. Plus there will be more campaigns for the other races eventualllllly.

Go with Diablo 3 though because a bunch of us will be playing/hopefully co-op'ing this month.

Diablo, just because it's extremely more accessible without a huge time sink. WoW is one of the greatest games ever created if you have time on your hands. :p

I'd say StarCraft. You don't need to play online to get its story.*

*Caveat: the story took a dramatic nose-dive with StarCraft II, but the mission design and quality of the campaign from a gameplay standpoint is pure RTS excellence.

I could never really get into SC2. I have gotten through a portion of the campaign, which is somewhat fun, but you basically have to be good at the game from the start to go into online matchmaking against anyone. It's a very unforgiving game for a beginner in my opinion. On the other hand, I was a fan of world of warcraft from the first moment I created a toon. Just an overall immersive and fun game to screw around in with no requirements, goals, or expectations. I've been toying with the idea of trying out Diablo3, but I'd almost rather go back to wow and screw around some more with it instead.

I want to play Starcraft II, but it's still too expensive for me. It hasn't had a price drop in the two years it's been out.

Edit: it's too expensive for me because I know I'd probably only play campaign and not multiplayer

Pretty sure it was $30 for a week or so.

Fake edit; That might have been Black Friday, lol
